  1. Version 10 or X10 (Ver.20) ..... And these days there is no Upgrade Path, if you were aware Chief went Subscription only in Jan. 2023 , see below https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/37322-chief-architect-software-licensing-changes-beginning-january-10-2023/ M.
  2. Take a few screengrabs , so people have a better idea of what you mean , as it doesn't sound like anything I've experienced.... you'll be here a lot so I'd advise you to add your Forum Signature as most people have ( see below) so we know what Version you are using and perhaps your Hardware as well. Mick. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/18908-signature-here-at-chief-talk/?tab=comments#comment-155662
  3. Time to finally upgrade your computer Alan you need PBR - RTRT .... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/41674-patio-louvre-roof/?do=findComment&comment=309757 Mick.
  4. sounds like I misunderstood what you wanted as well ? I want to show the framing members only without wall, floor, and ceiling
  5. You'd need to make it yourself, nothing in chief's Catalogues...... there are a number of ways in Chief , like Rene's suggestions above, you can also use 3D Solids and multi-copy .... this one was done that way....
  6. A framing View should work , but it will depend on what you else you need to show.... A wall type with no drywall or covering should show the framing as well ( turn on Framing, Wall in view). M.
  7. Only one Palm in 3D , in the Bonus 3D Tropical > Trees Library ---- a sabal palmetto ( also in 2D in the main plant library ) ..... Xfrog has always had good vegetation but prices seem up these days......... https://www.xfrog.com/ M.
  8. hopefully that's it and it not a GPU Issue like overheating or failing..... Glen you'll need to let him know how to do that on a Mac as I can't see a tutorial like below for the Mac OS. For Windows Users : https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03140/forcing-chief-architect-programs-to-use-a-specific-graphics-card-in-windows-10-11.html Mick.
  9. Chief Plans are in the File Format [PlanName].plan not dwg which you must have exported? the 200 error is likely because the Plan is still open in Chief and the File is "locked" automatically when open..... so save the plan, close Chief and try again. M.
  10. I would suggest moving Chief out of Documents and thus out of OneDrive's automatic Backup of Documents "reach" and another way to go..... OD is a curse in Windows 11, I've had numerous issues with it since switch from Win 10, Chief really should not be using that Folder by default any longer , IMHO https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03132/resolving-unexpected-behavior-on-a-windows-pc-by-redirecting-the-data-folder.html I've also had several Client's on Mac's having Issues too with either iCloud and also Dropbox , which is enabled by default on some versions of MAC Os. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03116/resolving-unexpected-behavior-on-a-mac-by-redirecting-the-data-folder.html M.
  11. I think it can do 3D DWGs and some Sketchup "Shapes" but AFAIK Chief only exports 2D DWGs..... but don't quote me on that M.
  12. I think that is the room base showing not a ledger , try removing the moldings from the Room. M.
  13. I use CTRL on a PC and I tink it the same on a Mac , so perhaps you need to check your HotKey List and make sure it is still assigned. M
  14. Chief is slow if you work in PBR, even with my new 4080 Super Desktop GPU, your 4060 Laptop GPU is significant slower, so try working in Standard View , with Lines on ( my preferred method these days) and when you have a Camera View you Like in Standard view "duplicate" it via the Project Browser and switch it to PBR and change the settings as necessary. There are Issues with certain Nvidia Drivers including the latest Studio Driver so personally I am back on the Game Ready Driver Ver. 551.52 on the 4080S, before that on my 3080ti I was on the Drivers in my Sig. Mick.
  15. I do it this way as well, using a foundation wall usually, same as I'd step a FDN Wall, I find it easier to control than a "Retaining Wall". https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01809/creating-a-stepped-foundation.html Mick
  16. Forgot to add earlier to try turning OFF Refraction in the PBR Camera Settings and see if it helps with Glass, sometime you want it sometime not I find, and PBR-RT is quick enough now to try it and see both ways ......also make sure that the Denoise Option is enabled , it was a game changer in x15 , and word is things look nicer in X16 if a TAD slower in PBR-RT. Mick.
  17. Undoubtably yes, PBR-RT is the way to go nowadays, especially since I see you have a RTX 3070 now, especially since Materials that look good in CPU Raytrace don't in PBR-RT so it best to stick with PBR-RT for that reason and of course the HUGE speed difference. Mick.
  18. Yes, they all move I have the Project Browser on Mon.3 and the ADLO on Mon. 3 on the other side... ( 3 identical monitors is the way to go for sure ) DB is right , once the Roof plane is selected on the 2nd floor Check the Edit toolbar for the display on floor below Icon ( it doesn't move the roof plane , it just shows one floor lower or higher)
  19. Ahhh , i wondered if it was just a layer display issue , I would suggest you work with the ALDO (Active Layer Display Options) OPEN , i keep it on one of my other monitors to turn LAYERS on and off quickly, change line colors, text sizes or Lock them so they are not selectable. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03122/displaying-the-active-layer-set-control-on-the-toolbar-or-in-the-aldo.html I think I see Roof Planes on your Garage ? so house is two story ? or no roof on the house yet? you can make the Roof planes show on the floor above or below if they are on the upper floor ? with the quick icon on the edit toolbar when the RP is selected. M.
  20. Nothing wrong with that method to learn Chief, and one I recommend to new Users all the time as it easy to get more info and figure out why something might not be "working in chief as it should" Are you aware of the Tutorial Guide link right in the Help Menu? This is a PDF that Chief, I think originally offered to academic institutions like high schools and colleges as a step by step, as if your not sure of something Hit F1 on your keyboard and the context sensitive help should pop up. I'm not sure what the difference in the views are you are seeing ( or not) are? M.
  21. Chief has a very good KnowledgeBase (KB) full of short FAQs and Tutorials , including on SVP's.... ( PDF can be downloaded on right under green button ) https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03185/understanding-saved-plan-views.html as well as Videos of course https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/#playlist-100 Mick.
  22. You've Started the Project ( or have it set as your Default Plan Template ) using the Kitchen and Bath Template , instead of the Residential Template , but if you are too far in , you can import the other Saved Plan Views from the Residental Template as mentioned by Rob above. M.
  23. Everything is in 1st post of this thread......... @CADustin M.
