When you created the 2nd floor, you could have chose the option to draw your own 2nd floor walls over the first floor walls rather than having Chief do them automatically. Going this route, you would not have seen any 2nd floor walls over the garage. If you go auto mode, Chief will draw 2nd floor walls over all first floor "exterior" walls.

Here's where to do it:

The standard view's "texture" setting needs to be adjusted as req'd to make them match.

Nice Dennis. At least you got rid of the "light fuzz" around the crown moulding. The light in the cabinet on the right appears to be in the wrong location to me (too low). If those are wood or ??? shelves in the cabinets, I wonder how it would look if they were glass?

I like what you are doing. Suggestion: Maybe a title or heading over the call outs on the right side. I would really be nice if there was a generic schedule function in Chief, especially for different types of notes, where we could populate the various columns/rows with information per our own choosing, including use of call outs such as you are doing.

Looks much better to me. Have you adjusted the contrast yet? If not, you might give that a try. Maybe placing a light behind the camera to brighten the room up a bit would help to.

Going to the toolbar > View > selecting ALDO doesn't work?

I opened your pdf file in Bluebeam View and see the tear in all of the images. In Adobe I saw multiple tears on some images the second time I viewed them; the first time I only saw one with a long tear while another had a shorter tear toward the bottom right. Seems to be playing tricks with my eyes each time I view them.

Great video Michael. There is a Chief video by Scott Harris (a kitchen video I think) where he creates a cabinet with farmhouse sink. Can't remember how he did his but did watch it within the last few weeks.

The "correctly" is the part I am trying to figure out.

There are several things with the GH design that need to be worked out. Prior to my taking on this job, my client solicited a bid from a window dealer for the GH glass. I came up with the roof pitch by using the dealer's sketch of the L/R heights of the raked glass to be used on the right side of the building. I have been trying to get information from the dealer about the glass showed in their proposal but they are extremely busy so not sure when I will be getting the information I want. As far as the roofing materials, right now I am using the same shingle I have on the house. That could change. The roof pitch might change. I have told my client that there could be issues with roofing warranties if the pitch is too flat.

If you are talking about the green house design, this is a work in progress. The design was actually done by my client - I've just put it into Chief and made it sort of look pretty at this point in time. I've never done a GH before so this is a new thing for me. I have a ways to go before this is done. My client say she wants glass ... not some of the other products available. Thankfully, she's in a 30 lb. snow load area. A glass company quoted her for all the glazing ... I am trying to find out how the glass is going to be installed .... type of frames, etc. I suspect before it is all over, the roof will be much different. The pitch is less than 3:12 so there will likely be a concern about roofing materials for the non-glass parts.

This green house I am working on is giving me fits. Noticed that some of the edges were out of square so fixed them ... then saw that the roof planes' connection of the ridge was also out of square. No ... it is a good question that's been asked and/or researched by just about everyone using Chief. If you have X9 and are current with your SSA, go to Help in the tool bar and there will be a drop down menu for the CA training videos. I would suggest you watch all you can find about setting up layers/layer sets/anno sets ... and perhaps read about them as well. Scott Harris (Chief staff) did a pretty good one that I think will help you a lot. He goes pretty fast so you may want to watch it more than once. After you've done your looking and if you still have questions, then come back to the forum and fire away.

What is the procedure to turn a symbol into a .calibiz? I looked a little bit but didn't see anything.

Greg: I made a stab at creating this FP for you. I did not try to doing anything to it that is representative of the flue/vent going through a wall. You will have to add that as CAD in plan if you want to show something like that. It sits on the floor when placed in a plan .... you can open the symbol dbx and put 17" or whatever you want in the value box for Z. Here's the plan with the symbol in the library ... Orion 46 Fireplace. I have two in the library from Robert as well ... mine has the word Fireplace added. Orion46.plan
