Would be my first choice.

Have you tried a lower pitched framed ceiling over the great room but under the main roof? Will take some testing to see what pitch would work. Also might require a structural ridge on the high main roof over the great room area to carry the load of the main roof rafters. A 2-story great room ceiling with a reverse gable coming out the back and over the rear porch might work also.

I think Eric means sending the table to the layout twice, side by side, and covering the bottom half of one and the top half of the other and adjusting their positions to match. If not, my apologies to Eric.

Lived and worked in Texas many years. Even in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area the soils are terrible; lots of foundation problems on older houses. Lots of work for foundation restoration guys though.

Open one of the walls I changed and you will see it under the "texture" tab for "define material." I used the existing interior-4 wall, copied it to an interior-4 black, went to the fir 16" OC texture for that wall, changed the pattern material color to black, and then to the texture tab and checked "blend with texture." Can do it in half the time it took to type this. One down side is the studs will show the blended black color in any framing view.

Michael, I copied your wall-type to one with a black and "blend with texture" checked. I then framed some of the problem walls using the new wall-type. Seems to work OK for this type of view. E-6 Test Plan.plan

Are those walls framed? What you are seeing is apparently the subfloor below. Try building the framing for those walls.

It appears, from your pic with the room square footage, that none of your interior walls are room-defining.

Don't know why anyone would give David a negative vote for his obviously good instructions. Covid 19 at work I guess. I bumped you up one, David - at least you are now back to even. Thanks for your input.

Just be careful. You still have to add in the $ for the memory and M2 SSD and find a laptop that you can upgrade (assuming you don't order one already upgraded). Have you considered a used one? Might get a better machine for less that way; risky, I know.

Me too. When I see the word "strapping" I think Simpson or coiled straps for wind bracing. Around hear we call them purlins - wood or metal, doesn't matter - same word used.

^^ what he said. I was one of the ones in that conversation at the time. I would get cabinet labels from cabinets on the backside of a wall I was doing in section; crazy stuff going on at the time.

@DzinEyeType the @ key and then continue typing the username. It will pop a list of usernames for you to choose from. You may have to type 2,3 or more letters before the one you want comes up.

Interesting workflow, Rene. I can certainly see how you can save some valuable time using your system. Thanks for explaining the "working view;" that seems to tie everything together well. I also use a "working plan view" but usually only add things like dimensions as temporary dims during the design phase. If I add them too soon I will almost always have to move them around for condocs which takes even more time. The exterior dims I usually do auto after deleting any temp dims. Interior dims are another story altogether. Thanks again.

Search the forum for this topic; several comments on various ways to do this. Some work better than others in certain areas (explained in some of the replies), but your text will almost always have to be adjusted some; as they say, "Your results may vary."

Hey, Rene. I am always impressed by your ability to get soooo much more out of this software than I. But, like most things CA, your workflow would be a "disaster" applied to mine. The SPV's are a tremendous time saver for me, especially because of the saved defaults. With my aging memory I would totally destroy a set of plans if I was always changing defaults "on the fly." But, to each his own. Thanks for all of your valuable input of how you use this software.

They all look the same height to me too. I'm on Chrome also.
