  1. In Standard View while "Working" I turn on Lines too, all set as low as possible ie to 1 or 0, so I can see how things interact with each other better , later you can turn it off for Client meetings. You won't get the light to work in both STD and PBR as the Lumen level are drastically different....... eg 100 lumen in PBR might look good but in STD you may need 5000 lumens, as I did above, or even higher. * it doesn't look like you have turned Ambient Occlusion down to 20-30% ...see the dark corners.... M.
  2. For sure , I have posted on here a few times I wish Chief had just used the Unreal 4/5 Engine..... M.
  3. Maureen or Joey probably have it , but for things like you Stamp , you can also Open the PDF Box's DBX and check the Box "Save in Plan" ( do this in your Templates too ) so if you are on a new computer or the "network" is down or something those don't disappear. M.
  4. Yes Landings or Solids will work if you're not familiar with Molding Lines and making the moldings. M.
  5. I don't think so but if you are using the Wall Hatching tool? you can open the Hatch ( Tab In after selecting wall ) and switch it from say Hatch angle 2 to Hatch angle
  6. Thanks again for sharing Steve ...appreciate it. M.
  7. thanks for the link Eric...appreciate it , as you say good textures are hard to find.... M.
  8. Bingo ....... I picked up TM several years ago when Epic made it Free but at around the same time I also looked at D5 Render ( unfortunately Chief declined working with them to make a plugin) and Chief started with the new PBR RTRT Engine and I had high hopes for it and being able to keep the workflow " all in chief " unfortunately that has not come to fruition yet. M.
  9. Did you switch the Light Data Type to Spot Light? with it left at 0° you will tend to get "hot spots" at the corners as the lights point along the Rope Light not up at the ceiling. You can also then adjust the Cut-off and Drop-off rate settings.
  10. Fairly easy I think?....... TM is (was???) free for many and Lumion is $3000 the last time I looked.... https://www.twinmotion.com/en-US/license * TM is still free for non-commercial use it appears M.
  11. Sounds great , thanks. Once you have the B&B perfected you can export the Chief.calib file from the Library directly too , so it installs with everything setup "just so" M.
  12. They should show .......but the Lighting in STD vs PBR is totally different , and normally you would need to choose which View Type you want and make adjustments for it , which may require (2) Plan Files , one for each View type. You can take a back clipped Cross Section and make sure the Rope Light is not buried in the wall or Trim (crown) , you can also play with the Light Data and point the Lights on the Rope UP (spot light >Tilt Angle 90°). ( turn off the Blue Arrows once you have it pointing the right direction or you will see them in 3D too) If you turn down Ambient Occlusion to 20-30% you won't get the dark shadows in the corners either (also something I set in my Template. Plan) I usually don't use Bloom either as to me it "softens" the look and 1 last tip , to also set in your Template plan, is to set the Standard Camera Ambient light levels to 58% each ( play with it a bit but I find 58-62% works well for most indoor scenes , CA's default 31% is far too low.) You can also depending on the look you want Turn OFF the option for the Lights to Cast Shadows and add a single Light to a Room if you don't have some already to stop Chief from adding the the automatic Light to each Room that doesn't have one.
  13. Thanks again Steve especially for the Excel Spreadsheet, thanks for including Pixplant in it too , I've downloaded all the above which is great ! PS...let me know what I should remove above......as I am now behind your posts.... and don't want to confuse others M.
  14. If you have left the number of Lights allowed to be a maximum of 20 , (default) you may lose some as the rope light it has a light every 3" (75mm) so you soon go through 20 "lights". try setting it to 200-300 instead ..... Put this in your plan templates under camera defaults so you don't need to do it for every camera in the future too.
  15. Thanks for posting further about your Journey with TM 2023 (?) , I'm still playing catchup though and haven't gotten to your videos yet. So you updated your Background Files ? just wondering if the links above all lead to the same File? I looked at Materialize last year but never played much with it as I also have been using PixPlant Freelancer (now version 5), for a few years ( since V.3) The freelancer version is the full version they just charge $39 for it is you are a single User / One man band operation for it. the is also a free Trial version if you want to try it as it can make seamless textures and all the Maps ( AO,Normal,Roughness,Metal, dispalcement etc.) easier if you don't have other software. https://www.pixplant.com/ or https://www.pixplant.com/purchase.php M.
  16. No need to worry there you can download the Mac or Windows version right in your digital locker, the software is OS agnostic and almost identical in use. This was posted Thurs. about the Macs.... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/36468-best-laptop-for-chief-architect-x14-for-2022/?do=findComment&comment=285040 M.
  17. C'mon , are you telling me after all this time here you didn't know you had to learn Chief's names for everything ? M.
  18. Just be aware that will change it through-out the Plan for any layer / object using the Default Label Style.... M.
  19. It shouldn't be an Issue as far as I know , but one thing I have found especially with Exteriors, is it's best NOT to use the AUTOMATIC (Default) Light Set. Make your Own Light Set and Only have On the Lighting needed , as you may have also exceeded your Number of lights Limit if ALL the interior Lights are still on too. ( 20 by Default Limit , I set 200-300 in my Template ) M.
  20. This seems to have become more of an issue in X14 vs previously , even in plan view, but Chris's solution should work , if matching the stair and landing railings doesn't help ( you may have already checked/tried that ) M.
  21. I think that Suggestion has been made , but currently I don't think it's doable ? M.
  22. I guess that explains the Price increase come Jan. 9th, - they need a couple more good MAC developers , though things aren't all good on the PC side either when it comes to RTRT Crashes either.... One advantage of upgrading renewing your SSA NOW, is that you will beat the Jan.9th change to the new Subscription model, which effectively triples the annual cost of SSA , and you'll be grandfathered in at the current cost.
  23. Call Chief tomorrow and confirm but the MAC version of X13 did not Support GPU Raytracing AFAIR , however I think X14 now natively supports the MAC OS on M1 Macs, but I am not a Mac Person hence please call Support tomorrow and confirm, as I am not sure if native MAC M1 support includes GPU Ray tracing. Ryan may know he's a MAC User , let me tag him....... @rgardner new in X14 PDF.............x14-new-features.pdf Support Phone Numbers Chief Architect Support: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Pacific United States 208-292-3399 Australia 02-8006-6851 United Kingdom 020-3286-5716 Sales / Customer Service:7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Pacific Phone 208-292-3400
  24. The reason I mentioned sending it in is that I don't think this should happen and probably a Developer should look into why.... They can't fix weird anomalies like this if they don't get shown examples.... M.
