The video linked above is old ,it was done in X1, not sure if it's the same one on YT?

Although it didn't happen with the Beta that I remember , it have been happening since we (I?) got the Full version , I am wondering if it's just me and I need to do a reinstall ? as yesterday while placing plants and trees etc X7 crashed 6 times . - In 2 cases the plan was locked on reopening X7 and I had to use the latest archive - In 2 cases the plan was Ok on reopening X7 and I was asked if I wanted to use and Auto saved newer file (Yes) - and in the other 2 cases the plan reopened in X7 where it had left off ,more or less. All 6 crashes were with the SEH Error message , so I hit send Report , then ok which causes X7 to immediately close. I had two last week as well which I thought was just perhaps I needed a reboot etc , but I am not getting them unless I am doing something in the library , at least so far, sometimes it is placing stuff , other times trying to save to the library. Thanks Curt , funny how something as simple as US and International Spelling of a word or even the addition of a "s" effects the results of the search.... Int. US US w/ S ie : moulding vs molding vs moldings 2 14 26 results.... think this is the one no#397 http://video.chiefarchitect.com/player/player.php?id=890&th=1&autoplay=

@Dennis , could you link that Vid. please, I'm only finding one on Cabinet moldings, but maybe wrong search term? Thx

Manual Foundation Not displaying in Elevation view
Kbird1 replied to mrscott's topic in General Q & A
Ahhhh MrScott you forgot to put the plan in your Zip file lots of lovely textures though -
@ Yusef , thanks I have downloaded the plan to look at , hopefully I don't need you to add a "How To" in the Tips Forum . M.

this is common in other parts of the world too , like in Australia and New Zealand , Europe etc.... The Purlin is there to attach the Roof Cladding , not as a structural support. @Yusef please post your test plan thanks , I'd like to see your method.

for sure , or you might as well spend your evenings working at Home Depot instead.....

just download the plan I revised for you above and carry on from there , doesn't look like you downloaded it yet ?

Hi Victor , just wondering how things are going with your Surface 3 , is CAx7 running ok? I finally have mine set but am wondering if a older (lessor) version of CA may run better , since the S3 doesn't have the i3 etc CPU. I am gonna say I am glad Win10 is coming next month , I do not like Win 8.1 and the Apps and built in Ads , but I guess the Ads are how I M$ is gonna make us pay for Win10 ....I'd rather pay $100 and have no Ads myself. Thanks, M.

I think there are a few people here using it but you may get more answers over on Room Planner"s forum https://roomtalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/forum/3-q-a/

Usually you get the grey centering line but it also shows the Room , wall, whatever it is centering on selected as well , I have my selection colour set to Pink,40% Trans. ( a Dan Bauman Tip) which makes it easy to see what the selection is...

I don't believe so Kevin , they are talking about Chief Architect , you have HD Pro which is made my Chief Architect , but with HD Pro you need to start the plan in Metric or Imperial mode, there is no "fix" like in Chief. there is a Forum just for HD Software over here: https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/

Not an Architect either but sounds way too low to me , $800 for 3000 sqft home? or am I missing something? and yes I think you should be paid each time your design is Used if your Design Work. (if used more than once put that in your Contract.) Check out the Seeking services Forum here I think there was a post or two on Hourly Rates etc too. M

I am actually surprised there is no automated way to do this , I 'd think fairly easy to implement since as you say Bill a modified Lookout would do the job , fair bit of work to do them all manually every 900mm or so.

If the OP is from Downunder ? , Purlins (roof battens) are on top of the Rafters/trusses to fix the LongRun Metal Roofing too , so I think the OP may need to clarify. eg http://www.renovate.org.nz/1970s/roofs/roof-form-and-framing-original-details/

I haven't seen that issue myself , but assume you haven't turn off 3D backgrounds or Images off ? There is also a specific Home Designer Forum over here too https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/forum/5-qa/

How to do flat pad on terrain with elevation lines crossing this
Kbird1 replied to Homesteadconc_NZ's topic in General Q & A
Some KB Articles I found excellent in the past , especially the 1st two, to help understand what CA is doing..... http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00715/150/Chief-Architect/Terrain/Smoothing-Terrain-Contours-and-Controlling-it-Precisely.html# http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00574/150/Chief-Architect/Terrain/How-Chief-Architect-Interprets-Terrain-Lines.html http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00938/150/Chief-Architect/Terrain/How-the-Height-of-Floors-Relate-to-the-Height-of-the-Terrain.html Retaining Walls http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00646/150/Chief-Architect/Terrain/Placing-a-Retaining-Wall-in-the-Terrain.html http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00697/150/Chief-Architect/Terrain/Creating-a-Stepped-Retaining-Wall.html -
How to do flat pad on terrain with elevation lines crossing this
Kbird1 replied to Homesteadconc_NZ's topic in General Q & A
@Glen ...I didn't mean it was a cure for anything in this particular case, been a while since I played with Terrains but like in Larry's Vid. above, the EL Lines don't go thru the structure, and I have seen Grass in the Basement before without this setting On. Perhaps I am seeing the Difference between EL Lines and EL Region Auto Lines? M. -

Do you have the "Hide Terrain Intersected by Building" on ? ,it hard to tell from your pics but it looks like the lines run thru the house? Best to post the Plan if possible , if you want some help on complicated stuff BTW.... M. -
Home Designer Pro 2016 import file to Chief Architect
Kbird1 replied to MichaelBlake's topic in General Q & A
There's a KB Article for that , not that Lew ain't right http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00516/5/Chief-Architect/File-Management/Sharing-a-Plan-File-With-a-Home-Designer-User.html -
You didn't extend the Overhangs on the Rear of the building as I mentioned Ann, to 2 1/2" , if you don't the Roof plane cuts into the wall as Roofs ALWAYS control Walls , not the other way around. You should also set your Exterior Casings to 1 1/2" so they aren't buried in the Stucco on the Windows and Doors. I left the roofs at 2" earlier as that was what you had it set at but below I reset them to 1" in 12 Normally in a situation like this you would build the 1st level , the "L" as one building , then you would add a 2nd floor , over just the Garage at 45" high and set the Room "Open to below" , then you can remove the wall on level one between the garage and garden rooms and add the Beam that will be needed there.... (you will see those changes in my plan below.) I think Rich is used x7 , so you won't be able to open his plan so I used X6 so you should be able to download my Plan below and and look at it . garage1a_x6_R1.plan
