  1. I agree with Glenn’s general assessment. It’s only going to be an extremely rough approximation though because water needs to be contained by the creek bed/river bank and as such: the terrain itself needs to be more accurately defined first. The terrain in the attached example will result in a creek notably different than the one drawn in with CAD. First fix (or at least refine) the terrain definition and then the creek will be much easier.
  2. I haven't been able to reproduce this issue myself. Thanks Michael. I will give your 2nd suggestion a try. Is this a known problem with Chief that an isometric camera will move? Did you ever give that second suggestion a try?
  3. This can actually be done with the Reference Display and custom macros, but I personally just recommend using rich text boxes with the %room.name% macro. You just need 2 text boxes (1 for each text size) and you simply copy and paste as desired.
  4. I can't speak for Kevin, but the most obvious answer is that they can't be kept live that way.
  5. It might be know to a small number of people. I do recall having seen it before, but I also hardly...if ever...send orthographic 3D cameras to layout and as such it's not something I've personally had to contend with. The real question isn't whether its a "known" issue or not but whether or not Chief has been made aware of it and how many people have reported it. If only one person is reporting the problem, then its likely going to take a back seat to 100 other issues being reported by 2 people...and those are going to take a back seat to the 20 other issues being reported by 3 people, etc.
  6. The whole key to Kevin's issue is the "Isometric" part. To create a true isometric view, he needs to be using an orthogaphic camera. Try sending one of those orthographic views to layout and then try moving, resizing, reshaping, and updating those views. I think you'll pretty quickly see the problem.
  7. Another couple potential methods: Send To Layout using Current Screen As Image Use Perspective Cameras with a 10 degree Field of View (the smallest it will go).
  8. There you go, that's what we needed. Use Craftsman style grids and set Lites Across to 3 and Lites Vertical to 2.
  9. It's not quite as straight forward in previous version but definitely still doable using Text Macro Management.
  10. Definitely need some clarification on this one. Probably best to post an image of what you're talking about.
  11. Many ways, here's an easy one though... %area.to_sq_m.sq_m% ...Converts the square feet to square meters and then displays that numerical value as rounded square meters with notation (as long as you have Use Default Formatting checked). You could also use... %area.to_sq_m.round(2)%m²
  12. You’ve already drawn the lines, just convert to 3D molding lines. Not ideal I know, but probably better then changing the size of your window and ending up with muntins that don’t reach the frame.
  13. Hey guys, just to give y’all a quick heads up, I’m in the process of deleting all my free YouTube content.  For at least a short while I’ll leave the unlisted custom tutorial videos that some of you payed for, but the rest are coming down.  LORD willing, at some point I’ll start posting videos again on another platform, but until then, I’m closing this current chapter.  If you need any new videos at archived videos you’ll have to contact me directly at alaskansons@gmail.com

Till then, may God bless and keep you.  And Happy Easter!  HE is risen!!!!

Thank you for taking a stand! I hear there are a few new social sites coming on line soon ;) He has risen indeed!

  14. No disagreement on the usefulness of the Tudor Arch, but just FYI, you can get a perfectly crisp peak using the Shape tab. To do so, just use a single Top Inside Corner and not both...
  15. Plenty of Chief users here who use Revit and/or Archicad. Maybe try posting over in the seeking services section and see if somebody is willing to do some occasional conversions for you.
  16. I’m all over the board on this type of thing. Complete creative control, basic cracker box, no frills, on a flat lot? Possibly before lunch. Complex sloped lot, a super particular client, and a lot of little custom details? Very easy to spend a full week or more. 32 hours sounds completely reasonable to me though for what you roughly described.
  17. It's worse than you think too. Read the post again..
  18. I suspect he (possibly mistakenly) made a special exception because of how heated the conversation had become. Chief normally does not respond that way and I really don't think they should either. It's not fair to the hundreds if not thousands of other issues waiting in the queue that many people find far more important than this one.
  19. I've personally sent in literally hundreds of unique requests and bug reports and aside from instances where Chief needs some additional information or clarification, I basically never hear from them again on the subject and only know they've been working on it when I see it in an update or new release. I don't think this is unreasonable either. I don't expect them to keep everyone updated. I sure as $#!+ wouldn't.
  20. The OP was using a CMU wall. For whatever reason, Chief won't cut beam pockets into Concrete materials (probably a bug). You can however change your Concrete material definition to something other than the Concrete material type (Masonry for example).
