Do you still have all the Textures Files from those old ChiefSymbols Libraries? M. -
Clean up corners when using break tool on deck railing
Kbird1 replied to bmatth1's topic in General Q & A
Chief always (has) joins Walls along their Centerline , the only way of not doing that is the new Option that came in X11 , is to make a new Walltype with the Partition Wall Option Set at the very bottom of the Wall Definition - this is supposed to allow two walls to touch surface to surface only and still remain joined to get Room definition. ***Not sure if it will work in this particular case though.... *** Edit.......... Might be worth playing with the Half Post settings in cases like this..... M. -
But if you need too occasionally just uncheck the Behavior Indicators checkbox in Preferences > Edit >Behaviors at the bottom any of these could be attached to your Icon - so it might be worth a look to as why it's there before you turn off the Indicators 1st.

You need a second floor as noted otherwise Chief won't allow roos on the 2nd story. Build your Roof in the Gambrel Style with the IGNORE 2nd floor check box on in the Build Roof DBX Then cut holes in the Roof planes and add your Shed Dormer(s) manually. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00915/creating-a-dormer-in-a-roof-with-multiple-pitches.html Mick.

If you do a of of manually reframing for a deck it maybe an Idea to also set the Retain Framing if Room is Deleted Checkbox too , incase you accidently detach a railing or something.
-
You should start the Plan in the Metric Template if you know beforehand you need cm or mm etc. M.

SECOND FLOOR - HOW TO CREATE A DECK OVER THE ROOM AT FIRST FLOOR
Kbird1 replied to hieuthuanho's topic in General Q & A
Yes try the Balcony Room , this will stop the insistent " deck over living space Error message" you can change the Balcony flooring to look like Decking. M. -
Changing the 2nd Floor Joist Direction in Just One Room or Wing?
Kbird1 replied to ClarkeThrasher's topic in General Q & A
In X12 it is now possible to frame individual rooms but you may be able to add Joist direction and Bearing lines in X11 and get what you need. M. -
(3) x 32" identical Benq's here and no issues , my ALDO and Library live on the outer screens. Are all screens on DP cables ? or are you using HDMI? mine are all DisplayPort , but have seen some weird things with people trying to use HDMI to say a big Screen TV. M.

Mark's method is how a lot of Roof work must be done in the Lessor Home Designer Titles as there is no manual Roof Tools , Only Home Designer Pro has them. M.
-
I don't think so in that particular case ...... Break the right or left Roof plane's edge and drag it over and through the other side.... lapping it over the other one, ensure they are co-planar then use the Union Tool to join the two roof planes into one. M.

This is a common problem and is suspected to be due to different screen resolutions - many posts/threads on it here on the Forum over the last 2-3 years. The easiest fix is to select your text tool , marquee select ALL the text in the Plan , Open the DBX and Close it again without doing anything. Mick.

You're right of course , I was thinking about the current state of the Software and how difficult it would be to place "Symbols" to do it and the fact you'd need to know the plumbing Code to place stuff correctly. M.

I look forward to the complete Library with 90's,Tees, Wyes, and couplings I do however hope we are never required to do a 3D Plumbing "Plan" ...... M.
-
Thanks that could be a handy symbol and much easier than a 3D molding polyline at least for a straight Vent Line...
-
These are two pics of example I have, I have saved over the years from here on the Forum in case I ever had to do one....
-
You're joking right ? go around ??? hahahahaha , thankfully they banned Plumbers from using Chainsaws, not that a good Sawzall and fresh Blade can't create havoc for your local friendly Framer M.

Here is an old post of mine for X10 to try and fix your Associations:
-
Once downloaded from the Top Menu Use > Library > Import Library (calibz or calib) from within Chief X10 ( or whatever Version you are using ) , it is still the best way , rather than double clicking downloaded Files in the Downloads folder or Opening the file from your Browser's download dialog... a new DBX will open and you just show it the files in the folder to downloaded the libraries too. EVERY camera view has it OWN ALDO settings , ie Plan, Elevations, All 3D Cameras etc etc and the Layer must be on in them all..... if you can't see something , switch the layerset to All ON , open the object and see which layer it is on , switch back to the Original Layerset from All On , and ensure the Layer for the "missing" Object is On ie checked with blue mark in the DISP column in the ALDO ( Active Layer Display Options). If still using Roof Autobuild? , play with the Same Eave Height and Same Roof Height at Ext. Walls Settings , ie one or the other On or Off or both Off etc, but you may need to go Manual at some point. Info from the Manual... Specify how you would like the eaves of roof planes with different pitches to meet. See Aligning Eaves. • Check Same Roof Height at Exterior Walls to keep bearing walls the same height and change horizontal roof overhang distances as needed so that eaves meet correctly. When checked, this option ignores any overhang values you may have entered in the Wall Specification dialog. See Aligning Eaves. Uncheck this option to raise or lower some roof planes relative to the wall’s top plate, allowing all horizontal overhangs to be the same unless a non-default value has been entered in the Wall Specification dialog. See Roof Directives in Walls. • Check Same Height Eaves to keep the eave height for all roof planes the same. Roof planes are raised and lowered as needed so that eaves meet correctly. The eave height used when this box is checked is that of a roof plane using the default Pitch and Overhang values. When this box is checked, all roof planes are affected, including those that do not need adjustment in order to align with adjacent planes. When Same Height Eaves is checked, any non-default overhang values specified in the Wall Specification dialog are used. Roof planes are raised or lowered so that the eave height is the same, regardless of the horizontal overhang. • Uncheck Allow Low Roof Planes only when an upper floor overhangs roof planes below.

Beaten to it.... yes rather small lot currently at 8m x 6.6m but thanks for the Vid. we don't use Northing and Eastings here..... Maybe worth moving to the Tips section though since I think that is the 1st time I have seen this asked here... Turning on Line Lengths and Angles helps for Plot Plans too. M.
