  1. Don't know what to say Bill. I haven't downloaded that catalog. The Project Description for the download says "...you'll also find cars and trucks, even some emergency vehicles". There is a significant difference between the file sizes of the downloads for X5 vs. X9. Maybe everything isn't available for X5. Suggest that you contact technical support on Monday. If you can talk to Nigel, he is the man. He will sort it all out for you.
  2. BTW, have you tried just updating your core catalogs? Select "Library">"Update Library Content". I assume it was an option in X5.
  3. If you go to Chief's 3D Library you can download their Vehicles content. It says that they go back to version X4.
  4. What version of the software are you running? There are cars and trucks in the core catalogs and there are more in the bonus catalogs. Here is where the core catalog vehicles are found.
  5. This is excellent advice. If you adopt this approach you will save yourself a lot of grief and aggravation trying to figure out how the various light sources perform. It deserves more than a +1.
  6. Is anybody else experiencing this in X9? >Draw a simple floor plan. >Build the roof and framing. >Take a Perspective Framing Overview. >Run a quick Ray Trace with default settings. The wall framing will not display in the Ray Trace. I just performed the exact same operations in X8 and everything displays just fine in the Ray Trace.
  7. Please do. I busted my hump to get home for the 11:00 start time and wouldn't you know it, the power in the neighborhood was off and it didn't come back on until 2:30.
  8. Hey! Here is a remodel project in progress for a neighbor up the road a piece. Maybe not as impressive as Bob's lake house but it's always nice to see your design taking shape in actual brick and mortar. As always 100% Chief. In light of the fact that we have had 15" of rain in the past 6 weeks, and with more on the way, the owners are reconsidering their landscaping options so that's a blank canvas for now.
  9. Nice monitor stand for that new Acer 27" Larry.
  10. Depending on what you are after you can always shoot your own backdrop photos. If that's not an option I often search Google Images to get what I'm looking for. You want to start with an image that has a believable horizon line and sun shadow angles that match your model. To get an image to display correctly for a particular background you can adjust the point where the horizon line crosses your image up or down using image editing software. It also helps to position elements of your model and terrain so that they tend to blur the distinction between what is the model and what is the background.
  11. Have you checked out this thread Michael? Jonathan was getting some nice effects.
  12. Stairs... the final frontier. I wish I could help you Lady, but all I can offer is emotional support. I'm happy if I can get a couple of steps to line up with the front door. If you pull this off I think you should qualify for a bronze star with an oak leaf cluster. I have followed the spiral staircase threads with interest but haven't actually tried my hand at creating them. Hopefully some of the 'heavy hitters" will have some suggestions.
  13. Here is the way I got my name out in the local community. I modeled one of the local landmarks, which happened to be the auditorium for a local high school and donated it to the school for their use. Even though I'm not really in the business, I have received several offers to model some other local buildings in the area. I am currently working on the oldest school house in the area which was built in 1905. Here is one of the images of the auditorium that the high school requested.
  14. I'm not seeing any bleeding issues. I opened your plan but didn't see any saved interior camera views so I just took a Full Camera view of the cabinets and ran a High Quality Indoor Ray Trace. Can you post the troublesome camera view or perhaps the problem image and the settings you are using?
  15. Mine is located on the Chief startup menu right below the "Auto-Build Entire Model" button. Seriously Anthem, what you are asking for doesn't really exist. I think Michael summed it up pretty well. Just for an example here is the same camera shot Ray Traced with 3 different simple 3D backgrounds and different material properties. It all depends on the effects you are trying to achieve. Top to Bottom: Daytime Nighttime Back to the Future Time
  16. lol, Perry you know I was just kidding with you. What if you had died and come back as a zombie Chiefer? Then, technically, Dave is within his rights to end your "lifetime" subscription.
  17. Looking good Justin. I see you are using the ZIP system sheathing. I have been looking into using it for a project of mine but I have been having trouble finding a local supplier. Seems like a very tidy installation, how do you like it?
  18. Hey Perry, have you checked your pulse lately?
  19. Hey Mick. Good to see you back. For a while there I thought you had fallen off the face of the earth. I even posted in the Chat Room asking about your whereabouts, but nobody cared. BTW, you might want to edit your listing for Michael's YouTube Channel.
  20. That's some good stuff there Michael. +1 I've never bought into the whole process of just drawing your walls to any old dims first and then editing them later to make them the right length. For how I use the program I almost always know the length I want so it seems foolish and timewasting not to draw them correctly to start with. This seems a lot smoother than constantly hitting Tab and entering the value for the length of each wall there.
  21. Anybody else getting this. I just installed the latest X9 update (Build 19.03.50x64) and now every time I open a new plan I'm getting this message which doesn't make sense since I'm not opening an existing plan but a brand new one in X9. I wasn't getting this message in the prior X9 Beta version.
  22. Hey Scott, I don't know why but the quality of these 2 vids on dropbox are displaying in really crappy resolution on my screen and there doesn't seem to be any setting to improve the image quality. Your youtube vids are sharp and crisp as usual however.
  23. Here's my 2 cents worth. The "G" in Glenn's version ain't right. It's more like the one in Johnny's version. But then in Johnny's version the "M" is correct but the "W" isn't.
  24. Another advantage of PEX is that it has no resale value. You don't have to worry about vandals ripping out your water lines to sell for scrap metal. With Copper selling for about $2.50 a pound these days you don't want it laying around the construction site.
  25. Hey David, the text in your avatar is an interesting spin on a quote by the most decorated Marine of all time. He said: "Pain is weakness leaving the body!"
