  1. I am trying to combine a Electric legend with a schedule. So this thing has to show the CAD symbol, type of elec. fixture, quantity and comment field. I have spent almost an hour searching, and maybe I overlooked it.. but how can I get the row heights smaller on a schedule? I know how to reduce the scale of the 2D image and how to manage the text size and column widths.. but cannot for the life of me find how to adjust the height of the rows.
  2. Pict the post, use the arrow to rotate. If you have a line drawn of the angle you want it to be, use the parallel/perpendicular tool at the bottom and align with that line.
  3. Go to Active Layer Display Options. Make sure this isn't locked.
  4. The only time I had to show these frame details is for a client that had four diff. plans that were going to factory built each section and assembled at the site. Basically a kit. Have you tried controlling by the layers in the Framing Overview camera? Roof and ceiling and walls framing have their own layers, could turn the one's you don't want to show off to get the illustrations.
  5. You know I asked the question before I went for it, wanted my ducks in a row.. before I adding the two styles. If I would have just done it, I would have seen the "scale" tab next to the character height. One of those brain moments. STILL.. would like to know how Chief comes up with these. Thanks Glenn, DE, Eric, and Chop.
  6. Got it now.. thanks... I knew I've seen this before.. just didn't click where.
  7. Sorry for the confusion DE. Where is this dbx Glen? And this exactly what I need.. if I can find it.
  8. Hey DE I took the 1/4" scale @ 6" and the 1/8" scale @ 12" from the defaults setting. Chief does this backwards, at least it seams its backwards. 1/2" scale has 2" text height (OOB). Am I being dyslexic, thought I wrote it right?
  9. OK, I have searched and not finding anything and needing someone's help. I know some of you Chiefer's can go right to the spot and communicate back, and I will appreciate that. I need to create two different default sets and text styles. I remember seeing a chart or topic on how to scale the character height by the text scale. Where is that? I need to create a 3/32" and 3/8" default sets. I am guessing here by using a ratio that if 1/4" is 6" height and 1/8" is 12" height, would 3/32" be 15" and 3/8" be 9". Back in the day using Paperspace in CAD, I could do the math.. but not sure how Chief does it. Thanks in advance.
  10. I am assuming that's the bottom? Not that I am aware of to answer your question. But someone else on here might know of a better way and would be glad to know how myself. The video I attached below, is what I used as my go-to back in 2016. He used roads for the bottom, which might work in your case, trial and error i guess. I used a solid for my pool bottoms and extended the length.
  11. Hey Marc, I wasn't able to open your model. There is no easy way, unless its a rectangle. Even then its multiple steps and layers. You will have to use a lot of poly solids and a lot of molded polylines and various shapes, depths and widths. It is trial and error. The walls and edging are all molding, for example the edging is a molding poly Sill 1, 10" wd x 1.5"thk, the walls are a molding poly CA-001. You just change the height of each one to get the build. Use solids for items like the pool bottom, and misc. items, like I have the stools. I create each molding on its own layer, so I can control later. It hard to pick one to modify, with they are stacked. This way I can lock the ones I am not working. I found a video of instructions a long time ago on this blog.. it helped. I will try to find it for you.
  12. I do the the same as Eric. Create a unique layer usually called "Wall, Invisible 2 turn off".. its a couple extra steps you have to do to turn those off, but def. easy to do.
  13. If a person can't do any of these webinars, I assume they can find on YouTube or somewhere else? Regardless, looks like I will need to add some more ram.
  14. Hey Nick, If I am understanding your request. Under the Chief Architect Core Catalogs is a folder "Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing". Go to Electrical, Outlets, Surface Mounted, Appliances. Pick one that close to what you need, then just note on your legend.
  15. Curious here.. Is this the typical method of doing columns like this, is using "Cabinet, Countertops" instead of a built up column with a wall definition? Will the software build a frame here? Would have solved the light fixture issue if it was a wall. But if this works, and it frames, I can see this saving time, esp. with the job I complete last year, and getting ready to duplicate.
  16. And that's why there is a new bright LED light/fart fan in the that room.. Looking forward to receiving and reading all four books.
  17. Its cool. We are all newbies at the beginning.
  18. That's not the ceiling shown, its your roof plane. Check to see if your ceiling is checked
  19. Thanks Mick, Its been a while since I researched books, and ordered. These two links got me thinking of other projects too, like a pole barn house I am also doing. So I bought the two you listed and two others.. Thanks for the reminder that there is literature out there, that isn't found via Google. Of course wife think these are boring reads.. :-)
  20. Yes it does help. Any terms that point me in a better direction on this style, helps tremendously. Thanks DE
  21. Haven't pulled the plan, but as Eric says, looks like the typical Wall elevation camera. Is the hall at the closet entry separated by an invisible/room divider wall? Another thing to check is the "back clip after" option in the cross section dbx
  22. Speaking for myself, I love Chiefs roof program. Wish it had more layer control (fascia, soffit, etc..), but other than that, once you do as these gents suggest, practice, practice and practice.. throw a bad word or two in there.. it really is cool how the planes can line up. It amazes me what these programmers can do. Good luck
  23. I searched this sight you sent, where did you find this chart? There will be some loads on these, esp. lateral, house is being build in a hurricane wind zone area, so if I get this contract, I will have to rely on engineer before I attempt to design and spec out. Like I mentioned, def not used to this type.. not a 4x4 post by any means. For quoting purposes, I will figure a couple more hours than normal. Thanks Eric!
  24. Hi Eric, Yes I did. Your link looks good too. I know these "slide" over a post of some kind or a built up structure. I'm trying to find out how to design the structural part, or get close enough for a engineer to look at.
