Seems this is getting worse and worse the more I search through older posts. Links to CA Training Videos no longer function and it seems that attachment are missing in many cases. This is making it hard to make use of the forum and even more difficult to use it for helping others out during the times when tech support is closed. This will be a great loss of knowledge if these things are lost and can not be restored quickly.

You might be going about that in the wrong way. I think you will want to draw a 3D Molding Polyline in a section view of the stairs looking at the wall. Chief is a little tricky sometimes. Do this in two stages, draw cad line and then convert to 3D Molding polyline.

Has this ever worked for you or is it the first try on computer? I would first suspect video card. Go to Preferences> Video Card Status and post as .jpg Here are the basic system requirements: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/sysreq.html

Newell, No hole in wall when I open plan file. Stair rail does stop at top of stair but window is too close. Add return as illustrated or shorten rail by usind 3D Moulding polyline but that may not pass inspection. Maybe just put it on the other side. Not an easy decision with existing design choices.

Newell, Do you mean the porch ceiling above the railing walls? If so post a screen shot something like this with your plan file. It is easy to do and saves all kinds of time for you and the people who so generously try to help. If I have guessed correctly open the porch room and in the Room Specification DBX Structure tab Ceiling select "Use Soffit Surface for Ceiling".

Bob, That is the same message I was getting with the video that Tiger posted earlier in the thread but I have that working now with Windows 10 Movies & TV as well as Photos, however yours is not working. Did you remember to set XVID in Preferences>Render>Codec Options? Or try a reboot as there may still be some little glitch with the players.

I don't think that can be done with polyline solids with any degree of efficiency but if you Skype I could try to show you a trick that worked for me once.

I was able to successfully download and install XVID 1.3.4 from the Official site and install without issues. I scanned my entire system and then this file individually with Windows Defender and they came up clean. So if you like you can download from here and for your own peace of mind scan with your own security software before installing. Xvid-1.3.4-20150621.exe You should be able to record a good quality 720p video uploadable to YouTube or played from the .avi file on windows 10 Movies & TV, Photos, Or Microsoft's Windows Media Play, and Photo Gallery. Also compatible with Apple software. Here are the changes from the default settings that I use. Using these settings and recording at 30 frames per second seems to be about the best that chief is currently capable of and if you are recording at walkthrough speeds faster than the default of 3.0 ft/s and having quality issues you may want to try recording a 60 fps.

Bob, Don't take any chances with those popups. Mcafee was giving me some warning messages. I am planning to retest XVID 1.3.4 today and if successful maybe I should post the clean file for you to see if that helps.

Strangest thing, changed nothing and it decided to work fine today all I did was threaten it. Who knows Maybe the reboot after rolling back the driver? Will have to install again and see what happens.

Maybe we should compare setting then cause somehow I got mine to work, which is great for the client that does not even know how to set a default player. I like to make it easy for them no matter their skill level. Open and play. Edit: You won't believe this but now I have more work to do as it just quit playing my videos. Which one is the best William as I think the Molding Polyline is out. I cant make it work as in the example.

Scott, You have to go further north than Oakville to experience a real Canadian winter. And you will have to come here for that as it does not export so well as it melts pretty quick above 32 degrees but if you can stay below it sticks pretty well. Expecting more tonight. Did you get your dual licence activation setup for your "Rendering Farm"? P.S. That new setup of yours will be great with the next version. Seems like you are planning ahead.

Hey Rich, Thanks for checking this out. Just to be clear I can run it with windows 10 in Photo Gallery and Windows Media Player but not Photos or Movies & TV. I had an audio problem with Movies & TV when I upgraded and had to set my audio bitrate to 256. It seems to be more particular than the older players. The whole kitchen is grey so the only way you can tell if colour is working is by checking the digital clock on the range to see if it is the same colour as your skin. I also have VLC which seems to play just about anything so that is not a good test as I don't expect clients to have that. Just one more question Rich, have you updated your signature recently? Ok I think I had the same sort of thing happen the other day. Your " more stuff...... " has somehow linked itself to the .JPG file attachment. This is some sort of a bug but should correct itself with a couple of spaces placed between them. Maybe Dan should take a look at what is causing this. I think my problem was an image (.jpg) that linked itself to a Youtube video link corrupting both of them.

CJ, I believe you are referring to the underlined items that are links or downloads. It is not a very clear system in my opinion but that seems to be the way it is set up. Almost everyone else uses a different colour from the standard text usually in combination with italics.

I got mine from Microsoft to. What could the difference be? Do you have the Anniversary update yet?

Dan, I just had a rather interesting experience with posting. Typed up post and added file, then realized file had wrong name, deleted file from post and then changed name and re uploaded. When I previewed the post the original file was still there and would not go away. Then things got really crazy when I tried to delete the post and start over. It deleted ok but then when I went to repost it all reappeared even with the file that I deleted twice. So the only solution that I could think of was to post and hope that I could edit after posting. This worked but then after editing the Post tab is labeled as "Edit Topic"? If you have any issues reproducing this situation please let me know.
