If you are using X10 you need to set the symbol "y" origin to match the "y" size of the symbol. After doing that you might have to re-generate the 2D Block. I think prior versions are the same but I'm not sure.

If you have a different Layer Set for the Electrical Plan (and the Manual Dimensions are on a different Layer then those for Framing) then they will not show on the Saved Framing Plan. If you set up an Annoset for each Plan View (Electrical, Framing, Architectural, etc) then the Dims can automatically be on specified Layers. Learning to use the tools Chief provides and getting that set up before jumping into a project can take a little time but it's well worth the effort.
-
Learn to use Layers, Layer Sets, Annosets and Saved Plan Views. Then send the saved Plan Views to Layout. Do not convert your Plans to CAD Details. The Label in Layout is the "Layout Box Label" which you can suppress by opening the Layout Box dbx.
-
And the REF SET Floor Level is remembered. If it was one floor below (or one floor above) when the Plan View was saved then it will be that floor when the Plan View is opened. This is a huge benefit.

I have custom macros for Stairs - exactly what you are asking for.
-
Quick scroll - 1st letter of macro name Up/Down Arrows PageUp/PageDown Keys Use the mouse wheel.

You would need to select all the other cabinets (that you don't want to match the kitchen) and edit the parameters that are indicated as (D) ie: Default This is a problem when you change the defaults for anything in Chief, all object that are using the defaults will change - be careful.
-
All the time. Multiple Plan View Sets with Annotation Set, Layer Set & Reference Layer Set. I almost always open views from the Layout so I'm always in the correct View. Only when I open a Floor Level do I change the Floor or any of the above. That's just so I can create a new Plan View.

There are also Corbels and Brackets in the Adams Mfr Catalog.

It's great that you are watching the training videos. Another resource that would have answered your question would be to open the Help and search for "Library". Also, for the Forum it would be nice if you take the time to fill in your signature so we know who you are - just makes it a little more personal. See my signature below. Welcome to our world.

Not possible when using Callouts for Labels. Personally, I use the Callouts but Circles for Doors, Hexagons for Windows and Octagons for Cabinets.

I think they've fixed floor and ceiling elevations.
Joe_Carrick replied to Richard_Morrison's topic in General Q & A
That could be to deal with Masonry Exterior Walls. If you have a wall 12 blocks high at 8" each (7.5"+1/2" mortar) with a 2x plate on top it would be 8' 1-1/2". Masonry construction is much more common in the southeast than in the west. -
Doesn't work in Plan View - I'm not sure it did in prior versions but maybe it did. IAE, try a 3D Perspective View.
-
Change the railing to "Solid". Then it will show in the reference plan. ps: I think this is a bug in Chief. It shouldn't matter if the railing is any of the other styles, they should still show in the reference plan.

92.625" (stud) + 4.5" (3 plates) - 0.625" (drywall) = 96.5" That allows for 2 sheets of drywall with 1/2" clearance to rough floor. Sounds pretty standard to me. Typically, I just add 12" increments for higher ceilings, so studs are: 92.625 - nominal 8' ceiling 104.625 - nominal 9' ceiling 116.625 - nominal 10' ceiling 128.625 - nominal 11' ceiling 140.625 - nominal 12' ceiling -
You should not have to download again. After "Turning of the License" you should then be able to "Activate the License" on the current computer just by logging in. I do this at least 8 time a week - everytime I go from home to my office and back.
-
All they did was change the name. By turning off the license you are just deactivating it on that computer.

Just picked the least expensive 4K 55" TV I could find. The only thing you need to do is set up the monitors on your Video Card. My NVidia Geforce GTX780 (3GB) handles all 3 monitors perfectly. The resolutions I have set allow me to move the mouse seamlessly across all 3 monitors.
-
See my signature. I use: The 55" 4K for anything with text (Plan, Section, Elevations, Details) The 30" monitor (wish I had 2) for Library, Email, Internet, etc The 27" Monitor for Perspectives I would never go back to anything less.

U.L. listing for one hour wall (Stucco and 5/8" type 'x' gyp)
Joe_Carrick replied to dshall's topic in General Q & A
They probably are looking for the vertical section to show how the 1-hr separation is continuous thru the floors, ceiling, and roof, etc. This typically is not a problem with a single family residence (garage/house) but would be with the separation of 2 or more dwelling units. City of San Diego, who else? -
Here's a link to the Sierra Pacific Web Site: https://www.sierrapacificwindows.com/ProfessionalResources/TechnicalLibrary It contains 100's of detail sections for their products. The details are available as DWG and/or PDF. These are great for Window Details. Note that each product has it's own set of detail sections so you need to know what product you will be using. I typically import the DWG to a "Detail Plan" then do a bit of clean-up and blocking before adding to my user library (using specifically named folders) so that I have them for the next time I need one. There are separate details for new vs remodel - as well as for each type of window casement awning fixed sliding single hung double hung and for each of their product lines. ps: It would be great if Chief would add all these to the Manufacturer's Library.

Why do you need it? Is a building department requesting the UL # ?
