  1. Have you looked at the Wall Specification DBX under the Roof tab>Roof Options "Roof Cuts Wall at Bottom" , select that and then down at the bottom of the DBX you can select and specify the lower wall type. Hope that helps.
  2. Alex, Is there a particular application that you are trying to streamline? Depending on the situation there may be another tool that would work for you. Could you elaborate a little more. If it was something standard or repetitive you could make an architectural block and put it in your library with predefined materials and then add it to your tool bar for 1 click access. Or there may be an even easier solution.
  3. So when you are not on the Forum I can find you there? Wish I was actually there not just virtually, even if it is live camera. You might have it better than those California guys. Very nice.
  4. Glenn, You only missed the party by about 20 seconds. How was the surf today? Mike, Nice job on the tiles.
  5. How about opening the Room Specification DBX Structure tab and select "Floor Under this Room" Will that work for you?
  6. Not sure what it could be Mike but If you post the plan file I will take a look or maybe Glenn might when he gets in.
  7. Did you read this one : And are you using the "Perspective Floor Overview" camera or "Floor Camera"
  8. Check layer settings for Floor Surfaces, Ceiling Surfaces, Rooms
  9. Plan Default Settings>Camera>General Camera>General>Options>select "Show Lower Floors in Floor Overviews" Maybe
  10. I had high hopes but ended up crashing Chief just trying to put that file into the Library as a material with this current video driver that I rolled back to. Hoping that AMD or CA will come up with a solution for me soon.
  11. Ok Thanks, I will give that a try just in case, since I think I have tried almost everything else except for Perry's suggestion. $$ So you are not a walkthrough guy then without Xvid installed. In Alaska it can be used as a walkaround or even a flyby since you all seem to be outdoor people.
  12. Michael, Still struggling to figure this one out and tech has be unable to help so far. If you have a minute do you mind sharing your Render settings so I can compare and see if they might be a factor in this situation.
  13. Lets not forget about the wealth of information that is now a confusing mess because this feature has been lost and deleted from all of the existing posts since the beginning of the previous forum. If a post has a fixed ID then please display it so that it can be referenced without wasting an ever expanding amount of space.
  14. JJ, This may be the best solution for now, to use a panel and draw a psolid top rail. JJ Railing Panel Filler.calibz
  15. JJ, I have used the beam method before in X8 and dropped the room height to 42" but it got me into a whole lot of trouble with the adjoining building that gave tech support fits. Let me play for a bit and see what works.
  16. That looks ok but did you start at 240" and slowly work your way up to 10000" ? Microsoft OneDrive has 5 GB of free storage and Google Drive has 15 GB of free storage and there are many others to choose from. Very convenient for this type of thing. Otherwise difficult to send files to anyone that are larger than 20-25 MB zipped. Could also be a video card or driver issue if you want to take the time to include some of that info in your signature it would be helpful. Are you seeing the same distortion with a Perspective Overview Camera from the same location?
  17. Yes Graeme's method works fine. P.S. If you make a baluster into a millwork symbol then you can auto apply it in the Railing DBX.
  18. Upload to cloud service and attach link. And are you using v8 or X8 as there are not a lot of people still running v8.
  19. Interesting, that should have worked. If you care to post the plan or complete video, I will take another look for you.
  20. Try for this application only Default Settings>Camera>General Camera>General> Scene Clipping> Clip Surfaces Within: ~ 240" or more. This should fix the problem for areal shots background far off shots but remember to set that back when you are getting closer in or there will be other problems.
  21. Sorry I did not not notice that you were HD Pro but if it is a standard library item I can rotate it for you or post your symbol. No problem with X8.
  22. Yes, no problem, a light fixture is a Symbol so you can open the Symbol Specification DBX ( Dialogue Box ) and under the 3D tab rotate 180 Degrees about the Y axis.
  23. Seems this is getting worse and worse the more I search through older posts. Links to CA Training Videos no longer function and it seems that attachment are missing in many cases. This is making it hard to make use of the forum and even more difficult to use it for helping others out during the times when tech support is closed. This will be a great loss of knowledge if these things are lost and can not be restored quickly.
  24. You might be going about that in the wrong way. I think you will want to draw a 3D Molding Polyline in a section view of the stairs looking at the wall. Chief is a little tricky sometimes. Do this in two stages, draw cad line and then convert to 3D Molding polyline.
