  1. The reason your laptop set that way so that NVDIA GPU will not drain you battery.. Normally I go down the "Program Settings" tab, set checkbox "only programs on this computer", hit the "Add" button and find the program that you want to run on nVidia card (e.g. Chief Architect). I go down and select nVidia processor.
  2. No chance, the only thing adjustable (by macros) on the scheduler is a label. Like you stated, use engineered lumber to get actual size.
  3. That would be correct. Stupid me, first I went in and changed the binary version # inside of skp file, I got an error from Sketchup stating that version 15.1.331 can not open 14.1.xxx files Please upgrade. What?! So I went to sketchup and saved it as V15 and had no issues with CA opening it up.
  4. Thank you, everyone Final product. I did use the sketchup model and added missing wings on the back that go against the wall. One thing I did NOT realized that CA does not SUPPORT 17.0.1899 sketchup, or anything 17 for that matter. [likely have came out after the current version of CA] WallLaundrySink.calibz

  6. I have opened both plan and layout files that were created on Mac on my PC. No issues at all. Where you can see the difference is in Layout files. On the Mac - particular layout box was one (1) line longer I believe due to font differences. So what Mr Dermot said is 100% valid. The concern goes away once a PDF is generated out of layout. Pdf works well across platforms. I do not own mac, but overall I was impressed how well chief runs on Macs.
  7. Windows Media Video - is desupported format as well. Willl not play on Iphone/Ipad, mac, android.
  8. anyone has a symbol for that? http://www.homedepot.com/p/MUSTEE-Utilatub-24-in-x-20-in-Structural-Thermoplastic-Wall-Mount-Utility-Tub-in-White-19W/202041459
  9. I though this platform relies on MS Silverlight. Silverlight is not supported by MS Edge or Chrome. I was not aware that you could even run Microsoft's "Expression Encoder 4" on Win10. Even IF you can, I would not recommend as most PPL may not be able to play these screencasts. Either way development stopped 4 years ago...
  10. I would replace 120G ssd with at least 500Gb. Some of these could be found @ 100$. (or even choose 1T) Also with SSD drives are not measured in increments of 1024 but 1000. 500Gb = 465Gb formatted.
  11. Yes but this is not a complicated case... Try split floor plan, and knee wall staircase both sides, followed by short 4' supporting wall on one side, connected to a landing, with x inches over the landing having railing above knee wall, turning 180 over the same support wall again with knee wall exposed on both sides....
  12. LOL I love updated newel posts.... These thin things are Newels? Really? And the gap on the left between the a newel and a baluster. is100% up to a IBC (GBC). And the glass paneling looks like Joseph-Ignace Guillotin came back to life and designed it himself.... With a nice wide gaps big enough to fit a child and may be an adult. Not sure if this other paneling or disconnected railing is better... Jokes aside... Fine, no big deal. I just want someone from CA to post a video how to create knee wall staircase. All the steps.
  13. Anyone has this? Number of old library items using this font...
  14. If I understand correctly, it is because your "open to below" room at the floor 3 has the wrong ceiling (B) value: 358 5/8", and it should be 377 3/8" - "Open to below rooms" should be adjusted by Floor Structure (L) value +18 3/4".
  15. >My complete up to date version 8 crashes for no observable reason and no specific activity. Save your preferences, toolbar's, etc. Now uninstall Chief Architect. Delete/rename all old folders. Do a brand new clean install, and test it to see if it crashes. If it does not, you have corrupt outdated toolbar configuration, template, user library or something similar. Start testing with a clean configuration.
  16. Thank you Dan, It is not always reproducible, I'll keep my eye on that. It is working now. BT
  17. I sometimes get weirdness esp on cellphone where page constantly refreshes (every 5 second?), and if i scroll down at each refresh screen moves to the top. By the time I scroll down page refreshes and I am looking at the first post again. Anyone else?
  18. Autosave saves project every x minutes inside of autosave plan file. Autosave saves file to the same folder as archives, name in format project_auto_save.plan Autoarchive preserves an existing copy of your the plan file when you manually saving the file, in case plan file gets corrupted. Next setting effects archive filename uniqueness IF you set CA to archive daily - every day CA will make another copy of your plan file every time you save keeping unique archive once per day. e.g. adding date and timestamp project_2016_12_05.plan to archive hourly - every hour CA will make another copy of your plan file every time you save ensuring unique archive once an hour. ( therefore if you manually save 20 times during same hour - only one archive copy will exist ) previous save - every time you save previous version will get archived. > Does previous Save mean it will only Archive the saved version? Meaning I have to hit Cntrl 'S' every couple minutes to make sure it's archiving that last saved version? Correct. > Where does the auto save every 2 minutes end up? Autoarchive has nothing to do with autosave. See above. Autosave creates file In the same folder as auto archive with _auto_save.plan ending. In addition software creates undo plan in %temp%
  19. You need to a) website logout and close all PC/MAC browsers. b ) Note 5 chrome delete cookies c) navigate android to chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com and login from that point both desktop and tablet/phone work correctly.
  20. Every single track builder here uses these knee-wall stair cases, and some custom. I countless times posted suggestion to support knee-walls, and please don't tell me that the only way to make these in chief is to use ramps. Also autocad callouts <HERE> is a must for any serious software. Including the DETAIL callouts. Same applicable gable pediments. One should be able to attach symbol under a gable without having to redraw it every single time using psolids.
  21. > Do you realize that you can draw a basline polyline in Chief too?? I can make baseline polyline via build roof object , can delete baseline polyline, I can convert into regular polyline. I wish I could draw it like softplan Sketch Roof But I do agree, X9 features are too early to tell,
  22. 100% agreed - Stairs tools horrible and need a revamp. - Solid tools needs revamp - Roofing tools ugh [ you should be able to draw baseline polyline just like with softplan ] - I do not understand why gable pediments symbols can not be attached under the roof and instead I have to have flying in the air gable brackets, or stashed in the attic pediments. The features in the video are underwhelming.
  23. I am no expert but I have never seen shed dormer done that way. I had 5 minutes today so I recorded a video. Dear mountaineer, there are two types of dormers: structural and fake (floating). Your structural dormer has no structural support. It really needs a wall to be placed on. Second, the front wall of your dormer (with the window) can not be supported by gutters it needs to be at minimum to sit on the roof baseline. Third area where ceiling is 1" or 10" from the floor is not useful for anything.... Placing Autodormer [In very slow motion] BrownTiger
  24. Exterior? Core Catalog > Architectural > Door & Doorways > Entryways > Doors without Transoms, there are numerous individual sidelight panels... And making one takes nothig
