  1. Perhaps unchecking "Invisible" may help ? M.
  2. That of course would depend on which i7 , I think my oldest one came out 10-12 years ago , my newest ( see below) is 5 years old and Nvidia hasn't made new Driver for the 620 in about 2-3 years now, that's why I was thinking it maybe time to treat yourself to a Whole new(er) system , now need to go crazy as even a reasonably new 2nd hand system eg from Craiglist , will have a bit more "go" than your current system if it is as old as I think , but as it seems you hold onto your computers for longer than most ( as I tend to do) , you may be better off going new, getting the current Tech. so you are futureproofed for another 5yrs... . PDFs do slow down Chief for everyone , but the Videocard won't help with that AFAIK , but a newer CPU may a little, I would suggest getting DWGs from the Surveyor and importing them into a CAD Detail instead, these will also help with 3D Terrain generation (if needed) back in Plan. M.
  3. In your defense the Site Supervisor/Framer should of caught this too, the arrows obviously cross over each other and there is no way Onsite layout of the walls , with the 3 dimensions could of worked....( given the length of the Bedroom).... someone should of asked a question at that point.... However Rob does have some good tips for you there..... The Point to Point Dimension Tool also works well, when the Manual one just picks up way too many things ( as usual ) M.
  4. This usually happens when Chief thinks the object in question is in another room ( or outside) and doesn't need to be lit in the current view. No Room dividers or invisible walls just there are there? The Sun Lumens do look really high judging by the Green colour cast to the light but I am not sure it will alter the "black" doors. M.
  5. If you can afford it go with any of the 2000 series as they have RTX technology, as the hope is at some point Chief will start using it too, since Microsoft is now also recommending it. However if the rest of the computer is as old as the Videocard, ( GTX 620) it maybe money better spent on a new(er) Desktop system that includes a Nvidia Card as it will include a faster CPU as well which Chief also makes heavy use of. ( perhaps a 2nd hand Gamer's computer who is upgrading for example ) My 1070ti is just fine for Chief , it is equal to a 1080 when overclocked slightly and can be silent if that is a big concern , the Fans don't run until the Card hits 60°C though I overclock mine so use Bios 2 to run the fans at all times at 600-900rpm to keep things cool ( 35-38 deg..) M.
  6. Zipping the plan file while the plan is closed in Chief is the usual method to get under 25mb. after that you can delete unneeded items , eg furniture, vehicles etc if already in the plan. M.
  7. Seems to be do-able --when playing with Foundations like this leave Auto Rebuild on so it updates and fixes itself as you make Changes. With the use of the Wall setting "Hang Floor on Wall above" and rebuilding the foundation ( and some manual play at the door to garage) I get this..... the Stem wall / footing seems high but these are your dimensions...
  8. It all depends on the budget and since you are in no rush apparently , wait and make it your Xmas present as Nvidia is due to release a new 3000 Series of cards in the 3rd quarter , which will reportedly ( add grain of salt here to the rumor mill ) be much faster for less money , than current cards...... https://www.tweaktown.com/news/72225/nvidias-mid-range-geforce-rtx-3060-could-beat-flagship-2080-ti/index.html
  9. I ended up doing the same thing - I tried the 4K TV like many here 1st and I found things were too small generally and a couple of years ago Win10 didn't handle different Resolutions well on different Monitors but especially on the mix of TV and monitor , so I returned the TV and got my 1st 2K Benq - then picked up another later as the old 23 Inch NEC's didn't work well in Portrait mode as well I'd hoped. M.
  10. If Ryan was right earlier , you'd need mDP to Thunderbolt adapters too ?? ( or TB to mDP or DP depending on monitor inputs.
  11. I use displayport (DP) on my desktop but the Nvidia card has 3 DP outputs , my monitors being older do not have thunderbolt , so I can't really advise. However I have read I believe that thunderbolt allows daisy chaining ie 1 cable to 1st monitor another from the 1st monitor to the 2nd monitor but then the Monitors would need thunderbolt inputs AND outputs , so look at the Specs carefully. You may need 1 cable of each ( or adaptors and some aren't cheap) if the outputs on the Laptop are 1 DP and 1 TB . * not sure if Macs have HDMI ports? that may also be an option. M.
  12. Yes, I love my 32" Benq's ( BL3200 - newer model available these Days though), I went from 23" NEC IPS types to the 32" and like the extra Room. Their VA Panels are very good and may let you save some money vs true IPS monitors, Personally I did not go 4K either, mine are 2560x1440 models. https://www.benq.com/en-us/monitor/designer/pd3200q.html this one is $399 online ( Amazon , B&H, Adorama, NewEgg etc) Several others I have recommended Benq's too have also liked them. Strangely though the CAD/CAM Setting is not for my eyes at least. @MarkMc I think Mark may have that model so maybe able to give you more info. https://www.benq.com/en-us/monitor/designer/pd2700q.html this one is $299 online M.
  13. Perhaps try deleting the foundation and then rebuilt it auto again. M.
  14. All looks good here too now Alan , so Thanks. M.
  15. Hi Alan , maybe just a bad Pic and I didn't download the Symbol but it looks like the part of the toilet bowl under the Flush valve is corrupt /broken to me? M.
  16. Status Bar off perhaps ? ( check Preferences) M.
  17. If you are feeling Nice ...I know you are ...then check the box in Defaults under Plan to allow HD Users to edit the File.... and resave the Plan. It won't help of Course if it is not HD Pro 2020 though and I see no Signature confirming the Software title in Use. M.
  18. If it is two walls bumped against each other , that is not necessary , it is a STD Brick Clad Veneer , 2x4 Wall and can be built into 1 Wall definition. Chief has pre-made Brick 4 and per-made brick 6 Walls to try out or Copy and make your own if needed. M.
  19. See my post above , it is your best chance and what Tech Support would advise looking at 1st. Might want to check you File Management in Preferences and set it for every 5 minutes and Hourly too for the future... M.
  20. Lew should be right as long as the File was named , Chief's auto backup and auto save should of been working , you may have lost some work but there should be an Autosave and a auto -archive file available in the Chief Data Folder>Archives> [FileName]_xxxxxxxx eg : A:\Documents\Chief Architect Premier X12 Data\Archives\Porch test_462708772168641121
  21. It didn't work well for me as my old 23" monitors would not do the same resolution height (1440) as the main 32" monitor I had at full width, ie they'd only do 900x1440 so it didn't fill the full 1080p screen in Vertical, so I ended up with more 32" monitors over the next few years as I replaced them. M.
  22. You would also need to add the Roof,Gutters and Roof, RidgeCaps , AND the Framing, Roof, Rafters to that Special No M Layer as well I think. *and any other Items like Roof,Blocking. or Roof Trusses etc as needed , or simply uncheck the M in the ALDO M.
  23. Gets it close for me.................. not sure it is correct though as I don't know the "true height of the building... Not using automatic or using an elevation Region like Mark suggested is likely a better way to go... M.
  24. Nope . Chief does not "Panelize" Walls for convenient Framing , it is assumed the Framer would know how to do that without help, and in my Experience most framers will not give a s*** how chief frames it cos " I've been framing for 30 yrs and know better" M.
