  1. Main Layer is quite common however you need to check with your local regulations to know how it is officially done in your area. However if you primary do interior design work or real-estate layouts, then most likely surface calculations will be used.
  2. It could also be a codec issue. Xvid has been the best for me for a long time even before chief included it in the software package but not sure if it is compatible with mac systems or if that is even a consideration.
  3. It can be done with previous versions but it is a little tricky. I usually just used Acrobat since chief made it difficult. Now you can shorten the link or possibly even make it invisible with no text or same color as background text. This allows you to use an image as the link zone which makes it easier to recognize for most people. I have not tried it myself in x15 yet though. The other option is to use QR codes so that even your printed PDFs can provide a link.
  4. Sure. Particularly with X15. Just keep track of the locations when you create your panoramas and then post a hotlink to the viewer in your plan view.
  5. Yup that works. Great design. Horrible video recording though. Let's figure this one out somehow. Post your plan or get tech support working on it. Do you have SSA ? Crank your FPS up to 60 just to be sure because that looks like about 20 for some reason.
  6. The .mov does not seem to want to download. Maybe post to your Chief Architect account or convert to .mp4 and I think the forum will host and play it for us.
  7. What frame rate are you using ? It needs to be at least 30 for a finished video and ideally 60.
  8. You have way more real estate than I do but the flanking vertical monitors are great for websites and reference material. I love mine.
  9. When you are short on scree space it is a problem. It would be fine if "anywhere" included an existing dropdown or perhaps a user created dropdown.
  10. From a 3D view with all the appropriate layers turned on export as .3DS or .DAE for larger models depending on what Vectorworks will import. This will not be live though if you are thinking you want to edit much of anything.
  11. You should be able to delete the ceiling finish layers from the room definition. Not exactly sure what is what is going on on the left though if that is a separately defined room or if it would require a manual ceiling plane.
  12. Try to grab the header and pull it down to expose and edge you can work with. Mine seems to behave predictably. What version are you running ?
  13. If that is a question then yes that is possible just the way Susan described. You can create your own custom field or repurpose an existing one that is not in use.
  14. Yes. It is convenient to have schedules visible in plan view and there are benefits to that but having the schedule in a cad detail does make it easier to send to layout. Or zoom in to send and use the "Current Screen" option for less trimming.
  15. Very few things actually get created in layout. Create your plan schedules in plan view or a cad detail then send them to layout.
  16. Yes I am making a transition from sata SSD's to m.2 NVMe 4.0's and hope to see a significant performance gain but if you are upgrading from 3.0 to 4.0 that may not be so noticeable. I see the 990 has a pretty quick read speed but slower write than some competitors but not likely noticeable by a human. So the CPU and SSD are the most important unless you are doing RTRT and it looks like you have that covered as well. I like the low latency of the G.Skill RAM you chose so be sure to post back when you have it up and running with a report.
  17. Are you currently running 2 1/2" Sata SSD drives ? I am pretty sure there are others that would be grateful to have the system you are running now but if you have 4K for an upgrade that looks like a pretty sweet build.
  18. Hi Rob, I am not a cabinet guy but here goes.... In the plan you are seeing the "round" schedule callout so the cabinet label is irrelevant unless you allow the schedule to display the label or the Callout and Label, but it appears the schedule is set to display only the callout.
  19. Yes that is a pretty serious no no particularly on a new build. Not that UL always get it correct but you want their backing when there is an issue.
  20. Short answer is no. Perhaps post your computer specifications for more potential options or bite the bullet and get a new one. The only workaround I can think of within chief is to export as .3ds or .dae and render that way.
  21. I think I would start with an auto polygon deck and make the railing visible and change the floor to a Mono Slab. Auto build the roof and copy all the roof planes and raise the copy 6-8 inches and draw the fascia up to the top at the size you want. Then place a break in the original roof planes at the top and draw them back. A couple of well placed cad polygons will give you snap points. This one took me 20 minutes but I am slow. Maybe 8-10 minutes the second time but yours will take a little longer with the extra detail.
  22. I think maybe they are supposed to be.... "I made an odd roofline on a Pavilion" It looks to me they are trying to avoid the perimeter drip and also not have eavestrough. I am not exactly sure where the water does go though... Perhaps to the water feature?
  23. You need to use the delete surfaces tool in 3D and then recreate the symbol within Chief.
  24. Upload to your cloud account and then post the download link or create a stripped down version of the file without fixtures and furnishings etc.
  25. First of all don't post in all caps. You can remove the shading from the materials if you never want to see them in vector view, Vector views display the material patterns. Other wise just turn off the colour if you want B&W.
