  1. I have imported 50 or so items into the user library as furniture. Now I want to change all the items to another layer. How can I change all items to a new layer? The layer is now created.
  2. Robert, I do not have that texture picture file. Am I doing something wrong when importing?
  3. That's an easy build in Chief. Why use SketchUp
  4. Restart the computer & if that didn't fix it send it to tech support.
  5. I'll be using that. Is there a way to control the font size independently?
  6. Just for reference. https://www.cad-steel.com/steel-sections/w-shapes-american-wide-flange-beams
  7. I downloaded a DWG file & removed the duct so you can make the duct any size from a p-solid. Hood-Island Modern.calibz
  8. How about an SKP file? https://www.arcat.com/company/whirlpool-corporation-36529/bim/jenn-air-ventilation-78007 https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search/?q=range hood
  9. Perry How do you remember all those little tricks?
  10. You did not like the Chief "Low Profile Hood" in the catalog?
  11. 12. As Michael said, click the wall followed by the dimension text. If it does not open for edit the dimension is not snaped to the wall.
  13. Eric, Nice solution, very accurate. Thanks
  14. I was preparing a view to send to the structural people as they can not seem to understand the desired slope of the roof. So I made it obvious with the arrows. They can be hard headed at times. I took the columns down to the foundation pads as they don't rest on the sidewalk. Can you snap to the poly solid surface? I could copy in place & drag the bottom to snap to the surface.
  15. When a column or other solid penetrates a slab there are no lines at the base when you send to layout. How do most of you deal with this? I was thinking holes in the sidewalk might be the cleanest.
  16. Currently our code says: R806.2Minimum vent area. The minimum net free ventilating area shall be 1/150 of the area of the vented space. I think at one time it said floor of the attic. So if you had cantilevered trusses would you include soffits in that area? I think I've used the exterior face of the exterior wall for years. I seem to remember the ceiling delimiting the attic & I used the interior face of the exterior wall. Maybe 20 years ago. Question is what defines "area of the vented space"?
  17. That bears repeating! Open up the walls you intend to use and make sure the material thicknesses are what you want. Make sure you pay attention to the MAIN layer, and the exterior layer. For example some like frame walls with sheeting (OSB or Plywood) to align with the face of the foundation block. Some like the framing to align with the face of the foundation block. In this case the sheeting will need to be on the Exterior Layer. Then Wall Setting within the same dialog, the three pull downs should usually be the same. This is important for keeping walls above on the next floor aligned properly. If you learn these setting up front you prevent a lot of head scratching until you do. Enjoy.
  18. Mark, you figured it out. It was the extra floor. All is well now. Thanks
  19. I've had this issue on and off for some time. The plan original file was several years old, a new similar house. Why are some of the foundation walls filled & others not? Thanks Foundation.zip
  20. Just tried MS Edge & no issues. Looks like the Chief website is using a larger font. I am able to change Firefox font size & it changes for other web sites but not for Chief.
  21. Not sure if this is the correct forum. I'm seeing this issue for the past week or so with the web site. The frame overlaps the one above. Do others have the same issue?
  22. Rob, That's a great tip. Unfortunately, I did it the hard way Gate Steel Slats.calibz
