It could be done, but it would require an NVP for "heel_height". The only way I know to do that currently would be with a custom field in the OIP. It's probably not worth the effort since you would have to assign that value to all roof planes.

Has anyone tried setting the deck ceiling height to match the top of railing? I think that might help with the dimensions.

In California (CRC) a guardrail has to be a minimum of 42" if the floor surface is more than 30" above grade. Evidently the IRC requires only 36".

Evidently this only happens on a Mac - and then only under certain conditions.

IMNSHO there should be some other options to update the macros IOW,provide 3 options: replace macros in the library item with macros in the plan replace macros the plan with macros in the library item don't change either I know about @Renerabbittmethod but it's often not that simple. Having 3 choices provided by chief would make it so much easier.

FWIW, this is simply a matter of the Room Name assignment. You can edit the name in Room Types and the Room Labels will be changed in both plans & schedules automatically. Chief has only a fixed number of Room Functions. You can have as many Room Types aka Room Names as you want. Those each have their own set of Defaults and will automatically be created/modified accordingly as long as "Use Defaults" is selected. ps: I'm somewhat of a dinosaur and prefer the older names. I don't consider the word Master to be prejorative, sexist or racist but if you want to be PC all you need to do is modify the names (in existing plans and/or in plan templates).

Can you use a custom Millwork Symbol, Mounts on Wall ? Set a stretch plane at the center of the width. You can then size it to whatever you need.

Use a Lintle as the board the track mounts to.

Put a 1/16" thick interior & exterior layer in the wall type. or specify a wall covering in the room. Then select the paint color from one of the paing catalogs as the material

Single family residences don't usually have to comply with ADA requirements. That said, a clear space in a bathroom for wheel chair access should be at least 36"x48" and not be impeded by a door swing. It should provide that clear space in front of all fixtures when the door is closed. The general principle is to allow a wheelchair to enter the bathroom, close the door and manuever to all fixtures so as to use them.

My grandkids have to buy their own shoes. OTOH, you just need to bill for more hours. IAE, I bill by the sq ft --- which depends on the type of project.

Maybe there's a pony wall about 2" thicker that isn't being displayed on the plan. Then if the measurements are to the exterior of that wall you would get the discrepancy. We would need the actual Chief plan file - not a pdf - in order to know exactly.

Sounds like a bug. But in reality it's reporting the wall layer's material, not the room's material. What happens if you edit the wall layer?

Do your wall types include a "Paint Layer" ?

Chief has never handled track mounted garage doors correctly. The plan view has always been for the solid one piece door with the dooor in the closed position between the Jambs, not behing them. I sent in a suggestion about this about 4-5 years ago but I don't recall any response. I fake it by using a Doorway smaller that the actual garage door Invisible no-room definition wall inside the exterior wall then place the garage door in that invisible wall IOW the opening in the exterior wall is what's going to be built and the garage door is inserted in the invisible wall which is inside the garage. The tracks will then be basically inside the garage, not within the opening in the exterior wall. For rollup doors I use the same method.

Default sets include layersets. That should handle everything.
