It happens quite often in Plans brought Forward .......the Fix is usually to Group Select all text , open the DBX, make no changes and close it again , so it fixes itself.

a quick guess would be you are drawing them on level 1 not level 0 so it thinks it is a Ceiling joist for level 1 , ie any framing below 0" is displayed on the Foundation level so you need to do the Blocking there too At least that is the one that gets me with the way Chief Works

Your signature isn't accurate , it that the hardware you are still on? I shot the view above and like Graham it was about 6 secs...but my hardware is a generation ahead of yours as I think is Grahams', I went from a 970 to a 1070ti earlier this year after noticing slow down due to the new RCS Shadows in X10 ( I believe) but it was not a WOW what an improvement or noticeable speed improvement really. Are you sure Chief is using the GTX 970? and not the intergrated GFX Card? is CA assigned the 970 for OpenGL and set to maximum Power in Nvidia Control Panel?

no need to be home but go ahead and try it at home 1st ...works for me.... Open CA on the laptop and click the link in the popup saying it needs activation , you should end up on a webpage showing your Current activated licenses, click on In Use, webpage changes and you get a make available Button, click that, then restart Chief again and click activate with the Current Key. that should be all it takes..... Of course if you are not Home , you will need Wifi for the Laptop as you need Internet but nowadays you can actually do it via your Phone too, via your Digital Locker. ( do you know the Password? )

I think if your SSA has expired there is a penalty to pay ($95? - 30 day grace period I think ) but it is the Cheapest way to get X11, if you wait till X11 is released then you have to Pay for an Upgrade (which includes SSA) instead, which I think is $995 if you are two versions behind. If you are using the Academic Version of CA I think SSA is only $95? But as Graham said best to call them direct , as they did have deals for currently enrolled Students ( with proof ) M.

You need to make a copy of the Siding Wall Type and rename it , eg Siding _Vert. and then change the Siding Material to a Vertical Type from the Library, then change those 3 walls to the new Walltype. M.

Use Align Inner Surface on the Pony Wall Settings...the Ponywall is really thick.... Assign the Porch as a Porch in the Room DBX and I think you'll get the Warning about a Deck over a Living Space to stop too.

The 2nd issue dos not present in X10 but the boards are running in the opposite direct , if I change the direction the door to the Porch changes back to the default brown one too. However I also noticed in the View that the Porch Floor is the same as the Decks so I think CA is getting confused on where the room boundaries are and what to run in what direction somehow. *** Your Siding 6 wall type has been changed and has Siding over the Drywall side of the Wall too which maybe the cause of the confusions as CA usually expects Drywall on the interior side of the Wall. So try making a new Siding 6-2 wall with no Drywall and see if that helps.

hi , just getting back to this now.... Do you really need the Detail/Section to auto build in the plan? or caan you just quickly use a CAD Detail window to redraw your PDF Sketch instead? you are a long way into the plan is why I ask.... I would probably have drawn the part of the building with the Full foundation , made sure that was correct , then turned off auto foundation and drawn the other areas with the MonSlab Floor applied via the ROOM Structure DBX. However CA as always had a issue with bumping Monoslabs up again existing Foundations an seems to have some unwritten , hardcoded rules it uses which can be an Issue and time consuming to deal with. Perry (Drawzilla) and Scott (dshall) are two guys who deal with monoslabs alot , and I know both have some tricks up there sleeves , so hopefully they will drop in and help advise too, but I am think drawing some manual footings etc in maybe the way to go. @DRAWZILLA @dshall

The L and R on Pocket Doors indicates the side they slide too , viewed from the Exterior Side I believe. That maybe why CA sees 4 R and 2 L in your current plan even though they are really identical ITRW

It's so strange CA has done nothing about the Glass ...it has been this way since Beta with no improvements even though they were "working on it" , it's just too common of a Material to ignore like this. M.

You can also draw a Room divider along the edge of the Plank on the right of the gap ( turn planks on in Plan View) and turn off automatic plank direction (should equal 0°) and it should auto heal itself , though you may need to re-frame the deck if it isn't set to Automatic to regenerate the planks...... Send it in please as something is up , a cross section shows the planks not reaching the house on one side and extending through the rim joist by 3 inches on the other...

Possibly the wrong SketchUp Version for whatever version of Chief you are Using ? you haven't filled in your Forum signature , so we don't know what software you are using which is important at times...please see mine below.

Hi Paul, Is the Tenant Area to Surgery Rooms the area of the Join? you didn't leave an elevation Camera or anything in the plan to indicated where the issue is? Also doing an overview several Areas of the Building are "floating" above the Terrain and the front Porch Ceilings are building incorrectly but you may not be done yet of course just thought I'd mention it... M.

The gable Planes are now there in Plan No#2 but they are drawn at the same Pitch and Direction as the main Dormer Roof so are hard to see. You can turn them 90° with the triangle handle and rejoin them or delete them and redraw them in the correct direction. spin and join........ but better to delete and redraw so they start at the right height over the Wall Plate. M.

That appears to be correct the single straight line in the Roof Plane is the direction it is pointing, if you draw them on the 1st floor this is what happens too.

As Robert said you haven't provided enough information about the Project or a copy of your plan file to look at which makes it hard to "guess" what you are trying to do... We ask all new Users to fill in there Signatures ( see mine below) as many times it make a difference in the answer especially with 15+ versions of Chief now floating around....and of course having a name to use is nice too. the Hardware info is also Useful in many questions especially regarding PBR or RT problems. M.

You are missing something in the Video.... This is two different things....... one is drawing the two gables , then after that , cut the hole in the existing roof , with the 3 snap points and pull it back in a V. Then you pull the 2 Gable Roof planes back into the V and use the Join Roof Tool to join the Gable Planes to the Exist Shed Dormer Roof Plane FYI : the Plan you posted above does not have any gable roof planes or the V cut into the Dormer Roof.....
