right now I'd take it , I think we have inherited California's Heatwave / drought.... 10 pm and it's still 32deg. up in the living room...

That roof will give the framer a headache for sure it just looked like the auto roof plane was actually going thru the point on the entry side of the wall instead of the roof side of that wall ,CA is confused ( again ) by there being two exterior walls at that point so it is cutting off the end of that wall at a 45° which may be why one side of the wall is missing. 1. you haven't set the second floor room to open below ,which causes the issue on the inside and 2. your have two different wall types sitting on top of each other at post height by the looks, causing the exterior issue.. M.

yep funky corner , you will need to fix the roof there too , but that wall is Interior 4" and it is coming up thru the roof , the other one is similar , try the "if butting roof " setting after switching wall to siding 4 .

I think this is the 1st update that didn't kill my pinned icon or recent list there , so that's a plus too .... M.

Hi Joey , it's not perfect but a lot better than it was, good brain exercise for sure, who needs Luminosity... I have CT The garage foundation was 3 feet down the drive from the wall , hence the roof on the driveway , and I had to reset your room heights to make it work , so don't know that it is as it should be ..... and I think you built the whole 2nd storey ,even over the garage auto right? I broke those walls to let the roof built off the 1st floor wall plates too. I'm also thinking a rubber ducky in the Pool maybe more appropriate Lumsden Original_R1_Fix.plan

Hi, @ 1st Mountaineer ,apologies for mixing your thread up with Shane's issue as well , thankfully Curt has helped with your issue . @ Yusef , no ,that's right , CA has no issue doing Trusses fully width including the Porch and that is like how many new homes would be built but in a renovation situation or were it is just cheaper to buy standard 10/12 trusses "off the rack" , you may want to hand frame the porch roof with 2x10 rafters or similar. ( you should get x7 trial version? perhaps) However Chief will replace (delete) any rafter/ceiling joist that is too close to a truss ,which is an issue for a total Auto Build roof, but Trusses are not auto build anyway so it is not too much extra work to make Chief do what you need , in either Shane's Roof configuration ( few CAD lines to work out the "in from baseline height and for editing the 1st truss shape , or the Way Chief builds a double pitch roof with the truss bearing on the wall. After having a play tonight , there are a couple of anomalies , like the end truss building out to the porch beam unlike the other trusses, which stop on the wall , if the wall is set with a 1 1/2" overhang, so they need editing too. The porch get the end ceiling joists but not the rest , an easy fix and the same with Rafters depending on how y you do it it seems. (need to play more?) But here are a few pics of what I found..... if you need the plans let me know....

rafters / trusses spanning length not width of roof
Kbird1 replied to bernie's topic in General Q & A
Manually Drawn trusses give you raked portal/ truss frames when I tried it , and roof beams or Lookouts done manually should do the rest I think? Perhaps ask Graeme nicely to "share" his plan for tips -
rafters / trusses spanning length not width of roof
Kbird1 replied to bernie's topic in General Q & A
You can see from the raked wall framing the rafters run parallel/up the slope not across as I thought the OP wanted? -
Joe means empty the Trash folder at the very bottom of the library window....

can't you lock every layer except Cad,Default ( or whatever you use) and maybe text too if you want to change notes? so you can't select them. M.

is it designed for Phones Joey ? or just android Tablets ? I'm surprised to see it's $12.48 too , isn't iOS free?

rafters / trusses spanning length not width of roof
Kbird1 replied to bernie's topic in General Q & A
interesting Scott , 1st time I have ever seen that tip , I assume the 3568' is just an arbitrary way larger number ( than building width) that's easy to type on keyboard ? *** I think you missed the slope vs rafter run predicament here too Shane... he wants to use parallel chord metal trusses running across the building , sitting on raked walls I would assume ... -
without playing with it , I think you will have an issue as trusses automatically delete hand framing if placed in the same location , some playing around with a framing reference and spacings might help with that ? M.

Square front (not 45 deg. angle) corner base cabinets
Kbird1 replied to Rickkarle's topic in General Q & A
I think this is throwback to the 80's isn't it? does anyone actually do 45° corner cabinets anymore? , not sure why it is the default for corner cabinets in CA still? -
rafters / trusses spanning length not width of roof
Kbird1 replied to bernie's topic in General Q & A
I think rafters are hard wired aren't they ? (low to high point ) so I don't think the joist tool or the framing ref. tool work , but Trusses are drawn manually and don't care as long as there is a roof plane and a ceiling plane for them to build between , not sure if there is a minimum depth though on a flat roof ?. It might require a 0" height 2nd floor and the use of floor trusses instead perhaps? M. -
Would depend on version of CA but probably best to talk to them 1st. http://www.chiefarchitect.com/company/contact.html

Lenovo y470, switchable graphic Intel and AMD Radeon HD 7690, SEH error
Kbird1 replied to SonNguyen's topic in General Q & A
Did you try the 1800no#s for support? Or the Skype Channel? http://www.chiefarchitect.com/company/contact.html -
Ok, now I see , all you have to do is adjust the in from baseline distance until the rafter falls on the top plate , though CA may not frame it that way.? M.

I couldn't find your manual online anymore Joe , just a short specs list , but it looks like it ,but best you check your Docs. There is Full size display port (DP) too , which is why this one is called a mini-DP.... my monitors have DP so to hook my Surface 3 I use a mini DP to DP convertor cable or to TV I can use mini-DP to HDMI converter but you have HDMI on board on that one , so don't need that. http://www.ncix.com/detail/startech-10ft-mini-displayport-to-81-58691.htm or http://www.ncix.com/detail/startech-3-in-1-mini-displayport-to-6c-108398.htm M.

Draw a sketch of what you mean and post it, the porch roof must have pitch , even if it starts at the same height at the wall as the ceiling joists. or I misunderstand what you are wanting...
-
the porch wall would need to be lower than the house wall due to the roof pitch

I think you have hdmi and mini display port on that laptop Joey , so you should be able to run two monitors with the right adaptors/cables/inputs on the TV
