Can I set the Drawing Sheet Scale for all Plan and Elevation views in my project in one go

Hi,

The title is my question:

I am trying to learn how to use the layout features in X17.

While doing so I was getting unexpected results when sending a plan or elevation view to the layout.

It turned out that the Drawing Sheet Scale was NOT the same for all views.

So I set about to make them all the same desired value but I could not find a way to do them at once.

I had to select File/Print/Drawing Sheet Setup for each plan/view.

 

It seems that there should be a way to set them all in one operation.

Yes? No?

You specify scale when sending a view to layout.  A layout page can contain a number of views, and each has its own scale.  Select any view on a page, and there's a tool for editing its scale.

Yes I found that capability.

 

My case involved a number of plan and elevation views, in the plan file, which had many different scales - and that was due to a mistake on my part.

 

I was hoping there was an easy way to reset them all to the setting I desired - other than doing one at a time - which I ended up doing.

I have often wished for this capability but it does not exist. All newly created section or elevation views will inherit the drawing sheet that is active in plan view. 

 

So, let's say you want to create all your interior wall elevations at 1/2" scale and you'd like the drawing sheet set properly.

1. In plan view, change the drawing sheet size and scale to suit your preferred elevation views.
2. Create all your interior elevation views.
3. Now, you can change the plan view drawing sheet back to what is intended for the majority of your plan views.

For all existing elevation or section views, the drawing sheet must be changed manually as needed. This is a bit of a nuisance if you frequently use multiple sheet sizes like I do. 

My default is Arch D sheets (36"x24") but I have several customers that require Tabloid (17"x11") so I often need to change the drawing sheet for all the existing elevation cameras, one at a time. It's an annoying waste of time.

Knowing that new elevations/cross sections inherit from the active plan view is the part I was missing.

curious, why don't you just scale when printing ? or does that not work

I rescale them in layout, one layout box at a time
