Your plan appears to be corrupted. Try attaching again or send in to tech support. Might be related to the problems you're having with roof. I'm not sure because I can't open plan. Thanks for posting plan though!
-
Just to clarify, both for yourself and for anyone else reading this, there's no need for group selecting or moving from floor to floor with Edit All Roof Planes, or with using the material painter in plan mode.
-
Gotcha. I'd bet this was a result of the particular material painter mode you were using.

Whens the last time you clicked Update Library Catalogs?

Adding 3 spaces to the end of your text seems to at least center everything. Strange indeed.

Thanks Rob. I like it! Just switched out the default icon for yours.

Sunlight Overhead Or Top Lighted Only Image?
Alaskan_Son replied to Morphious's topic in General Q & A
I see whats going on. You added the sun angle to your plan (which apparently gives you a different dbx when you try to edit your default sun) . I would just temporarily delete that and then try my instructions again. What Glenn suggested should do about the same thing, I just think the other way is easier. -
I know you're not the only one who feels that way. Curious though...when is the last time you tried using the material painter? I've been using it since X3 and the only issues I've ever had have been with walls and only because of the ways walls and rooms work (really a matter of user error and misunderstanding at the time). I think a lot of you guys are really missing out on a valuable tool because of bad past experience. I really encourage you guys to give it another shot. Just make sure "Blend" is toggled off though.
-
By the way, I really don't know why some of you guys have a problem using the material painter. As long as you have Blend Colors With Materials Toggled off (and even that is debatable), its a perfectly legitimate and extremely efficient method.

No need to rebuild roof. Edit all roof planes or material painter changes all roofing material. If you rebuild roof, it will take on the default material settings from the roof structure tab. I think what Joe was saying is that you also need to change the settings in the default structure tab to keep material from reverting.

Shelves Shpwing Through Door In Vector View, Flat Panel Doors

...and make sure to submit it to tech support. I'm pretty sure the reason a lot of issues never get addressed is because we all assume somebody else is going to report it or that posting here in the forum is somehow gonna fix it (which of course it probably won't). -

You might find that you need to add some light sources of your own too (3D>Lighting>Add Lights) and just toggle Casts Shadows off. -

In X7 it would be under 3D>Lighting>Adjust Lights>Default Sun -

Octagon Ceiling In Center Of Flat Ceiling

This isn't exactly what the OP was after, but some pretty creative ideas nonetheless. I like it! Nice work. -
Until you get that sorted out, there are other methods. 2 that come to mind... 1. Place a break, select one of the segments, and then click the Disconnect Selected Edge tool. It should now behave like a complete break. 2. Place a break and then toggle Connect CAD Segments off. It should also behave like a complete break.

I hate to argue the genius thing...but I'm really only using the tools that Chief has provided. Actually, most of what I brought up is covered pretty well in the Help files (which by the way, I strongly encourage people to use more often). I really appreciate the kind words though Dave

It works for me.

Custom Shower - Tiled Base - How To Create
Alaskan_Son replied to HomesByDesign's topic in General Q & A
I have a feeling Graham is just talking about using cabinet partitions. Anyway, that's just a guess. I think walls, pony walls, cabinets, partitions, polyline solids, solids, slabs, etc. all work just fine and all have their benefits. I personally like to place a thin (1-4" to 1/2") custom countertop (or similar) on top of my curbs and half-walls though as it provides for a more realistic look and for better material control. -
Thanks Joe. I appreciate that : )

Here's that followup video. Goes over a few more various options as well as how to create a custom toolbar configuration.
