You're welcome, but I've noticed you've been marking your own closing posts as the "Solution" when you're given assistance by other members. I noticed that on a post that @rgardner helped you with earlier. I assume you're doing that to just close out the thread so others don't think it still needs to be addressed, but the purpose of marking a post as the solution is so that others who may have the same question can quickly find the post that solved the problem, not just to close out the thread. Just to expand– That is the type of default setting that will only apply to new dimension strings drawn after the setting change. Some default settings will apply to existing dimensions, but the "locate" settings will not. That may be why it didn't seem to take effect before. Anyway, welcome to ChiefTalk!

You can fix it with the Edit Wall Layer Intersections tool that appears in the lower Edit toolbar when a wall is selected:

You have "Boxed Eave" unchecked under Build Roof > Options, which creates a sloped soffit, and your little bump-out is making the overhang wider there causing it to meet the wall higher up. The siding is flowing up to the soffit.

My apologies, I should not have assumed you didn't want that. I could only recreate it when there is an inside corner in the garage, with an exterior wall planing with the interior wall as you have. In that situation the foundation is aligning with the outside of the exterior wall beyond, and the subflooring extends all the way to the inside of the stem wall: If you eliminate the inside corner, and reverse the interior partition wall, the foundation will return to align on the opposite side of the wall, stopping the sub flooring: Methinks you have discovered another "incorrect functionality" and unless someone else chimes in with a solution, I'd send it in to tech support.

Go to Edit > Default Settings > Foundation and uncheck "Hang 1st Floor Platform Inside Foundation Walls." Then reverse the interior wall so its exterior side is facing the garage.

Uh! I run into this a lot, where two roof planes with different pitches cause the overhangs to act strangely. I recently sent it in to tech support and they basically said, yeah, it's "incorrect functionality" and "we don't know when it will be fixed, switch to manual roofs."

I'm not at a computer, but with auto roofs on, select the porch railing wall, open it and go to the Roof tab. There you have the option to specify two roof pitches for the roof plane bearing on the railing wall.

Use two sliding doors pushed together: Make sure you have "Minimum Separation" set to Zero in your window defaults.

Response from TS: Hello Chris,It does look like we are dealing with some sort of incorrect functionality. I've already got in contact with our developers about it and explained the problem. In the meantime, the best I can recommend is manually drawing the roof plane in that section once the rest of your house is finished.Sorry for the inconvenience!

You can't have one part of an irregularly shaped pattern slip into another part. You have to draw it in a way that the rectangular pattern creates the illusion of breaking out of the edges. I think this would solve your problem:

Personally I would not create 2 plan files. This can all be accomplished pretty easily with SPVs and custom layersets. Two plan files just invites a mistake.

Will it though? It's a good idea and I've been playing with this, but I can't get the plate to show up if the ceiling ht is less than 2.6" which of course produces wall studs... At 1.5" the plate disappears:

Thanks Michael. Interesting how the overhang is related to the neighboring plane's baseline offset. I was just thinking that. I posted the thread right before taking lunch and that idea occured to me afterwards. I've had to do similar things to get boxed returns to look "more right" (sometimes they never look right). I agree, gonna turn it over to TS. I've been dealing with this since I started using Chief, just never bothered with trying to solve it other than correcting it manually. Thanks again.

Whenever I'm starting a design using auto roofs and I have the condition (shown) of a gable and a hip with different pitches, the gable overhang grows out for no apparent reason. Different settings in the Build > Roof dbox cause different effects but none produce the result I need, which is for all overhangs to be the same default size specified. I run into this now and then and just live with it while designing with Auto Roofs, then pull the planes back when switching to manual, but it would be nice to have it show correctly auto.
