Can I purchase a plan template that I can modify to help speed the plan making process along?

I am fairly new to Chief Architect. (I'm using 16x) I haven't had to make plans for submittal until now and am looking for a short cut? Can anyone help direct me to a resource to download a good plan template that will automatically populate (to a certain extent)  from my model? Thanks

What you will need for submittal will depend on what your building department requires.  Might be best to let people know where you are located.  Also, might want to check out the "offering services" forum if you might want help getting the plans ready.  https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/forum/16-offering-services/

Short cut?

This is something I run into all the time.  People see the pretty 3D model and then balk at the additional expense (time) it takes to make a permit-ready plan set.

DB is 100% correct.  W. WA state has all kinds of requirements that Pinedale, WY does not.

Good luck

Some jurisdictions consider permit plans public record, and will email you the pdf.  I have gotten 25 page plansets for jobs built in Florida.

Floor plans, foundation plans, floor framing plans, roof framing, electrical, MEP, exterior elevations, details, all the sections needed, all the boilerplate annotation, and more.

Other jurisdictions will let you view plans, and take all the time you want with them to absorb info and make notes.

Reminds me of a quote;

"There is no royal road to geometry"

You gotta do the work.

Buying someone's template cheats you out of the very important exercise of how to create one yourself.

There's no point to using a template you didn't create, UNLESS! You are past the level of being able to create your own and want something more sophisticated like those created by the very splendid dudes referenced here.

DKNYCA,

If you are in CA. Most building depts. will have the pages they require published on their website.

The Santa Clara Valley, CA has 13 jurisdictions (off the top of my head). The basics are the same but several of the cities add pages of additional requirements.

When in doubt, call them and asked based on the scope of work.

If you are looking for a template of pages, then try "ReneRabbitt". Probably several others sell a boiler plate set.
