  1. That's some very handy info Chris. Funny how we can dabble with a search engine and never really take the time to learn how to most efficiently access the mountains of information available there. Properly used this could put the forum out of business.
  2. It's a little thing but it has been bugging me no end. How do you make the baseboard continue under the toe kick of a base cabinet?
  3. Sorry, that's all I got. Maybe one of the Mac crowd will weigh in. It's a lot more cumbersome, but couldn't you copy the content and close the 1st instance and then open the 2nd instance and paste into that one?
  4. I'm not a Mac guy but have you tried holding down the Command key while launching the second instance?
  5. If you have the time you can create the pattern using psolids with a tile material. Once you have created one instance of the pattern you can block it and copy it to create a larger area.
  6. Who says that you can't achieve "photo quality" Ray Traces with Chief? I would be willing to wager that the creator's of Chief never imagined that this image would be generated with their software.
  7. If one was a beta tester on the last version do they have to send in a new request for X10?
  8. Dave, I find your proficiency both inspirational and annoying. +1
  9. I've been repeating this until I'm blue in the face (well actually green in the face). All this aftermarket stuff is great but not germane to a Chief software forum. What is germane is anything that leads to improved results with Chief software. I don't think you can argue the point that starting with the best possible image from Chief will yield the best results when taking it to post production software. If I were a moderator I would remove all these non Chief type of posts. If you want to see how Chief would import to a post production software I would suggest that you log into one of their forums and ask what is the best way to import a Chief file.
  10. You guys are killing me. I would hope that that there are programs out there that can produce outstanding results, but this is a Chief forum. I am all about achieving the best possible results using Chief software. If you want to go somewhere else fine but, let's focus on what's possible with Chief.
  11. lol! Reminds me of the old adage: There's no such thing as a free puppy.
  12. According to this link, no. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00027/what-operating-systems-does-chief-architect-run-on.html
  13. Can't say about the 4K display functionality and your hardware setup but you should also consider operating system requirements. According to this link: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00027/what-operating-systems-does-chief-architect-run-on.html X2 will only run on Windows XP, Vista and 7. You may have some issues getting full functionality out of your 4K display with Windows 7.
  14. If you want to control your operating system then go back to Windows 7. If you don't care if Microsoft controls every aspect of your operating system then go with Windows 10.
  15. Well, there you have it. Chopsticks comes thru again.
  16. If I'm not mistaken Alaskan_Son did a nice video demonstrating how to build that. The bad news is that I wouldn't know where to start a forum search for said video. Perhaps you should look him up or vice versa.
  17. Asus just released some new gaming laptops. http://edgeup.asus.com/2017/rog-strix-gaming-laptop-guide-gl503-gl703-scar-hero/?utm_source=EDM&utm_medium=EMAIL&utm_campaign=GL503 EDM - US
  18. Upon further review.... I see what you are saying. For some reason the center of the sidewalk now snaps to the street side of the curb, thus creating the problem. In X8 the center of the sidewalk used to snap to the sidewalk side of the curb. Looks like a bug to me. You might want to report it. While you're at it ask them why the center of the sidewalk is used as the snap point? Seems like we should be able to choose either edge as the snap point. I didn't see anything in the defaults to change this behavior.
  19. Move your sidewalk over so that it lines up with the inside of the curb in plan view.
  20. Aw shucks, you beat me to it Michael. That's just how I would have done it. You are the man! Another +1.
  21. Where's Bill Emery? I'd bet that Bill could pull off something close to that. Many moons age he helped me pull off a swaybacked roof in Chief. His approach involved curved invisible walls and Polyline Subtraction to form curved roof edges. Seems like a similar approach might work here.
  22. I'm not seeing any difference in the two images. Have you tried exporting the ray trace as a .PNG file type?
  23. Nigel is the man! You got a hold of the right rep. If there is a solution he will find it. That guy can troubleshoot anything.
  24. I recently got 8 points for telling a bad joke. The only deal was that 5 of them were positive and 3 of them were negative. Can't prove it though as the post has subsequently been pulled.
  25. Here's an example of Polyline Subtraction I was playing with a while back.
