  1. Perry, the only way to get that in Chief is copy and paste from Word, but it won't work in label. You would have to just paste text where you want it.
  2. Be nice if we had the x2 button in our text. Probably have to use windows alt key codes.
  3. I have never done just a room for materials, but i get same results. I think it could be because walls can be more than just for that room, so probably excluded.
  4. Tom, you may wanna post here in the Home Talk Forum. https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/forum/5-qa/
  5. If you have material region it doesn't seem to affect it for some reason, looks clean. You cannot pull it back to material region surface unless you are cutting the surface by the thickness of the drywall.
  6. Yep, was parked on the page for a bit before I posted and didn't even see your post Ross. Definitely works this way.
  7. Anything that is on a layer can be switched off in material list from my understanding. This is why we have the "m" in ALDO. So if you control the layers, the reporting would be very accurate.
  8. Just use the "edit wall intersections" tool in the bottom toolbar when you click on the wall. Make sure the upper(glass) wall is being displayed. Pull back the intersection to the face of the drywall.
  9. Joey, you could do that with material regions as well. Just don't cut surface. Use material regions or casing for doors as it looks you have already done.
  10. Not familiar with version 10 but if you have glass blocks in library use that. Reduce the sizing and you get the grid and transparency.
  11. Alan, open the trim tools and there is quoins there. Place and move and resize as needed. Only thing I see that might be problem is above window...they don't rotate. Maybe create symbol in library might solve that.
  12. I think that the distance is hard coded into Chief. Believe it is 16" to centreline of beam for the offset and only way to change that is manual edit(should be a setting for this IMO). The post to end of beam has this offset available, once again measured to centre of posts. I have yet to see any logic in the beam spacing. It will make sure you don't exceed your spacing but you get such oddball placement. Decks that I draw and build tend to be so custom that it is inevitable you will have to manipulate manually at some point; not a big issue. Would be nice to have a few more tools in the box though.
  13. You could always use polyline box and use macro for square footage as the label for under roof...just drag box to suit your needs and put it on separate layer to have it out of the way. Not sure about what you want for veneer...brick or stone veneer? Area of materials as seen on elevation? Area as seen in plan view?
  14. You can create them using general framing member. You could use this for your strongback in your other post as well. Lets you create whatever size framing member you need. Create your first one and set it where you want it then use the multiple copy tool to place more at desired intervals.
  15. I played around with it a bit. Added a pony wall where the windows would butt up to house because you would need a wall there. so pony wall has doorway full width of that alcove. If it is an as built, then you could drag the wall back towards kitchen and extend windows in those couple inches. 507 Dahlia Susan 042616 revised.plan
  16. As Michael said your elevation dimension lines are off. Your second floor is also off exactly 3/8" from the default for the floor. your default shows 97 1/8" and your rooms are showing 96 3/4". Not sure how you guys in B.C. mark your elevations but we usually show the head height here. You could use the auto story pole dimensions and do all that. I am wondering how you are going to get any lintels above those windows if you have them at 96" to top. especially the 11' mulled unit.
  17. Nice work Bill. great way to take advantage of the tools at hand.
  18. Anything is possible. I would do like others suggested for viewing trailer plans for floorplan ideas. would also look at container house plans as most of those would be 8' wide by 20 or 40' long. http://www.blogto.com/city/2015/08/8_foot_wide_toronto_home_for_sale_for_750k/
  19. Try sending to layout using plot lines instead of live.
  20. Scott, when you click the All Programs Show button that you see in Rich's post, you will see all of the paths Chief uses.
  21. Only works when you originally build the roof not rebuilds. No idea why that is though. You may have to redraw the roofs or just do a detail of it and skip it.
  22. Alan, in roof dbx just check vertical
  23. Nice work Rob! Where did you get the handle/towelbar symbol on the middle pic?
