  1. In the Leader Line dbx there's a setting for ARROW>Auto Position Head. However, if you are using an evaluated macro in the text box it might cause a problem.
  2. You would need to select all the other cabinets (that you don't want to match the kitchen) and edit the parameters that are indicated as (D) ie: Default This is a problem when you change the defaults for anything in Chief, all object that are using the defaults will change - be careful.
  3. All the time. Multiple Plan View Sets with Annotation Set, Layer Set & Reference Layer Set. I almost always open views from the Layout so I'm always in the correct View. Only when I open a Floor Level do I change the Floor or any of the above. That's just so I can create a new Plan View.
  4. There are also Corbels and Brackets in the Adams Mfr Catalog.
  5. Or Framing - Joists, Beams, General Framing Members.
  6. It's great that you are watching the training videos. Another resource that would have answered your question would be to open the Help and search for "Library". Also, for the Forum it would be nice if you take the time to fill in your signature so we know who you are - just makes it a little more personal. See my signature below. Welcome to our world.
  7. Not possible when using Callouts for Labels. Personally, I use the Callouts but Circles for Doors, Hexagons for Windows and Octagons for Cabinets.
  8. That could be to deal with Masonry Exterior Walls. If you have a wall 12 blocks high at 8" each (7.5"+1/2" mortar) with a 2x plate on top it would be 8' 1-1/2". Masonry construction is much more common in the southeast than in the west.
  9. Doesn't work in Plan View - I'm not sure it did in prior versions but maybe it did. IAE, try a 3D Perspective View.
  10. Change the railing to "Solid". Then it will show in the reference plan. ps: I think this is a bug in Chief. It shouldn't matter if the railing is any of the other styles, they should still show in the reference plan.
  11. 92.625" (stud) + 4.5" (3 plates) - 0.625" (drywall) = 96.5" That allows for 2 sheets of drywall with 1/2" clearance to rough floor. Sounds pretty standard to me. Typically, I just add 12" increments for higher ceilings, so studs are: 92.625 - nominal 8' ceiling 104.625 - nominal 9' ceiling 116.625 - nominal 10' ceiling 128.625 - nominal 11' ceiling 140.625 - nominal 12' ceiling
  12. You should not have to download again. After "Turning of the License" you should then be able to "Activate the License" on the current computer just by logging in. I do this at least 8 time a week - everytime I go from home to my office and back.
  13. All they did was change the name. By turning off the license you are just deactivating it on that computer.
  14. Just picked the least expensive 4K 55" TV I could find. The only thing you need to do is set up the monitors on your Video Card. My NVidia Geforce GTX780 (3GB) handles all 3 monitors perfectly. The resolutions I have set allow me to move the mouse seamlessly across all 3 monitors.
  15. See my signature. I use: The 55" 4K for anything with text (Plan, Section, Elevations, Details) The 30" monitor (wish I had 2) for Library, Email, Internet, etc The 27" Monitor for Perspectives I would never go back to anything less.
  16. Here's a link you might find illuminating: https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=1+Hour+UL+Rated+Wall&FORM=IRIBEP Happy hunting,
  17. They probably are looking for the vertical section to show how the 1-hr separation is continuous thru the floors, ceiling, and roof, etc. This typically is not a problem with a single family residence (garage/house) but would be with the separation of 2 or more dwelling units. City of San Diego, who else?
  18. Here's a link to the Sierra Pacific Web Site: https://www.sierrapacificwindows.com/ProfessionalResources/TechnicalLibrary It contains 100's of detail sections for their products. The details are available as DWG and/or PDF. These are great for Window Details. Note that each product has it's own set of detail sections so you need to know what product you will be using. I typically import the DWG to a "Detail Plan" then do a bit of clean-up and blocking before adding to my user library (using specifically named folders) so that I have them for the next time I need one. There are separate details for new vs remodel - as well as for each type of window casement awning fixed sliding single hung double hung and for each of their product lines. ps: It would be great if Chief would add all these to the Manufacturer's Library.
  19. Why do you need it? Is a building department requesting the UL # ?
  20. Check the settings for your graphics card. You probably shouldn't be using "Extended Display". For my setup I have the Windows Toolbar on all 3 displays but the Desktop is only on the large central monitor. With a Laptop you might not have the same options, particularly if you don't have a graphics card separate from the motherboard.
  21. Another case for save in the User Library with "Object Information Panel" fields filled in. It would be nice if CA would do that for all Mfr Libraries.
  22. I seem to remember that may have been the case at one time. Maybe back around v9.5 - X1 but not since. The only way to do that now is by saving a cabinet in the User Library within a sub folder with the Mfr Name. code, door style, etc. I know Cheryl and probably Mark do that. I have a few such cabinets saved myself.
  23. You need to change the file defaults. Currently you have .cabliz files set to open automatically with X9. This is a Windows setting, not CA specific. Windows Menu Settings Default Apps Choose default apps by file type For each of the following file types set the Default to Chief Architect X10 .calibz .plan .layout
  24. I also tried changing the 8993C molding by: Right Click and Place molding profile Reflect horizontally about molding profile Add to User Library as "8993C-R" Then I replaced the Window Exterior Casing with the new one from the User Library. This also worked perfectly. There is no doubt that the molding was defined incorrectly. You should report this to CA_Content as a bug. All moldings should be defined with the start point at the bottom-left.
  25. This is definitely a problem with the molding itself. It appears that molding was created with the origin at the wrong side (right-bottom instead of left-bottom). I replaced it with a molding from the Core Library (3x10 Handrail) with size set to 5-1/2" x 1-1/2" and it works perfectly.
