  1. I also would show each building as a whole using a small scale with larger paper size as needed, with all the units, but only show any details in the unit plan. Also show total building dimensions.
  2. Chief simply does not have the engine that Revit has. That's why you have to pay the big bucks for it.
  3. I would do it in Revit for sure if you can.
  4. It got a little faster by turning off the doors.
  5. Larry has dual Zeon's going, there goes my theory on a new processor. Has to be a Chief thing
  6. Joe, I edited my post about the overviews, you didn't see it, it does take a while to come up, but ok after that.
  7. Slow for me as well, not sure why. Maybe Joe is on to it. Do a typical unit plan for each different style, but if you need a full overview, takes a while to get there, but ok once you see it.. Maybe a faster computer would handle it. Titan video card 12gb memory , faster CPU. Of course that all cost money. This would make me turn down that job or include the cost of the new computer in the price.
  8. Chief will conventionally frame any area that doesn't have trusses automatically. My contractor clients just don't ever want to use trusses even if the existing has trusses. It takes to much time to set trusses up for them.
  9. Not sure b/c we have already had the training-- but I guess we could always learn something new.
  10. No UGM this year, those are every other year.
  11. You guys are forgetting about this condition. And I think my" Licensed Structural engineer" for 40 plus years, might just know more about this. I have had plan check corrections regarding this, he calls them and --no problem after. Richard, I hope you structures don't collapse, best of luck.
  12. FYI, been doing it that way for 40 years--no problems, talk to a structural engineer that knows. you'll learn.
  13. We try to create a truss effect even when there are no manufactured trusses. Ceiling and rafter joists at the same spacing. Much better than not.
  14. framing defaults and deck defaults
  15. Check the materials list for square footage's .It also includes the roof overhang area.
  16. Not mine, he wants them on every job when not having a bearing ridge including a metal strap
  17. 1. upload into Chief from room planner's cloud, yes but the cloud has a max. of 5 plans at this point. 2. no camera views in room planner and they don't transfer, either way. 3. no
  18. I just draw them in, in section elevation view, it would be nice to have a tool, b/c I have them in just about every non-beam ridge condition.
  19. I use this slab footing tool all the time and do not want it to default to invisible. It's good as is.
  20. Actually I'm in Eastvale near Corona but most of my work is in Orange county, in every city there.
  21. also save as PDF then print that should work
  22. make out of 2 windows and slide them together in elevation view.
  23. also try to center it on the page using the center on page tool.
  24. I don't know of any groups in the Los Angeles area. But most of my work is in Orange County.
