As you expand the child folders, only those containing files that work are shown.

Doesn't help you now, but I always save all install packages in a separate folder on my computer, just in case I ever want to go back

Try the Delete Surface tool

I just close the new file How can something so simple be that frustrating?? I never even gave it a thought

One thing that makes it a little less painful is having your polyline with hatch pattern already in place in your template plan, in your saved elevations I also have a heavy black line at the "Grade" level already in place, sloping away from the foundation wall I have to adjust the location of the slope but that's pretty easy with point-to-point move If you always have the same approx foundation exposure, then that is already set and ready to go Sloping lots / walk-out basements require a little more tweaking, but having this stuff in place in the template plan has made it bearable I would however support a Suggestion to add auto dashed lines below grade, if you made it

Can't seem to figure out custom roof pitch
Chrisb222 replied to PineridgeDan's topic in General Q & A
If you want a 3 pitch I would just throw a manual roof plane on it, adjust vertical to line up with the main roof -
I use Arial Narrow, dimensions look exactly like #3 in Marks example, and have never had this problem Someone's not paying attention
-
+1, I avoid 1/4" increments at all costs, except when absolutely necessary as in centerline of a 4x4 or 6x6 But the OP would have the same issue with a 1 1/2" measurement Those fonts look identical

This ^^

I recently completed something similar but used ceiling heights on the main floor, since there is no second floor in the house and I wanted interior camera views to be accurate So in some cases that "how do I" depends on more than just the exterior appearance, unless that's all you're after Many ways to skin that cat

Dimensions on Different Layer Sets/Active Views
Chrisb222 replied to WFM73717's topic in General Q & A
This is the correct answer. It's a little complicated but yes, in a nutshell you need a separate and unique Saved Dimension, separate and unique Layer for that dimension, and a separate and unique Layer Set for that Saved Plan View. Then switch On or Off that Layer for the particular SPV. This is only necessary when, as in your example case, you need to show different views of the same Floor, or a totally unique View in a different Scale, like 1/2" Scale Kitchen Cabinet View as an example (one of my unique views) In other words, if you have very similar dimensioning needs (also CAD and other settings) for a Main Floor Plan View and a Second Floor Plan View, it may work that they can share the same Manual Dimension setup, since they are on different Floors. This same Layer Set structure works to streamline your creation and display of CAD and other elements of the Plan Views, like object displays. -
I make a tiny room in the "exterior" space using invisible walls, and select "do not include" in living space calculations I got the tip from @Alaskan_Son

How do I (roughly) add my roof truss design back into Chief?
Chrisb222 replied to andr0id's topic in General Q & A
I'm guessing he wants to be able to view the entire model accurately in CA This is a personal build, not something for a client -
Like I said, single-layer wall, make it whatever thickness you want, and it will do what you want It will screw with the 3D but you just said that doesn't matter, so there you go
-
You can create a custom wall type with only one layer, and make it whatever thickness you want That should accomplish your goal but it will mess with all sorts of other aspects of the program such as 3D displays, material lists, framing plans etc etc Lay out your rooms using temp dimensions and move-tab-enter

Does anybody have any comments in regards to the new 2021 22" IMAC's?
Chrisb222 replied to dshall's topic in General Q & A
Pretty sure the m1 architecture will run anything under Rosetta 2 -

Chrisb222 replied to dshall's topic in General Q & A
Lots of people have reported running X12 fine on the M1 No idea what will happen with X13 as it hasn't been released yet .... -
Just curious In plan views, is it correct to show an actual drawing of the hanger? Or is there a "symbol" like for electrical receptacles re:
-
Yeah, I've been wanting to print off a set in negative with blue background. When I did a takeoff on the ink required I changed my mind

Automatic roofs are generated from floor, room, and wall settings. Attic rooms are trickier. To get that roof I would generate the rooms with all proper settings, get the auto roof as close as I could without spending a ton of time, then finalize it manually. It's not hard to do if you have a pretty good grasp of the program, but tough for a beginner, and nearly impossible to answer "what am I doing wrong" without seeing your plan file.
