  1. Yes, it's the wall elevation tool. I've done it many times in the past. No problem pasting between elevation windows in the same plan
  2. Would you consider upgrading your machine? I find that it's necessary every couple of years, especially when Chief comes out with a new version. And I agree with Perry to stick with NVidia. Usually a gaming graphics card works well with Chief. Once I spent a $1k on a workstation graphics card at someone's advice, and it turned out that a $400 card was much faster for Chief. If you do an upgrade, don't do an integrated graphics card (you probably already know this).
  3. Wow, that's cool. Thanks Scott!
  4. Sometimes I'll open a plan and every time I get that at one intersection. I'll delete and rebuild and the issue stops until next time I open the plan.
  5. I'm not having that problem. Thank goodness. But I haven't been working on very large plans. What I've found helpful in the past is to put items with a lot of facets on their own layers that I turn off until I need to see them.
  6. I have pretty fast computers, so it doesn't affect me much, I have noticed a bit of a lag over previous versions. Five years is ancient!
  7. Not sure if it's unique to this new plan I'm working on, but I no longer have the ability to copy from a wall elevation and paste it into another wall elevation in a different plan. I've done this for ages until now. Anyone else having issues?
  8. Below is my query and her response. Dear Adam, While we currently offer 8 CAD formats, we’re always happy to know what customers would like us to add in the future. We’ve receive quite a few requests today for Chief Architect and are adding this to our for future consideration. Thank you for letting us know you would like to see this format! I often specify your products but have to use Viking or Jenn-Air for elevations and renderings. Regards, Adam Gibson
  9. Great idea. I sent an email. Thanks for that.
  10. I love the new ability to specify counter top overhangs without creating custom tops. But I wish we could dimension to them as well. So it turns out it's not saving any time.
  11. I should have explained better. I want the railing (of my choosing) pass over the newels.
  12. Does anyone know the best way to get a cable rail's top rail to display correctly? It's always bothered me!
  13. I'm sorry I missed it. Once I realized it was delayed I went to a meeting. Any chance a synopsis can be posted?
  14. I thought I'd share this discovery. Since I design a lot of kitchens and often use soffits, floating or otherwise, to compress spaces, I've always had issues placing recessed lights in custom soffits, e.g.: polyline solids that I've designated as soffits. The recessed cans always conform to the pitch of the roof in a vaulted (cathedral) ceiling, which looks terrible in a rendering, and bizarre in elevation. Chief is smart enough to place cans properly when using cabinet soffits, but not in polyline solids for good reason. If you add a custom ceiling plane at the same height as the bottom of the soffit with zero pitch, the recessed cans conform to that pitch. You can then turn off the ceiling plane layers in any views since you won't need to see them.
