  1. I noticed that a while ago but it seems to be highly unpredictable at least for me using "Edge". It may be something Dan needs to look at when he get caught up. It seems to work about 40% of the time for me but you can get 6 or more in a row and then nothing for 10 tries.
  2. Amaliya, It would be best to copy this and repost in the Q & A forum with some more information on you settings and number of passes that you have used, just to keep things organized for others. Then delete this copy. Thanks, Chopsaw
  3. No need to spend hours drawing over top this time, as it does work in X7. And there is no topo without elevation values, just lines. I have seen before that this does work however with elevation points I have never had any issues that could not be solved.
  4. Ok, Something strange is going on here and I could use a little help if anyone else cares to test this. I have solved the OP's initial problem by importing the .dwg file into X7 and and the "Convert lines with shared endpoints into: ( Polylines ) " seems to have worked fine. No more thousands of line segments. I tried this because I am working with a newly downloaded copy of X8 and some other things were not function properly and now I have a mystery to solve. When I select and item it is not highlighted in the "Active layer Display Options". Is there some setting that I have forgotten about that controls this? However this is not all good news for the OP as there is still no elevation data associated with the file that I can find. Update: I was able to import the 0 layer as elevation data with X7 but it has no elevation values and everything else seems to also be on that layer.
  5. Yes that is correct Johnny and now that I have looked at the file it would take hours to accomplish that. I have a good bit of experience working with plot plans and terrain yet have not relied on data from surveyors. It would be good to talk to your surveyor because when I import the data there does not seem to be any Z or elevation value so the lines are not much use to you and cannot be interpreted by Chief. I would personally ask for his elevation points and let chief plot the contour lines so that you have the control that you need for your purposes. I know that others will not agree with this but that is the way I would do it. If you do not want or can not risk any liability then ask for contour lines with the elevation value from you surveyor. Don't waste a whole lot of time trying to connect the lines as they do not seem to be of any use anyway without talking to your surveyor first. Unless of course I am dead wrong and someone else has a brilliant solution based on more experience working with DWG files. Possibly if you knew what his layers were they could be imported more accurately.
  6. Johnny, I think that this tool would work and would not be that slow if a hot key was assigned to it then at least you could attack the problem with two hands. I will take a look at the file and see if it is practical or not. Might be faster than a redraw.
  7. Yes CA has been aware of this for quit some time but I am not sure they have done anything about it, so it would not hurt to remind them repeatedly especially when they provide a DBX with adjustments that are clearly labeled yet do nothing !!! It seems that for now all you get is basic screen resolution regardless of the settings which in theory should be ok for use on a website as long as no quality is lost along the way.
  8. Jerry, Are you wanting to generate high resolution files from plan view without sending to layout? Because you can print to PDF and using the "Chief Architect Save As PDF" you have options all the way up to 4000 dpi. which should be overkill for most print situations. You end up with an excellent quality vector PDF file. This also works for 3D views by using File>Print>Print Image. I use this for another application where I need high res.
  9. They would have to wouldn't they? Just as the default ones do now.
  10. Yes I think the whole point is to be able to completely customize the room definitions and names so that you no longer have to keep changing things from the Chief defaults and assigning regionally specific names and features and it will all be preset when starting to draw a new plan. If you always call the Garage a Car Park, or the Bathroom a Water Closet, or are in a region where everyone has a Root Cellar with a concrete floor, for example, then you can change it once and always have that option available every time you reuse your profile plan.
  11. Have you tried, ( Library> Install Core Content ) And were you not given the option to do that after installing the upgrade? If not let me know and I will make a copy for you.
  12. I think chief makes it easier to disconnect than to connect other than assigning a hot key to the "Join two Lines" tool, however when you imported did you select the Polylines option?
  13. Very Nice Work Yusuf, Hoping CA will take some of these OOB findings and put them into the X9 Box for everyone to use. Should not be too difficult considering that the programming is already done and railings are just walls with spaces in them. Audio is much improved, keep up the good works. I would give you another point but we are tied at the moment. Chopsaw
  14. JJ, This reminded me of a video that I watched recently that you might be interested in for this project if you are still working on it. It is from DMD designs and starts at about the 11 min mark : http://www.chieftutor.net/helping-plans.html I'm calling this training video "my everything video" we talk about foundation, framing, grading, decking, stairs, lattice work, oh man.. it keeps going.
  15. Yes Dan It appears that you fixed it for Edge. Thanks.
  16. This is reproducible with the Windows 10 browser "Edge" in that everything works at first but then if you use the tabs at the top of the page to go back to "First Page" the very first post will acquire the post number from the top of whatever page you were just on. For example on this thread if you want to review the opening post on page 1 after reading the last post on page 6 it will acquire the number of #126. Refresh does fix it but should not be necessary. Thank you Dan for sticking with this. Chopsaw
  17. I think they are just cutting cost and only want to shoot and edit once and these same video's will be used together with the final release. A little confusing but maybe the money is better spent on programming. Some people have the list but I have not seen it on the website yet. NDA. Be patient and keep those guns holstered.
  18. Likely the plan that you have drawn would be best if you are determined to complete the changes. Maybe an illustration from that original explaining the changes you require.
  19. Lance, You don't have to wait, you can make your own in X8. The rebar might be a little tricky, but the black is no problem. If you can draw it then you can make it into a railing panel.
  20. There are people that you can pay for one on one training but there are also others that just like a challenge and love to help out. You can post your plan file with your question or show a screen shot of where you are stuck and an example of where you would like to be. You will be sure to get some suggestions. Welcome to the Forum. Also be sure to include what version you are running.
  21. Johnny, I think this works when you remove the casing and then sometimes you can put it back on later.
  22. This is a little complex but not too bad when you get used to it. It is just a matter of preplanning your move a little to take advantage of your whole screen working area and then even if your final destination is off screen you can zoom in and then back way off and pan over to your destination and zoom back in again. The hard part is holding the left mouse button down while using your next available finger to scroll the wheel to zoom.
  23. If you can work it out that that is the attic wall then you could make it thicker and bump it out and it may even frame correctly for you. Then finish it off with the trim and it should look great and be correct. Did a quickie test plan for you in X7. Nice looking project. Love the eyebrow! X7 Big Kahuna Test .plan
