Yep...that exactly what I was suspecting. -
Gap At Lintel For Tile/stone Exterior Walls
Alaskan_Son replied to AxelRose's topic in General Q & A
Not at my computer to check, but does the wall definition have properly defined interior and exterior layers? -
Okay okay. I usually try to use qualifiers like "… that I know of..." or "...unless I'm missing something...". I guess I sort of dropped the ball this time Anyway, looking forward to your video to see what you've come up with!
-
I'm guessing you know this, but they're probably gonna need to see the plan too.
-
Can you attach the plan? Not sure why it wouldn't be working the way you're doing it.
-
I don't think you are going to get this answered without a plan because it works fine for me.

I couldn't remember her Chief member name but after skimming through the "time to show your goodies" thread I found it pretty quickly… https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/user/513-dr0591/

Hey Dave, We actually have a tool for that...Build>Image>Create Image. It's funny. I stumbled upon it a little while back while I was doing the same thing you're doing in your video.
-
Definitely doable using 3D molding polylines.

I read your original post a couple days ago and I got to thinking about it afterward. You can't do what you're talking about automatically, but it's really not all that difficult to do manually. At around 12 minutes I think, it's a little longer than I would like, but here's a relatively quick video going over some of the limitations we have and what I think are some fairly simple solutions. It's longer than it needed to be for the particular issue you brought up Johnny, but I wanted to address a couple other scenarios while I was at it...

Not at my computer right now to check this, but have you tried simply using control to override the snaps? Also, what are the structure settings in your room DBX with regard to the ceiling? Probably a good idea to just attach the plan for a better answer.
-
Okay, gotcha. That's because its a custom door and not actually a "glass door".
-
Also...not sure what you're doing, but if you're trying to disconnect an entire line from a polyline, the quicker way is usually just to toggle Edit Object Parts on.
-
I think the only way is through an elevation view. Place the muntin over the glass where you want it and then select the door, and in the edit toolbar you should see a new tool called Load Muntins. Click it.
-
In X7, you need to double click the break line tool itself and then select the area you want to break.
-
Which version are you using?
-
Don't think it's your video card. I get the same issue. Its definitely a product of the broken section line and shadows though. Odd...very odd. You should probably send in to tech support.

Select that roof plane and uncheck boxed eve. What you're seeing is the boxed eve. You can also set the length to 40" or more and that fixes it as well.

In my experience and in my opinion, it really depends on your local building department and your subs. My personal technique is to give as little as possible to the building department and then decide what...if anything...beyond that is needed for actual construction. If it's something I'm doing myself, I really don't need much at all in the way of extra details. If there are a lot of subs involved I'll add more details as deemed necessary. I like to keep things relatively minimal either way though. The more clutter, the harder it is to sort through, and the more unnecessary notes and details you have, the more likely the IMPORTANT details are to be missed or ignored.

Why Won't Mirrors Display In Elevation, Cross Section Views?
Alaskan_Son replied to conwaynorth1's topic in General Q & A
Yeah, I think you're probably right. I do agree that there is very little value too. -
Is This Possible? - Auto Cad Wall Details

You know… I didn't go over it in the video, but you could also use a CAD mask and just create section views of actual walls in the plan rather than drawing little walls off to the side. -

Here's a quick video. Nothing too fancy, but hopefully it points you in the right direction. -
I think it has to do with Chief. Its designed to work with whatever version of Sketchup was current during the time they wrote the necessary code. X7 probably only worked with versions 14 and prior, X5 only worked with the versions 13 and prior, X4 with versions 8 and prior and so on. Or at least roughly.

Having Issues Trying To Create An Auto Cad Cross Section
Alaskan_Son replied to DakotaContractor's topic in General Q & A
Barret, Your problem is that your layers are not turned on in your Section View layer set. I think you're turning the layers on in your plan view, but the plan view and camera views are using different layer sets.
