  1. I just bought THIS ONE two weeks ago. It runs X12 very well.
  2. The Only way I print is send it to Layout > Print to PDF > open in PDF software (PDF Perfect on Mac) > Print. The Layout page size matches the Printer paper size.
  3. Here's mine, it's does a very good job. MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) 2.4 GHz *-Core Intel i9 32 GB RAM AMD Radeon Pro 5500M video card 2TB SSD storage One note about the MacBook Pro, it uses the onboard Intel Graphics card when on battery unless you override that in System Preferences. Plugged in, it uses the Radeon Video Card.
  4. Chief has done a good job integrating this new technology. It's just frustrating owning a $4,400 desktop and $3,800 laptop that don't have RTX. I just bought a Dell Alienware laptop for my son, two weeks ago, that has a NVIDIA RTX 2070 video card, so I guess I can use that.
  5. New major features not supported on my Mac Pro and new MacBook Pro are good reasons to not renew SSA.
  6. I bought an ALIENWARE M15 R3 GAMING LAPTOP, on Thursday, The RAM is soldered to the motherboard and is not upgradable. You may want to check that on the one you're looking at.
  7. Check a few things on your Mac. 1. Free storage space. Apple symbol in upper left corner > About this Mac > Storage > how much free space do you have? 2. If you need to free up storage, on the same screen > Manage 3. From the Desktop Hit GO in the upper tool bar > Utilities > Disk Utility > Run First Aid on all the Drives listed on the left. 4. Update the OS, this will also update all your drivers like the one for the video card. Apple symbol in upper left corner > About this Mac > Software Update > Check Automatically Update > Advanced > Check them all 5. If there are updates, install them 6. Reboot > hit Commad + Tab to see if anything other than Finder is running, If there is > Quit the App 7. Test CA
  8. That was my next suggestion. I would call Apple and ask for technical support. After troubleshooting by phone, they'll send you a box for shipping to their repair facility. 1-800-275-2273
  9. Justin, How are you connecting the Computer to the TV? Thunderbolt 3 Adapter ? HDMI cable ? Display Port cable ? It may be possible that your connection/cable in not 4K capable. Try to list the exact components. I know on 4K TVs with a 4K source, the connections can cause trouble. Wireless connections like Apple TV or Chromecast will always cause a delay.
  10. I would guess it's the huge TV running at 4K causing your delay. The recorded screen I posted was the MacBook Pro 16" screen running at 3072 x 1920. I didn't try a 4K TV. I also have a Mac Pro (2013 Trash Can model purchased in 2017). It has dual - 3GB video cards. I recently purchased two new monitors for it. I decided on 27" BenQ PD2705Q, which are 2K - 2560x1440 and $399 each. I researched 4K monitors and the text would have been too small for a 27" monitor. That's why I purchased the 27" 2560x1440. I like using dual monitors. I keep the plan on one and the library and 3D views on the other. I also run Windows on one, using Parallels, and the Mac OS on the other. I do this while using QuckBooks in Windows and writing invoices on the Mac side using Numbers.
  11. Here's a screen recording from my 2019 MacBook Pro. You'll see there is no hesitation, when it stops, it's because I was using the laptop touch pad. Processor Name: 8-Core Intel Core i9 Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz Total Number of Cores: 8 Memory: 32 GB Video card AMD Radeon Pro 5500M, VRAM (Total): 8 GB Screen Recording
  12. You can test your video card using Geek Bench. This software will test your video card performance and you can compare it to other computers. The download is free. Also, open Activity Monitor and watch it as you use CA. Activity Monitor does not show video performance. Activity Monitor is part of the Mac OS under Utilities.
  13. The video card preference can also be controlled in System Preferences > Energy Saver
  14. Is your computer plugged into power or are you using it on battery? On battery the MacBook Pro does not use the 4GB video card. It only uses the dedicated video card when it's plugged in.
  15. Create a Layout Template that matches the size of your required print. Send your View to Layout. In Layout > Print to PDF > Set the Resolution to 600 x 600 > Save it in a Folder. This file will be Vector base and with far more Resolution than you'll need. Print this PDF.
  16. I just bought a Laptop that works very well with X12. 8-Core Intel Core i9 Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz Total Number of Cores: 8 Memory: 32 GB Video Card: AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with VRAM: 8 GB Storage: 2TB SSD It's a Mac Pro but the same computer with Windows would work just as well.
  17. I've been using a 40" Sony TV for clients for about four years. I ran an HDMI from the computer to the TV. It worked very well. In the past, I had it mirror my monitor. I recently updated the computer and bought two new 27" BenQ monitors. Now I have the TV mirror one monitor. I use the second monitor for the library and other tools. Sometime this year I'd like to update the TV to a 55" - 4K. My new monitors have a resolution of 2560 x 1440, the present 40" TV is 1920 x 1080, so when I have the TV resolution match the monitor, some of the desktop is cut off. If I have the monitor match the TV, the monitor shows a slightly smaller screen. Hopefully a 4K TV will be able to match the monitor resolution. I researched 4K monitors and the resolution made the text and menus too small on a 27" monitor. That's why I went with 2560 x 1440. I'm happy with that decision.
  18. I belong to several forums. This one is the most professional and friendly.
  19. Let me see if I can explain how I Synchronize files and folders to work on both a Desktop and Laptop with CA. I have a Western Digital My Cloud EX2 Ultra. It plugs into my Router/Ethernet Switch and acts as a personal cloud. I use software called Good Sync to Synchronize the Desktop to the My Cloud. It also syncs the Laptop to My Cloud. Everything saved to Documents on the desktop Hard drive is also on the laptop hard drive and vice versa. Every time a file changes, it syncs. I've moved Chiefs Folders to Documents. The Library, Tool Bars etc. match on both computers. I can start a drawing on either computer, edit and revise and the changes are on both computers. The synchronization happens in the background automatically. The difference between My Cloud Home and My Cloud EX2 Ultra is the EX2 is Network Attached Storage (NAS) It has two hard drives and runs RAID 1, so the second hard drive backs up the first one. Alll the files & folders are available also using the My Cloud.com web site. So if you had my username and password I could share them with you.
  20. There's been a lot of discussion lately about laptops & tablets. I recently purchased a MacBook Pro laptop, I also have a Mac Pro Desktop. Now the files on each one are Synced. I can open a Plan on one, create a new plan, make changes, create new folders and documents, then save to the hard drive. When I get the the other computer, all the changes are there on the other computer's HD. My complete Documents folder matches on each computer. I can also open these documents on my iPhone and iPad. Of course CA isn't on the phone but I can open all the PDF and other documents. This also works with Windows. I'm using it on my wife's PC to back up and sync photographs. I'm using a Western Digital My Cloud EX2 Ultra. I purchased it with two internal - 2TB HDs, larger ones are available. It plugs into my internet router or switch with Cat5/Ethernet. From the My Cloud web site, which is free, I can make changes, open files, save etc. from anywhere internet is available. For a phone or Tablet, there's an App. Western Digital suggests using 3rd Party software called GoodSync. The cost is $30/yr for the subscription. I use Good Sync at home. Both computers copy their hard drives to the My Cloud EX2 Ultra via WiFi or Ethernet. Each one syncs with it and changes are made to each computers HD. The newest file is the one synced. Now I can take the laptop onto the job site, make changes, then open the drawing on the desktop and the changes are there. I can also created invoices and other documents and they are on both computers. One advantage to this, it's a great backup. Not only are the files on two computers, they are also stored on the My Cloud device. I'm using one of the My Cloud internal HDs for the Macs, the other one is used for my wife's PC.
  21. I own a two week old 16" MacBook Pro. 2 TB SSD, 32 GB RAM, 5500M video card with 8GB VRAM, 2.4 Ghz processor I'm very happy with it. It's very fast with CA12.
