May be a foolish question, but does changing the function of the spacebar not cause a conflict when in a textbox? Or does CA switch its function when in a textbox already?

I moved from intel to the AMD in my signature for my latest PC. I have had it a year now. I have compared it to several others in some of Graham's tests we did some time back. Search the forum and you should be able to find that thread; lots of good info and results in it. I think it was something like, "Let's PBR" or something like that; Graham@TheKitchenAbode will remember. Also, like Graham said above, I have not noticed any real difference in performance on the AMD vs. intel in the day-to-day grind.

Please excuse my wording; I don't mean to confuse you. Lord knows I stay confused enough without dragging you into my confusion. I'm not talking about a different version of CA. I mean when you develop a preliminary design and forward to the client, do you do a save-as to a slightly different filename to use for the next phase of changes, leaving you last design intact in case the client comes back, having changed his mind, and wants the old design or something from it in the new design? That's my workflow so I can always go back to a previous point in the design. But that means I have multiple files, with slightly different names (my scheme) for each project in the same project folder. I have to make sure I am always working on the current file. If not, I may accidentally be working on an older file that doesn't have the current changes. I think that's what Rob may have been referring to in his comment above about "And I assume you re-open the files using the 'open recent files' option?"

Not even different versions during the design phase? How do you keep up with design variations? When you say "one file per job," are you referring to project file, or Chief file? That would be make a big difference to my workflow and my understanding of your dilemma!

My first thought. That's usually the first thing I do...go to my All Layers On layerset, make sure all layers are actually on in the ALDO, and then check if they are on a different layer for some reason. It happens sometimes; don't know why.

Just be careful with some of these. Check the polygon count as some of them are nice, but are quite large in size, and may slow down some systems.

This works great for condocs, but during the design phase, when the client still isn't quite sure what they want, the auto railings and posts sure work quick to represent different design ideas.

If you don't want the post to move after breaking the original railing wall, pick the center railing wall and reverse its wall layers from the edit toolbar (wall with line and 2-arrows). That prevents the walls from rejoining if you accidentally adjust one of the end wall handles.

Eric is talking about wall breaks. Draw a couple CAD lines; dimension them where you want the breaks, and then break the railing wall at the CAD lines. The posts will move.

Dogear arch (for a regular garage door). Don't think you can get Chief to do the wide space above the door between it and the arch like the PDF. Will probably require a regular garage door, sans trim, and take some creative work with psolids, 3D molding lines, etc. std dogear

When doing these "barndominiums," I usually just draw the 2x6 stud wall continuous and use slabs or polyline solids for the posts. That way you maintain your room definition and defaults. I also find this method makes it much easier to position the posts so they don't move around on their own, especially the post height. edit: My comment above was really for the "real world" rather than the model.

I usually just frame the 2x6 stud walls between the posts. Keeps everything clean that way.

My bad. I wasn't offering my services; I don't do custom macros but many of these guys do. Several on this forum do help with macro advice from time to time and from their own time. But they also offer custom macro work for those who need it for a reasonable fee.

You are in the right forum. The Seeking Services forum would be the one to go to if you already knew you needed custom macros; or contact members directly who respond, such as Michael.

You can certainly make that banquette like the pic; I have done similar. I think you are on the right track with the short cabinets. That way your base molding can be directly applied. I would probably use polyline solids for the cushions. You can possibly find cushions at 3D Warehouse but the poly count may be huge. CA has a trestle table symbol very similar to that one as well as the bench and side chair. Good luck.
