  1. Change the Layer in Active Defaults or better yet do some reading on Annotation Sets and they can control the dimension layers.
  2. Thanks Stephen. I will see what tech has to say next week.
  3. Yes the offending standard polyline with solid white fill is drawn in plan view. Drawn to reveal only a perimeter hatch pattern for the green polyline.
  4. Sorry guys, I should know better but it just seemed so reproducible that I figured someone had run across it before. The Solid fill is in a Standard Polyline that the layout box border runs through at the corner of screen shot with linweights turned on and border set to 25 on drawing group 1 in layout while the (white) filled polyline is drawn in plan on group 21.
  5. Is there a way to adjust the draw order of a Layout Box Border such that it is over top of the drawing it is being used to crop ? Why would an object with solid fill completely blot out the border that is supposed to be defining it ? I don't usually use Layout Box Borders but found a project where I thought it would be a handy tool for the circumstance. Oh and yes the solid fill was a workaround for another problem. Any help would be much appreciated.
  6. Or you may be able to use a png billboard image and superimpose it in front of the wall.
  7. If I am following along with what you are trying to say Steve. I see the logic however Cad Detail from View does not change the properties of the dimension line or text. This has been requested as an option for other purposes but is not possible yet.
  8. You would likely be better to have separate plan files for each roof configuration. However I think you could have several styles in the same file if you manually built them all or at least the revised versions and used transform and replicate to move them on and off site say 250' away so they were not in the way. You could even have them set up to be spaced evenly apart and select all roof planes and one move could make a complete switch.
  9. Sorry that may not have been as clear as it should have been. Use an elevation camera and set the cutting plane at the center of the plate. I will try to find time to make you a video.
  10. Likely the easiest way to do that would be to place the plate centered at 0,0, and cut a section through the middle then draw a very thin face and revolve it 360° around the Z-Axis. Then recreate it as a new symbol.
  11. That is a rather delicate thing to do in Chief but the theory would be to have separate materials on the symbol such that they could be edited afterwards. You could carefully add a thin layer to an existing symbol or start from scratch and model your own components.

Interesting situation which would be the same in real life as there would definitely be issues with hanging a flat picture on a curved wall. You could use the symbol offset if you really want a flat picture on a curved wall that sticks out at the corners or middle. Maybe a better idea would be to make the painting into a window symbol that will match the curve of the wall. Or possibly a wall material region but have not tried that yet.
  13. Are you watching online or downloading and watching. If you are online you may want to try a different browser. Chrome seems to work fine. Maybe post the link to one of the specific video's you are having a problem with and let us know what browser you are using.
  14. DBX is Dialogue Box. However I see you are using X10 and there is a new tool in X10. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/19583-terrain-wont-show-up-under-cantilever/?do=findComment&comment=160456
  15. Fletcher, I assume you are not using X10. But when you are able to upgrade there is an automatic new feature that allows editing of the terrain hole around buildings. From X10 help: If you prefer to manually control the holes around structures, select the Terrain Perimeter and click the Make Terrain Hole(s) Around Building(s) edit button.
  16. If you are using X10 you can edit an automatically generated terrain hole.
  17. looks like you have a lot going on in a small space, would likely need to take a look at the plan file to figure it out. Or you could just try taking away some of the nearby features one at a time to see what is causing it. You would know best how it was built.
  18. Never really noticed that before but I just tried imputing a ridiculously long room name in a small room and chief made no attempt to keep the label within the room. So it maybe should be something they could look at improving.
  19. One thing that can cause that problem is if the drywall has been moved to the main layer of the wall definition.
  20. Here is a thread where Scott posted a video : https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/17201-apply-new-layout-sheet/?tab=comments#comment-144409
  21. Or you can being in E on a new Annoset and have both and just turn them on and off. Joe seems to have it working but mine still has a few bugs.
  22. Yes no problem. Just change your paper size on the D layout and copy over page 0 and whatever else you might need from your E layout then just rescale and adjust as required for the larger paper.
  23. Not sure you can access someone else's support page but it did give the case number. Case 79554 not found The case you requested could not be found.
  24. Yes I think that would be standard operating procedure for most users. It is possible that those tools are causing corruption as I have been experiencing items staying highlighted after using those tools. Did you find one in Robert's file other than the one he pointed out ?
