  1. Thank you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOs10u0TVuo I was trying imitate softplan. See above. It would be very nice to be able to draw or even convert polyline into RBP.
  2. For my learning I took rectangle structure 30'x60' split into two by interior wall into left and right part. Lowered left structure floor plate by 30". Build>roof baseline poly-line. Polyline created spanning entire structure. I would like to split into polyline left and right for two gables at different ridge top height 30" apart. The reason I am asking softplan allow you to "sketch the roof" - drawing multiple closed polylines. Chief Architect has make baseline polyline. But I can not for the life of me figure out how to split it. With softplan all I need to do is to sketch two sections. CA -? How's baseline polyline suppose to work?
  3. In other words you are saying You need similar to AutoCad .Net support in ChiefArchitect. http://help.autodesk.com/view/ACD/2016/ENU/?guid=GUID-C3F3C736-40CF-44A0-9210-55F6A939B6F2 == You Can get every room area sq ft, but you can not get room flooring type. You know every roof plane sq ft, but you don't know - the roof finish. CA needs to give users real macro language.
  4. Creating symbol in CA is painful. I would use SketchUp, export it as Autocad file, import it into CA. And I think this is what CA recommends anyway
  5. no, This is what you need to provide: 1) proxy 2) Network, notice redirects. "/" redirected to ...
  6. 1) Are you using proxy? May be this is proxy redirects? 2) Can you reproduce with no plugins? create a new windows shortcut "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --disable-extensions See IF you can reproduce the error. Make sure it has two dashes "--" You can also increase redirect Firefox about:config network.http.redirection-limit 40 Chrome B
  7. >Can not load this site to many redirect with chrome I do not see this. Redirect could be also caused by certain browser extensions. Redirects are GET request with code 302. In the chrome right-click empty space, select "Inspect", select Network tab, and hit refresh page. See what exactly generates 302's. Also it makes a difference if you logged in or not.
  8. And the issue is that PL does not want to adjust Stem Wall height after moving the floor? Move floor up +6", move it down -6" and adjust Stem Wall (I) -6"... What is really the issue?
  9. That's true. All finish schedule does is just states what is in the structure tab. Material List computes details and is correct. +1 rep
  10. I think using save as would be the fastest method with chief architect. Copy plan and layout file in a new project folder delete the framing and what you do not need leaving cameras in place. Have three base plans: one story, two story and 1 1/2.
  11. I think you can try either: explode the dormer [move components to a new dormer layer/make it hidden] or copy auto dormer layer to something else and hide it.
  12. This estimating is pretty disappointing. Some items are padded house wrap, by some unknown amount.
  13. Items on material list.. Where do they get their names.... Attached is an issue I've been having.... 1) There is no chance I have 14 rim joists, but there is a 100% chance I have 14 floor joists. 2) Not sure why "joist lumber" instead of "Floor Joists - Lumber" Is there any way to trace SF124 to a location? What exactly is "Cannot find: SF" and where could it be located on the plan?
  14. My professor in school was always adamant about us NOT using the word "WOOD". Without making rated joke, he always repeated: It is not a wood, it is a lumber. Wood is ... Same with "cement walls". === Go into layers and turn off displays for "walls, Normal" layer. You should be able to see wood framing. No way to tell if this is rims or some ceiling beam that you placed. Alternatively upload your floorplan.
  15. ALL depends on how you building the roof. During building in the Framing panel uncheck Eave and Gable Fascia and Eave Sub Fascia. You can set the roof settings and manually place just one plane. If you already built the roof plane, and your cuts are correct follow Perry and delete the fascia board. Again if you reframe - it will come back.
  16. A picture is most likely imported in GDI units compatible with the display scalefactor = 1.0. Picture size is identical no matter what scale layout box is displayed. If you do not want your picture distorted scale it using a corner handle (vs sides).
  17. Because it is not how it works. You tell the printer what you want your job to be printed on, DPI's, and you may even be able to specify the tray. And printer will pick a suitable paper. >why not "size = automatic" May be in PCL 7 or 8 HP will add scaling and correctly handling bi-directional communication and queries - with multiple spoolers; and every manufacture will adopt it immediately, everyone will buy new printers: but likelihood of that is pretty low. In Windows OpenFile(Printer), WritePrinter/ReadPrinter api's do not work, they are a joke. No software vendor that I know of uses these. Setting / Getting DeviceCapabilities like DC_PAPERSIZE returns hardcoded values from the driver and not printer, getting /setting DevMode's are broken; and querying PCL printer spoolers are not reliable (90% chance will fail). I would not keep my hopes up.
  18. 1) You setup layout size via File>Print>Drawing Sheet Setup. 2) forget about using physical printer. 3) Use adobe acrobat printer. Acrobat allows print as image and scale printing to fit the printer page. 4) When pdf is generated you can examine it, to see that you are satisfied with what generated.
  19. Most of the time it is a symbol. But to give Chief a credit it offers to replace it with another font....
  20. Select Text box and hit center object
  21. It doesn't sound like you created a molding. the shape is very odd. Find CA-001 add to empty project, select it again and add to user library/ give it a name. Now create room molding polyline and see if your the new profile you added shows up in the user library. Molding is a "CLOSED SHAPE". What you have is not, it is a combination of multiple shapes put together. Height also must match. This may be helpful. <link>
  22. NEC 408.8 ( A ) Damp Locations. A receptacle installed outdoors in a location protected from the weather or in other damp locations shall have an enclosure for the receptacle that is weatherproof when the receptacle is covered (attachment plug cap not inserted and receptacle covers closed). (Gasketed Outlet) An installation suitable for wet locations shall also be considered suitable for damp locations. A receptacle shall be considered to be in a location protected from the weather where located under roofed open porches, canopies, marquees, and the like, and will not be subjected to a beating rain or water runoff. All 15- and 20-ampere, 125- and 250-volt nonlocking receptacles shall be a listed weather-resistant type. ( B ) Wet Locations. (1) 15- and 20-Ampere Receptacles in a Wet Location. 15- and 20-ampere, 125- and 250-volt receptacles installed in a wet location shall have an enclosure that is weatherproof whether or not the attachment plug cap is inserted. All 15- and 20-ampere, 125- and 250-volt nonlocking receptacles shall be listed weather-resistant type It is up to your building inspector to interpret it. I would install a gasketed outlet.
  23. Exactly. Everyone loves high ceilings! This roof is costly to build and not practical. Judging by windows in the pictures, his model looks wider than the custom builder he was trying to imitate. The builders opening is 56'. In my area to have unbraced roof (snow load and wind burst) he will need a 1 3/4" x 16" LVL rafters for 28' span opening. (possibly 18") Any LVL rafter over 16" wide requires two ply's or 3.5". I will not even mention insulating roof like that.
