Computer Recommendations for Chief Architect

Hi, We are looking to get new computers that support Chief Architect. We are between three that will support it. I guess the question is, as CA updates and upgrades the software will one of these computer work better/longer than the others? Or is there a different computer you recommend?

It all depends on what you need Chief to do on the machine? Occasional light use? They will all be fine. Intensive large project use? In that case and in my opinion each is a little bit lacking.

 

Again for heavy use;

The HP Victus has a great processor but way too small of an SSD and an only decent graphics card.

The Strix has a bit slower CPU, decent sized SSD, and a decent graphics card too.

The Lenovo has a small SSD as well, a decent graphics card and a fast processor.

 

For cutting edge performance, which I personally don't need it's always the same. Fastest CPU, Fastest GPU, largest SSD drive, most memory (though anything over 32 MB memory is probably wasted.

 

One thing that stands out to me is the amazing value each one represents. Under $1200 is a crazy good deal.

I have not looked at any of your choices, however if you look at peoples signatures. A lot of us long time users have our computer specs in them to give you an idea.

I don't do renders often so have a lower GPU but my system which was purchased for X15 works well.

Agreed and don't neglect to check many signatures, like the one here. I have a virtual dinosaur system and it works great for my purposes. Haven't upgraded in years and don't have Real Time Raytracing which I simply don't need or use and this older system keeps hanging in there.

 I did the math on 512GB, I can do 500 projects. if the 1TB was only $100 more, I'd probably buy it as they are faster read/write

 

I do go over 16GB RAM on my dedicated machine but that is because I am opening other things, such as MS edge.

You might get some better suggestions if you let us know how you plan to use the program.  For example, is your primary goal working drawings?  Do you care about presentation views?  How many plans do you do a year?

Might be best to start with the budget number you have for each machine, and work backwards to get the best you can for the money you want to spend.

 

And talk to dedicated Computer suppliers rather than just looking at Amazon too, some may even offer a better deal on multiple PCs purchased at once.
