  1. In X15 , in the Project Browser, simple Right Click the closest SPV to what you'd like, and choose Duplicate.... You may , depending on how you use Chief, also need to make a dedicated Default Set, Layerset etc ( see pic 2) as well, so that the duplicated Settings and Layers are different, and thus not overwrite the Layers etc from the duplicated SPV. Give the new Default set a corresponding name to the new SPV LAST (3) .
  2. Probably how I'd do it, to make one of the Fiber Optics Light Panels ..... so you have the "suggestion" without the need to deal with Light Data and shadows etc. M.
  3. Haven't opened the plan Gene , but it appears to me your Roof planes are destroying the Cheek walls. If the cheek walls do not goto the floor inside ? Try this... in the wall's Roof Tab , set Roof Cuts wall at bottom - and Chief will adjust the roof hole for you. If the Cheek walls do goto the floor you will need to alter the Roof Planes (RP) manually - pull them back a Foot all the way around, let them rebuild, then grab an edge and slowly approach the wall, the RP will "sense" the wall before to actually get there, watch carefully and you should see the RP "reach out" for the wall at about 3"-6", Take you finger OFF the button now and just let Chief auto snap the RP to the wall for you. Mick.
  4. Also one of the Few Places I use Rich Text still so I can use various Text elements Like Bold, underline, Upper Case, Lower case etc all in one Text block, it just more convenient in this case but there are only usually a few occurences so Copy paste if needed is still quick enough. M.
  5. This is the Method I also use nowadays too, Text ....and Text styles can do almost everything Rich Text can do, it does take a bit of work to make the text styles but those you can build over time as needed in your Templates. Mick.
  6. To be honest I was surprised there were no other answers too, but the whys and why nots are not covered well in the help file as far as I know, I checked the KB and there is nothing there either. M.
  7. Perhaps because by default Deck Rooms don't have Ceilings ( or Roofs) ......so no material displayed? M.
  8. Bit of a big topic Ron, with lots of opinions I am sure, but for me I don't use Rich Text except in specifics cases nowadays, as Normal Text with Text Styles is much more configurable on the fly, just using the Layer the Text is on, change it there from 6" high to 4.5 " and it ALL changes throughout the Plan. M.
  9. If it continues I would suggest you move your Chief Data Folder out of the Cloud, Dropbox and OneDrive can have side effects due to the constant live updating/backing up of Files. These days I have switched to Google Drive for collaborating with Clients. I moved my Chief Data folder in Windows 11 as Documents is automatically backed up by OneDrive, in Win11 OneDrive is insidious and seems to have taken over my computer it feels like.....especially if you also use Office 365 , it seems these days you aren't allowed to use the computer as you wish and M$ has had to dumbed things down to the lowest common denominator. things to consider.... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03155/sharing-projects-in-a-work-environment-that-is-utilizing-cloud-network-services.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03090/moving-library-content-to-the-cloud-or-other-custom-location.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00911/message-cannot-find-or-open-the-file-to-save-your-plan.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03132/resolving-unexpected-behavior-on-a-windows-pc-by-redirecting-the-data-folder.html
  10. Personally, no but I have not moved full production to X16 myself yet, I was waiting for the next update at least. M.
  11. Try a little Forum searching perhaps, as I seem to remember Michael (Alaskan_Son) doing a library or symbol or something for these a couple of years ago maybe? M.
  12. Chief has several KB articles that may help with Cloud Services , personally I moved my Chief Data Folder out of the Cloud due to slowness and other issue even with a 1GB ISP package. The other issue maybe your "Partner" has the file open on his end too? M
  13. Are you on your "normal" computer? it appears Chief can't find the Library , your pic doesn't show anything in the Library , but that might just be the way you have the Panes setup? It could also be a file permissions issue and chief can't write to the File? M.
  14. That's the Answer right there..... Click on the grass , which should let you open the Spec. DBX for the Terrain Perimeter, and uncheck Automatic height and adjust the height as needed.... * Note the Text here, Chief wants the Subfloor Height ABOVE the Terrain M.
  15. Older post of mine, but should still work the same way.....using Paint , instead of Substance Player
  16. Forum Message sent..... see your in box please. Mick.
  17. Check and see if Ver.9 will work with the older Legacy plans , I think there is a V10 Viewer Too, but I know the V8 one can convert the legacy plans, and thought it was the only version that could, hence it still being offered. X6 wasn't a bad version ...... M.
  18. I'd suggest calling Sales directly and asking, but Chief has a Free Viewer you can request , (Version 8) which can resave the older Plan and make them compatible with the Newer Versions, you'd also need to, in the Defaults, under Plan, check the box that says Editing in Home Designer is Allowable. ( or some such) Okay found the KB Article on Legacy Plans, about 1/2 way down there is a green link to request the Free V8 Viewer so you can try it and see if it works on your Plans ( save a backup copy of original 1st.) https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00279/opening-legacy-files.html M
  19. Chief has gone to the Subscription Model and no longer allows Users to transfer Ownership unfortunately , Home Designer Pro at $595 , is pretty capable for a Prosumer version of Chief though. ( it can also be rented ) . M.
  20. It's always suggested here to post the plan if you can to get better help, otherwise it is a bit of a guessing game, not sure what version you are on either but perhaps you need to update your Forum Sig. too, as personally I don't have X12 or X14 installed any longer. M.
  21. I agree, as long as there is no overlap the 2nd wall should not remove the existing wall, it should just butt up against the existing wall, however I think Jon is also correct in thatI am not sure you need that 2nd wall ? Personally, if the budget is there, I'd remove the gable roof over the brown ADU and extend the Roof from the Blue Building on the Right, over it as well, making it all look more unified. M.
  22. How much Videocard Ram is there? 4GB is the minimum I think.... If you can't upload the Plan Here Start a Tech Support case through your digital locker, they can accept larger files. M.
  23. sounds like a good Start if Wall framing is not on Auto. M. Previous post for others.... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/42855-furring-applied-one-side-of-interior-4-walls-on-build-framing/?tab=comments#comment-315457
  24. Happy to help don't forget your Sig, then you wont need to post your info with every question eg put this in your Sig. with the version you are using otherwise people will assume your are using the latest eg X16 currently. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/18908-signature-here-at-chief-talk/?tab=comments#comment-155662 Windows 10 Home Ver. 10.0.19045 Build 19045 GEOForce RTX 3080 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11700K @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz 32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable) 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
