  1. @DefinedDesign, here is what I use: Wire Shelf.calibz Wire Shelf with Standards.calibz Insert the Wire Shelf with Standards symbol into your plan. It's set up for a "standard" 18x60 unit. This symbol has 4 corner standards with casters, and the lowest shelf at 6" off the floor, per most commercial food codes. Then insert the Wire Shelf symbol, center it on the previous symbol in both the X and Y axes, and set the height accordingly; repeat for every shelf you need.
  2. I believe Gene has a good workflow; if you're using Sketchup Pro you can export the Section Slice as a .dwg file, and import that into Chief for tracing, so you won't need to resize an image file.
  3. If you're using the Chief core content, the solid fill is turned on for the Tube Lighting>Recessed symbols, but not the Tube Lighting>Surface Mounted symbols.
  4. One way to cheat this: 1. Edit the Roof Plane Specification>Structure>Roof Layers>Surface>Roof Surface Definition material to 1/1000" thickness. It will display as "zero": 2. In plan view, drag the roof eaves to be flush with the exterior siding, then drag them out to be 1/1000" beyond the face of the exterior siding. This forces Chief to generate the Gable Fascia and Eave Fascia, but the value is so small that the geometry will merge nicely: 3. The section will need CAD cleanup, but it's not a bad starting point:
  5. I draw a heavy dashed line and use a note. There are so many ways for a contractor to create a baffle, so I leave it up to them; it isn't a detail I need to micromanage.

  7. Solution to question 1: Open the Stair Specification dialog box. Under the General tab, uncheck Automatic Heights, check Top Tread, Lock Bottom, and paste the deck room floor height value into the upper stair section's Top Height box.
  8. Robert, I understand that I can force the text wrapping by adjusting the column width. In X13, this wasn't necessary. I like all my schedules with equal overall widths, so automatic text wrapping is important to me. Okay, maybe that's a bit OCD, but my frustration is that it worked in X13! Why the change?

  10. Thanks for confirming that it should work. I also tested this condition in a OOB template, and it works correctly. There must be a setting or other variable that controls the behavior, that I haven't discovered. If you find what it may be, please post it here. Thanks!
  11. Joe, the schedules in my screenshots are using the Comments field - I renamed the column heading to "description".
  12. Gene, that means the width of the column will always be dictated by the cell with the longest single line of text. In X13 resizing columns wasn't necessary. Why did the behavior change?

In X13, multi-line text in Object Information Fields displayed as multi-line text in Schedules: In X14, multi-line text in Object Information Fields displays as a single line of text in Schedules: I hope there is a Preference of Default setting that controls this, because I depend on multi-line behavior for my Schedules. Any help or insight is appreciated.

  16. Window Specification>Label>Plan View Position and Orientation This setting can be adjusted on a per-window basis; it can also be set in the Defaults. Or, select the Window and drag the Label into position using the Label's edit handle.

  18. No idea; but I've run into framing issues myself when I don't have my Walls, Floors, etc. defined properly, so my guess would be Yes.
  19. Open the Wall Type Definitions for the framed walls, select the Main Layer, and check the Material layer>Framing box.
  20. I receive this error infrequently, sometimes Chief will crash immediately, other times it won't. I haven't been able to determine any specific workflow that leads to the error.
  21. Here is a workflow that may work for you: 1. Select the Railing, make it "normal" wall, and make it Invisible. This leaves you with just the loft edge. 2. Draw a new Straight Railing back in the room somewhere, away from the deck edge. Draw it to the length of the loft edge. 3. Shoot a Full Camera, select the Straight Railing, and then use the tool Convert Selected to Symbol. 4. Insert the new Symbol and move it into place.
  22. Open the Define Material dialog box. Uncheck Pattern>Keep Pattern/Texture in Sync. Change the value of Pattern>Scale>Width to 175mm.
  23. File>Import>Import Drawing (DWG, DXF)... or create a new CAD Detail, then drag and drop
  24. Try closing Chief completely, open only the Layout - do not open the Plan file - then double click the Layout box with the problem view, adjust the clipping, then close the view and refresh. Sometimes I have to follow this specific sequence to get results.
  25. Known issue. If you have color fill turned on, the color will also be offset. I've reported this issue to tech support - their solution is the workaround suggested by @robdyck: clip the section/elevation camera to sides and elevation, then refresh the camera view. For me, this solution only works if I open the camera view from layout, clip, close, refresh; if I open if from plan the workaround fails. This problem goes back at least as far as X10, when I first reported it to tech support.
