  1. Everything in Chief is drawn at 1:1, as you are really, even in Plan View, Drawing 3D Objects, ie Walls, Cabinets etc, it is only when you Send to Layout (at the preferred Scale) that a Scale is applied to that View. The Layout Scale should always be 1:1 otherwise you will Scale everything twice when Printing. M.
  2. This is correct + well said..... you can use them straight Out Of the Box (OOB) with no problems. M.
  3. PBR Views rely heavily on the Sunlight, even if Interior views and as you can see your Background ( green trees) is adding a Color cast to the Light , if you'd used and Autumn scene or perhaps a Sunset the light cast would be orangey/red instead. Rooms also play into the scene as Chief normally lights the Room the Camera is in , not others you can see from the room you are in , so in Open plan situations you need to take a bit more control of the lighting yourself or even add 3D lights to help out. * I always make sure Clients know that Colors on a monitor will not match the real world swatches especially since most don't own Color Calibrated Monitors. Mick.
  4. Several Others also Offer Services in the Offers Forum Like Jintu ( Chiefer here on the Forum ) http://www.jintudesigns.com/
  5. The Lux values in Chief at not "Real World" as far as I have ever been able to ascertain...... Much of Graham's PBR advice is in his Thread "Lets PBR".... if you have not read it .....very in-depth info ( He also has a Ray-Trace Thread if interested ) Older thread now as PBR has been around for 3 versions now but still worth a Read if you really want more in-depth Info on PBR ...there are NO MAGIC Settings or quick Fixes as every scene is different..... Mick.
  6. Yes as David mentioned, as long as Auto build foundation is OFF , it'll just mean having to draw those walls yourself on level 0 when you need/want too. ( use your Reference Layer to walls above and the Wall Align Tool ) M.
  7. Perhaps as you try and Practice with Gimp , you'd like to Share some Seamless or Other Textures with other Chief Users? then I think this Thread would be a good Place to put them as there is no Forum dedicated to such matters. 2560x1440 Black and White (IR) Screen Background I made following the 1st Gimp Basic Tutorial of a recent SpaceX launch. The Full sized File : Space_Launch_IR_Small.zip
  8. Been a while since I used X8 but I think you are looking at the CAD block labels perhaps , not the Labels from the Schedule , especially if you deleted it.... a free screen grabs using the Snippping Tool or posting the Plan may help you get it fixed quicker.... M.
  9. Try adding Chief's Rope light instead , I think you can do it right from the Trey Ceiling DBX now.... M.
  10. I've had Gimp on and off over the Years but never having owned Photoshop , I never found it very intuitive to use , so I am hoping the new version released this month , has some nice useabilty changes too. I have mainly use MS Paint to make textures for Chief from screen grabs in the past , some look good , some not so much but it largely depends on the initial quality of the pic too , eg subdued flat lighting is important. M.
  11. Try upping the Ambient Interior and Daylight in your Defaults to about 48-52% ...I have this set in my Default template so I don't need to change it for every Camera , every Plan. ( night-time is 5-6% so it looks like night-time not Dusk.... * this effect Standard Renders mostly M.
  12. Thanks Chopsaw , I had not seen this before and had been meaning to try it out. Thought this info would be good for Others too so I made a Tip out of it too : https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/26855-seamless-textures-using-gimp/
  13. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tip Added here after being found buried in a post in the Q&A Section as I thought it would be useful for Others, Thx Chopsaw. *I have also added some PDFs and links for GIMP. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Making SEAMLESS TEXTURES using Gimp. * this info is in the PDF below too It's an open source (free) photo editing software available at https://www.gimp.org Tutorials are here : https://www.gimp.org/tutorials/ Direct link as of : Mar.13th 2023 https://download.gimp.org/gimp/v2.10/windows/gimp-2.10.34-setup.exe 1. Open the image file in Gimp. 2. Edit > Copy, then Edit > Paste as new layer. Paste it as a new layer three times so you have a total of four copies, each on their own layer. 3. Image > Canvas Size. Exactly double the width and height of the image/canvas size. 4. Use the alignment tool to align each layer in its own corner (so they are all visible, not overlapped). 5. Use the "flip" tool to reverse/mirror three of the layers. Leave the top-left corner alone. Reverse the top-right corner horizontally. Reverse the lower-left corner vertically. Reverse the lower right corner horizontally and vertically. 6. Export the new image. This will now be a seamless texture when tiled. Choose it as the texture file for your material. 7. Adjust the scale of your new material since the size of the image is now larger. * the Info above is in the PDF below too SEAMLESS TEXTURES USING GIMP.pdf I also made a PDF of the Latest Release Notes GIMP 2.10.20 Release Notes.pdf Mick
  14. Thanks for clearing that up I was a tad confused at 1st too.... Joey has stated he doesn't like or use SPVs ( another Thread), --- but I think he's coming around now he sees they are really just more powerful Anno Sets * apparently not - see below M.
  15. This is also the way I prefer to do it , bit more work to begin with but worth it in my book.... M.
  16. I see you have HD Pro 2021 too , and as far as I know it has exactly the same Roof Tools as Premier... M.

  22. Magnifique! Magnafic ! ( or is that magnific ?) M.
  23. See if PDF Editor Allows you to "Flatten" the layers...... (makes it non-editable basically) OR maybe it is the opposite problem and 1 is flatten and the other not ? found Online...... To flatten an image open it in Microsoft Edge, select print, set the printer to Microsoft print to PDF and save a copy to your HD. I have found that this method does not work with Acrobat reader or internet explorer. OR from the US Court System..... Follow the steps below to "flatten" a completed PDF fillable form: 1. Open fillable form. 2. Add appropriate data. 3. Right click on document and select Print. NOTE: if document opens in Adobe, Select File and select Print. 4. Select the PDF printer. (The Adobe PDF printer is installed automatically with Adobe Acrobat. Numerous free PDF printer drivers are available for download from the Internet.) 5. Select OK. 6. Specify location to save the printed, "flattened" version of the form. 7. Select Save.
  24. Everyone on the Forum is turning into a Comedian theses days !
  25. Try making the Frame bigger than 1/16 x1/16" perhaps? - in Chief that it practically "invisible" M.
