Hi, I've got three Quest headsets and to me they are just amazing. Why does CA require connecting the Quest to a computer running CA? Does the Quest lack the horsepower to display a CA design on it's own? Thanks much. Frederick

Hi, Thanks for the reply. The custom ones have been created in X17. They work in X17 but are not being saved for some reason. And X17 is not displaying any error message indicating there was an error when saving. Frederick

Hi, Thanks for the reply. See attached. The normal configuration files are there but none of my custom ones are showing up. They appear when using CA, they are just not being saved. Frederick

I haven't found a way to do that. I don't see it among the various export commands. I see the toolbar import command but there is no export there. Thanks. Frederick

I read in the reference manual that they should be there but I am not seeing my custom ones. I do see all of the standard ones. I will do some more tests. Thanks. Frederick

Hi. I copied the default tool bar and made some changes and made it active. Anytime I start CA it is using my tool bar. Supposedly my toolbar is saved somewhere but I cannot find it. Where is it? Thanks. Frederick

That was a clever approach. I like it. Thanks for the idea. Frederick

Yes I found that capability. My case involved a number of plan and elevation views, in the plan file, which had many different scales - and that was due to a mistake on my part. I was hoping there was an easy way to reset them all to the setting I desired - other than doing one at a time - which I ended up doing. Thanks for the replay. Frederick

Hi, The title is my question: I am trying to learn how to use the layout features in X17. While doing so I was getting unexpected results when sending a plan or elevation view to the layout. It turned out that the Drawing Sheet Scale was NOT the same for all views. So I set about to make them all the same desired value but I could not find a way to do them at once. I had to select File/Print/Drawing Sheet Setup for each plan/view. It seems that there should be a way to set them all in one operation. Yes? No? Thanks. Frederick

Thanks much. That is close to what I was trying to create. I was thinking I only needed to use elevation lines but clearly it requires more than that. I need to spend more time working with the terrain elements. Thanks again. Frederick

Hi, Here is the exported plan file. Your help is much appreciated. Frederick Round Hill Garage Plan.zip

Hi Thanks for the offer. I'm on CA X17. Do you need the plan file or the project file? Frederick

Thanks for the reply. I have tried that but multiple lines interact in ways that I find very hard to predict. However if such lines should do they job I will keep trying. Frederick

Thanks for the reply. I could do that but it doesn't solve the problem of needing a "swale" behind the back, so the land slopes down then back up as it reaches the back wall. Frederick

Hi. Please see attached. Due to the terrain the contractor suggested building the lower 3 feet of the rear wall out of concrete, with 'wings" to keep the terrain away from the side walls, allowing them to be stick built. I can get an approximation of that in CA but I have not used the various terrain features much in the past, so my skills are lacking. What is missing from this attempt is the "swale" that would be created to channel water away from the back of the structure. Can I achieve that look and, if so, how? Thanks much. Frederick

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I was actually deleting the framing and re-building it but the problem bits appeared again. I was not sure if auto re-build would delete the existing framing or just add new stuff to it. I did have the correct value for the setting you mentioned. Adjusting the length of the one on the right did fix it. However the one behind it also was not trimmed but adjusting it's length didn't work. For now I overrode the default height of 9-1/4 to 5-1/2 for that one piece, and others like it, and that is fixing them. Thanks much. Frederick

Hi, I'm having a problem with roof rafters. See attached. Notice that on the left the red one has the bottom trimmed to the required height, but the one on the right has not been trimmed. What causes this? Can it be fixed to generate correctly OR do I have to fix it after generation? Thanks much. Frederick

Thanks to those that responded. I have contracted with someone to do the work. I need someone to take my basic CA v17 plans for a two car garage with two bedroom second story and add whatever is needed for permitting/construction in Loudoun county, Virginia. Would like it done ASAP. Thanks much. Frederick Wilt

That makes sense. I think I can sort it out. Thanks.
-
Hi, Can someone explain what is causing this? Can it be fixed? Thanks.
-
I thought I would try putting in a temporary beam to get the wall framing right and then remove the beam and adjust the posts. That works fine for straight walls but not curved walls.
-
That is what I was asking about. Thanks.
-
Hi, Is there anyway to get the auto wall framing feature to respect the existence of posts (or posts with footers) that are located within the wall? Thanks.

Many thanks all who responded!
