  1. I personally only use CA's materials for placemarkers if I plan on rendering externally. Renderings such as this are 100% materials outside of CA: Also landscaping is easy and robust in sketchup using 3d warehouse. I honestly don't do many walkthroughs, I typically do linked renderings or 3d renderings for VR headsets or FB uploads:
  2. Just poking fun but ironically the quoted text explains itself...CA is for drafting and design first and foremost and it warrants its price tag, Lumion is expensive because it takes a lot to develop a rendering platform of this level. Here's the good news, CA exports to sketchup quite beautifully using 3ds exporting. Go render walk-throughs in sketchup free, you wont be disappointed...and it really is fast to go from concept to finish from CA to skp.
  3. I didn't put much effort into this but just adding a round molding to the gutter designation? You could build a pretty simple 3d molding for the eave
  4. I was not able to open the plan-no data If its a small plan no need to zip
  5. From the album: A COLLECTION OF RENDERINGS

Chief Architects Design, the "chic cottage" which can be found in the samples gallery. I rendered it as an experiment
  6. Looking to expand my portfolio and libraries while providing a service. Offering exterior renders for $400, that's $100 for the scene setup and $300 per shot. This price assumes your landscaping is designed into the model as you would see in a Chief Sample Plan such as the Chic Cottage: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/samples.html Then I work my magic and it comes out like this: Always a great way to market your designs, you won't get this price for images this polished anywhere else Just looking for a few happy go lucky customers. Timeline will be time available for me.
  7. Hey Rob, I sent you an email with a rendering of the project you sent over..would you mind if I used it to offer my rendering services here on the forums?

  8. Gap from marked object under the extensions tab in your dimension defaults. set it to say 12"-18"
  9. The setup you mentioned should be sufficient for Premier Pro, I have no input on cards, I typically use nVidia for its rendering capabilities. Yes more cores the better for traces, it is CPU dependent, I have a 14 core that uses all cores on CA, but CA raytraces are terribly inefficient for me, I only use it to diagnose other users efforts in the endeavor. Samsung 970 pro would be my top vote on drives
  10. My biggest question for hardware recommendations will always be; What other programs do you use and depend on? Are you moving to a desktop from a laptop? Hard drive is a big part of the equation, spring for an NVME drive or the SATA 4 based drives...there are some current threads on this if you limit a search by date. 32gb RAM is a must for me...I run a ton of temp files from various programs in RAM. Single thread CPU speed makes for a Fast workflow...more cores for raytracing..find your balance. There are also people who charge small fees for renders outside software at a lower cost than it probably takes you to produce an inferior trace in CA(sorry Chief).
  11. I would suggest using a 3d tree from the bonus catalog, free with SSA. Alternatively, you can turn any image into a tree if it is a PNG with no fill in the background.Do a google search. build/image/create image- load your tree texture.
  12. Shared in the cloud, every revision gets its own folder. CAD folder, within the CAD folder is a shortened date folder every revision you simply copy paste the dated folder and rename to the new date..add your initials if you like. Also there are methods for sharing libraries listed in my symbols and content thread(link in my signature) jobname/CAD/2190829-RR would be the folder for today's date
  13. Honestly your main board and CPU could go a few more years with just an upgrade to a NVME drive and some system optimization, which could carry over to a new system when needed. Maybe some best practices in CA as well, mileage may vary but their are methods for speeding up CA that involve your workflow.
