Does your design have another floor on top of it or a proper roof ? Usually a result of sunlight shining through the "cracks" in the model.
-
Except that if it is showing up on Joe's screen then it is already enabled. But I do think anyone with 10 or more years of professional experience with the software should be able to set the preferences they prefer in the program so I guess I have a few things to submit once I get caught up.

Just draw what you want your tool to look like with all the available tools that you know so well and save it as a 128 x 128 .png image file. Sometimes just an image of the actual library object will work fine.

It looks to me like most of chief's default buttons were designed within chief so I just carried on doing my custom ones that way. It beats learning a whole new program anyway.

export from Chief to CFS metal roll forming machine
Chopsaw replied to HawaiiArch's topic in Tips & Techniques
Sorry to hear you had such a disappointing experience with tech support. I would think they should be quite interested in leading edge building technology. Perhaps knowing how it works with AutoCad and Revit would be helpful so we know if it requires a 3D model or a 2D .dwg drawing of some type ? It may not export directly from chief but perhaps something could be converted with third party software ? There is a new X14 export feature for wall framing to EZF EasyFrame that perhaps could be utilized. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03161/exporting-wall-framing-for-use-with-an-easyframe-ezf-saw-system.html Or for others that are interested perhaps the link to the manufactures website. -
Seems to work fine for me but could possibly be a messed up windows setting, just not sure where to find it.

Creating Orbital Walkthrough with Sun Following Camera
Chopsaw replied to kwhitt's topic in General Q & A
Ok that helps because it looks more like what a PBR view would render like on my monitor.. Maybe check a few different sunlight settings to make sure it is not over or under lit. Not the first thing I would adjust but you could bump it up to 90% as a test. What is your resolution setting ? I usually go to 1920 x 1080 as a minimum. Higher does not hurt depending on how the client is viewing it. -

That is actually pretty good. It does seem a little washed out though. Can't tell for sure if you are using standard or PBR ? Perhaps post all of your settings as it could be a resolution/lighting issue as well. -

Did you change the FPS ? It still seems a bit choppy to me going around the corners. -

Rob I think you could reduce the jitter in your video that shows up as you round a corner by increasing the FPS. Otherwise it looks good. -

Sounds like a codec issue. Perhaps try Xvid or bump up the FPS to 45 or 60. Or is it z-fighting ? That would be the most help. -
Check to be sure you are on the correct floor and then check the line type or color.

I think I would just do my best to attempt to work with the layers of a roof plane to do that. Obviously no tiles or shingles and replace the sheathing with glass. Modify rafter size, spacing and material to look like frame/lead work. And possibly a few extra moldings or p-solids where the roof planes fall short. Good Luck !
-
If there really is not much editing involved you might want to consider skipping the plan file all together and import directly to layout.

Hi Kate, Unfortunately they fixed the software so that the walkthrough path would correctly follow stairs but deleted the instructional video that showed how to do it. However I believe it still works. You need to snap into the beginning of the stairs and the end of the stars and then set the camera at the top of the stairs to be on level 2 then it should give you a broken path line with an arrow and continue on upstairs. Select the path and you should be able to move the leading camera and then add in intermediate keyframes for camera adjustments and line breaks for path control.

Looks to be some sort of an issue with your particular example in the test plan though. I have not tried to get that area of a Material region before but in theory it should work but it is not. Regular polylines are fine though.
-
Do you need this in a schedule format with a total ? It is not entirely clear what you are after. You can use the label of the polyline and move it away form the polyline or you can use as text box with an attached leader line and a referenced macro. The leader line can be hidden with line style of color changes.

I think you will find a few tips here: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00001/backing-up-chief-architect-content.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00091/restoring-chief-architect-content.html Or just image your entire hard drive onto your new one or rip it out of your old computer and connect to the new one.

Use Transform and Replicate not Multi Copy.

"Connect Cad Segments" was new in X8. I think you are probably looking for a tool called "Edit Object Parts" that you likely turned on accidentally so it would look something like this or at least it did in X6 and it was also a setting in Preferences>Cad>Options>Edit Object Parts and that is linked to the same option if it is on your tool bar. Potentially the same in X2 -
Sure but the files are not compatible. If you brought a file forward Premier archives a copy of the original file so that it can be used to go back but any work you do in the newer version updates the file so that it can not go back.

Not sure exactly what is going on with your Drop Box. Many inquiries and requests have been made to make the 3D viewer more accessible but I think the only way to make it work is to load the model while you have wi-fi access and then it can be viewed if left open if you loose wi-fi. Still not very convenient and very hard on battery life. There are other options but none as quick as the Chief 3D viewer. 360° Panoramas can be exported and viewed with a 3rd party app.

X13 works fine, but X14 keeps freezing and crashing - why?
Chopsaw replied to D1Builders's topic in General Q & A
Try turning off "Display Idle Timeout Dialog" in Preferences and see if that works for two of the units. If it does let us and tech support know and they might get it fixed faster. -
You just need to raise the roof plane so that the truss builds between the ceiling and roof.
-
I believe it was removed from X14 for some reason. You should be able to bring your X13 configuration forward manually though. Have a look in: C:\Users\User\Documents\Chief Architect Premier X13 Data\Toolbars Then copy and paste: Kitchen and Bath Design Configuration.toolbar and: Kitchen and Bath Design Configuration.png into your X14 file. Also check to see what you have in the way of cabinet icons: cust_1.png through to cust_9.png They will likely need to be the same in both files. Also no harm in checking with tech support since they said they would let people know the correct procedure.
