Hi Rob, I am not a cabinet guy but here goes.... In the plan you are seeing the "round" schedule callout so the cabinet label is irrelevant unless you allow the schedule to display the label or the Callout and Label, but it appears the schedule is set to display only the callout.

Yes that is a pretty serious no no particularly on a new build. Not that UL always get it correct but you want their backing when there is an issue.

Short answer is no. Perhaps post your computer specifications for more potential options or bite the bullet and get a new one. The only workaround I can think of within chief is to export as .3ds or .dae and render that way.

I think I would start with an auto polygon deck and make the railing visible and change the floor to a Mono Slab. Auto build the roof and copy all the roof planes and raise the copy 6-8 inches and draw the fascia up to the top at the size you want. Then place a break in the original roof planes at the top and draw them back. A couple of well placed cad polygons will give you snap points. This one took me 20 minutes but I am slow. Maybe 8-10 minutes the second time but yours will take a little longer with the extra detail.

I think maybe they are supposed to be.... "I made an odd roofline on a Pavilion" It looks to me they are trying to avoid the perimeter drip and also not have eavestrough. I am not exactly sure where the water does go though... Perhaps to the water feature?

You need to use the delete surfaces tool in 3D and then recreate the symbol within Chief.

Upload to your cloud account and then post the download link or create a stripped down version of the file without fixtures and furnishings etc.

First of all don't post in all caps. You can remove the shading from the materials if you never want to see them in vector view, Vector views display the material patterns. Other wise just turn off the colour if you want B&W.

Ok that looks more consistent with the OPs situation. Does Apple not define drive letters ?

I have no Idea what the codes mean but it may not be all that complicated. Check in Preferences > Folders > All Program Paths: > Show > Preferences Folder. Make sure that the drive letter and path are legit. ie. that you have not renamed or changed the drive Yours looks a little odd and maybe not default. Mine is currently: C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Chief Architect Inc Pretty sure that ".ini " file gets rewritten every time you close the program so It is likely looking for a location it can not access.

We have a stretch cad tool but what you are looking for is Edit Area. Another tool you will find handy is temporary dimensions. Select the item and then click the appropriate attached dimension or temporary dimension and change the measurement. Or drag and tab for a dialog to enter the exact distance to move. Don't be shy about letting us know what software you are coming from as there are a lot of others that have successfully made similar transitions. They can help you with terminology you will understand. You can actually put some of that information in your signature along with your important computer specifications so it is available to those that are helping out.

If I am following along correctly you should have a polyline so if you select the whole thing you can then double click the Make Parallel/Perpendicular tool and it will bring up a dialogue that allows you to "Rotate the entire Polyline" but then if you are using the north arrow you may need to use Jasons method to keep everything in sync by selecting the arrow as well and rotating all.

You first need to ask what software they are using and what import options they have. Also what their role is in the project..... Review and sign or provide a supplementary drawing etc. Do they have Chief Architect and if so what version. Start with a PDF if you need to start the conversation and break the ice so to speak.

I have not fully explored X15 yet but definitely not in X14. I usually find it easier to let chief do it's thing and then just do the manual edits rather than starting from scratch even if you delete most and then move one and multi copy etc..

It would depend a lot on the type of sign you intend to display and If it is existing or proposed. You can create a polyline solid representing a piece of plywood or sign board and apply a material to it but that would be the simplest scenario. You you will want to try to use the tools that best represent the finished product so obviously plywood is not the right approach for a neon sign.

I am not exactly sure which is technically correct but It sure would be easier to have the shoe plate over the lower rafters even with new construction. Then again it is an "over frame" so it could be a situation where the roof sheathing remains in place on a remodel. Maybe a production framer can weigh in here.

You could always copy that round wall over to a blank plan and auto build there and just CTRL + ALT + V back a forth until it looks good. Depending on how many sections you use you may want to trim the overhang to get a smooth fascia. It is just a (roof) polyline. 06 Options Enter the Segment Angle at Curved Wall, which is the angle for roof segments automatically generated to cover a curved wall. A smaller angle produces more roof planes. Note that in some instances, slightly smaller or larger values will be used instead of the specified angle.

Draw the polyline solid in the view you would like to edit it in. When you are referencing a video post the link and let us know what segment you are referring to. Also be sure the video was produced in X8 or prior as some of the features have changed. Most likely the footing for the chimney should be drawn in plan view.

I can't quite tell from the angle of the screen capture but did that give you a shoe plate that is over top of the lower rafters ?

Yes. You can deal with this pretty easily by just subtracting some length from each plane though with a custom macro. It does not seem there is any access to overhang data to make a calculated subtraction of the exact overhang or even a percentage of It. If that is true perhaps we should be requesting access to that ?

You could use purlins in the surface layer and jigger the offsets top and bottom to set that up automatically.

How would chief decide which roof plane was going to report for the ridge cap ? I have never seen what you are describing on a plane by plane basis. However the material list will do a tally for you. If you have it selected it will report the ridge length as the OP is reporting. But you are correct you would need to contrive a way to show ridge vents or use a library symbol.
