  1. funnily enough I have the same problem ...... keep forgetting it's there to use.... M.
  2. Not sure how well it works in Chief ( not tried it for this purpose ) but are you using the Enhanced Windows Clipboard? Settings > System > Clipboard to enable then WinKey+V to Use.... Mick.
  3. Are you aware that Chief has a "Samples Gallery" where you can download Projects including the PDFs..... you would need the Trial Version to Open the plans though. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/samples.html M.
  4. Turning off Auto Attic Walls ( Alt-Q) , deleting the small triangular attic wall and then *ballooning the Framing is my goto in these situations.... ( do this on both ends of building - you can even go to the attic level 1st and delete the Attic walls as CA does't always clean them out as it should on its own leaving extra visible lines etc) *cos really what framer is gonna listen to the Arch./Designer about how to frame something anyway ** Looks like you must be using a really old Template plan ( or it started in HDP? ) as you don't have any saved Plan Views..... M. Oh and George , looks like you are on X13, so hopefully you are aware of Chief going Subscription on Jan. 9th, 2023? best to upgrade and get SSA before then....
  5. I agree I think Chief won't have an issue with European modern/minimalist design especially once you have Templates setup with Euro. Wall types etc. However you will/should make a decision fast as Chief is going subscription on Jan.9th 2023 .............. they do have the annual 10% off sale on now though. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/37322-chief-architect-software-licensing-changes-beginning-january-10-2023/ https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/37539-software-sale-save-10/?tab=comments#comment-284616 Mick.
  6. I"m guessing the Arrow isn't connected then? as you shouldn't see the macro , just it's output. As Michael mentioned %object_properties% is what you'll see in x14 chief Templates, ( where I copied it from ) though Joe Carrick has his floating around on the Forum too. M,
  7. If you put %object_properties% into the text box ( it will be huge - zoom out ) you will see all the available Macros for the Wall. Even then you may need one of the macro guru's to do you a custom one.... Mick.
  8. This would be a good/better option if you have to do a Whole House of doors.....rather than a Single Door or Feature Wall.... M.
  9. Gene is right unfortunately , your Boss needs to act before Jan. 9th if he want's the lower cost Perpetual Licenses, even if the Videocard has to wait.... Like your Boss ( and Brother? ) did originally you will likely need to build a Library of Details , you can even import your current ones (DWG/DXF) but there is no way to enter a few Parameters into a DBX ( Dialog Box ) and it will send it all to Layout for you, however you could build a Layout Template with "Typical (scaled) Details" in it, so that work does not need repeating every Project. Lots to read up on about Layouts and Templates is my guess and creating CAD Details as well ..... These all have a PDF to download as well... Start a Library ! https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00737/creating-and-using-layout-templates.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-02862/resizing-a-layout-title-block-and-border.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03018/setting-up-layout-template-pages.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00766/creating-cad-details.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00500/customizing-a-cad-block-or-detail.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00002/adding-a-cad-object-cad-detail-or-text-to-the-library.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00283/troubleshooting-dwg-dxf-file-import-issues.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00199/modifying-the-scale-of-an-imported-dwg-dxf.html One other Tip would be to get used to using the Project Browser , I keep it open on a 2nd monitor with the Active Display options.... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03003/using-the-project-browser.html Mick.
  10. Then Try Ballooning the Walls Up in their Structure Tabs. * you do have Auto Attic Walls Enabled right? > Press Alt-Q (general Wall Defaults shortcut) and see if it checked. Mick.
  11. Oh I completely agree , and this sample plans shows the Issue nicely , so I was hoping you had sent it in...thanks. M.
  12. That would be a quicker fix if it does the "Cleanup" for you..... nice. M.
  13. Sounds like you need to send it in as a bug if it only works 100% IF the Framing is exactly the same in both planes as , at least for me that is pretty unusual , Gables always seem to be one size larger that Eave details ie 2x8 vs 2x6. this should be a nice little example plan for them. M.
  14. There is a known issue with multi-monitor setups IF the computer uses Nahimic's 3D Sound, as it thinks Chief is a 3D game and tries to enable the 3D sound and of course Chief doesn't have sound, which can cause crashes, I had this issue myself but I have not seen it reported recently. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/28384-multi-monitor-issue-fix-for-computers-with-nahimic-audio/?tab=comments#comment-226782 and https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/31335-known-incompatibilities-with chief-architect-software/?tab=comments#comment-260441 M.
  15. Might be cos you have a bad gray knife blank ....there is a small "flap" sticking up on the Tip of the Knife and chief can't handle it. Yes , it seems fine once I sent the Knife outline to a Cad Detail cleaned it up and turned it back into a Solid back in Plan Knife Plan File : MHD_Knife.plan Mick.
  16. you are talking about Auto dims in Elevations correct? and not talking about Plan View Rooms Dims.... or ? You might need to post the plan or at least a sample plan showing the Issue . ( must be under 14mb to post AND not open in chief when you attach it.) Mick.
  17. Supposed to yes, but I find not always for some reason had to do it this week myself. * I guess I meant Materials , not structure
  18. that's what the friendly Chief Forum is for , especially since all the "Tricks of the Trade" aren't in the Docs. Not at all ? or just not what you are expecting to see ? take some screenshots ( use the Snipping Tool ) and post them directly here into a post...... Mick.
  19. or changing the Landing Floor structure materials to match the Decks should work too. M.
  20. If you don't need the GPU raytracing that is an Option, but should not be necessary looking at your system specs, This issue has been happening with certain Nvidia Drivers since X13 though. so far , since back on Nvidia Driver 526.86 it has been fine M.
  21. It does take a bit of figuring as chief doesn't make it easy , so a lot needs to be worked out with CAD Lines and a CAD arc for the Radius, however for the middle window you need to ignore the known Radius at 1st it seems and only input the RISE of the arch ( CAD lines help here ) and the dialog box will auto work out the radius for you when you hit tab. *after inputting the Rise into the DBX I found it would then let me input the Radius properly IF you get the rise close to whatit thinks the Radius should be. ( 3rd Pic.) 1. Chief's arch measurement are to the window itself , so ignore the casings in all cases. 2. for others the Double arch is the only Arch where you can enter a known Radius. You also add the Arch after mulling the "Lited" windows together , though Chief doesn't do a 100% great job of lites in Arched windows.
  22. It makes me wonder if in fact the Dialog box is not essentially just a "Search Engine" the sifts through Dozens of previously drawn and saved "Details" to find and swap out Details as needed. M.
  23. Yeah , those situations have always been an issue , and I admittedly haven't done much digging previously but if you turn off all layers and only turn the Roof Overhang lines on you can see Chief isn't generating the Shape correctly ? ( or maybe just highlights the Issue?) ie the 2 errant "Points" are part of the wrong "Plane", so like Roof Planes we would need the ability to alter those auto generated Roof Overhang lines I think. ( or they need to re-programme it? ) You can actually see it in 3D too if you turn on the Roof Overhang Area in 3D and select a Roof Plane.
  24. Chief doesn't care if it is running on a Mac or a PC and can Open files made on either OS in the Other , you just can't open New files in Older Versions eg X12 won't open X14 Plans. It sounds like you may have Home Designer Pro though? not Chief so it is probably better to ask other Users of HDP (Pro) over on HomeTalk ( this is ChiefTalk ) which is here : ( same logon etc. ) https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/ M.
  25. No problem and thanks for the Tip on using Google search on Images, I had forgotten that was an Option , might be handy for when I'm sent an Inspo Image and the Client has no clue where they got it M.
