  1. I just ordered two 27" monitors. I considered one large one but I prefer dual monitors.
  2. I did it ! I ordered a 16" MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core i9 8-Core, 32GB RAM 2TB SSD AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 8 GB GDDR6 VRAM It's going to be interesting to see how CA X12 performs compared to my 2013 Mac Pro
  3. I'm an electrical contractor, commercial / residential / light industrial. Are you sure you're not looking at the commercial permits? I would call the permit office and ask for specifics. Something to this level is usually not done by an architect, but an electrical engineer and only one commercial jobs. If this is residential, they are way out of line.
  4. The one's I pre-ordered will have USB-C, Thunderbolt 3. I don't have a computer with that, but will in the future. https://www.benq.com/en-us/monitor/designer/pd2705q.html
  5. I just Pre-Ordered Two-BenQ PD2705Q monitors. $399 ea. at B&H
  6. I came within seconds of ordering the monitor and got called away. When I returned, I did a little more research and found that 4K may not be the best resolution for things like reading this forum because the text will be smaller. I know I can scale it, but now I'm considering the 2K monitor. BenQ is coming out with a new model PD2705Q and it's $139 less, $278 less for two.
  7. I was ready to order, but now I'm on a bit of a delay, I applied for a BenQ business account to see if I can save a few bucks.
  8. I downloaded the User Guide. The monitor has MiniDisplay Port, Display Port, and HDMI. Thunderbolt 2 and MiniDisplay are the size and fit. From what I've read, there is not need for the Thunderbolt cable, just a MiniDisplay to Display.
  9. USB input to the monitor feeds four powered USB outputs.
  10. Thanks for your help. My computer is a Mac Pro (Cylinder) with six Thunderbolt 2 ports and one HDMI. I"m going to order two Mini Display to Display cables and two USB-A to USB-B cables. I want to use the HDMI for a TV when customers visit. I'm ordering it all now.
  11. Thanks, Display Port cables are about 1/4 the cost of Thunderbolt
  12. I have a Mac Pro with Thunderbolt 2 ports. I'd like to buy two monitors. I've read that I can daisy chain the monitors. Do you know what type of cable I should run? MiniDisplay, Thunderbolt 2 ?
  13. Anyone using a BenQ Monitor? I'm considering buying two of these to use as dual monitors. My 23" Apple Cinema Displays are 15 yrs old. https://www.benq.com/en-us/monitor/designer/pd2700u/specifications.html
  14. I designed a "SheShed" for my wife and sent the plans including 3D Views to Backyard Outfitters for construction and delivery. Backyard Outfitters is an Amish/Mennonite Company. I wish I could have seen their reactions when they saw the drawings. They use hand sketches at the bottom of their spec sheet. They did a fantastic job. It's Vinyl siding, aluminum trim, with a 6 ft Fiberglass door. The door has lites at the top with mullions. It has two windows and asphalt architectural shingles. It also has 16" OC construction including the roof trusses and 3/4" Treated plywood floor. Don't tell my wife I call it the "***** Barn". EDIT: This site ****** my foul language. HERE's a link to the reference
  15. Very Impressive specs, top of the line. I'm looking forward to hearing how Chief performs.
  16. So How is the MacBook Pro? What on your specs on it?
  17. Here are the resources my Outside Salesman from a local Wholesale Electrical Distributor gave me: GE Disingection Web Site Disinfection Brochure Spec Sheet GE UV Video 55 sec. GE Fast Track Video 3 min
  18. If you'd like to see your monitor ICC Profile: in Windows, try this in Win10. Settings > System > Display > scroll down to Advanced display settings > Display adaptor properties for Display, (this page was hidden behind the Advanced display settings page on my computer, I had to minimize the front page to see it) > Color Management > Profiles associated with this device. Yours may be blank because none have been created. On a Mac: System Preferences > Display > Color
  19. How serious are you about color matching? XRITE Pantone is the world leader in color. I use their i1Studio to Profile my monitor and printer. If you use this, you can hold your prints up to your monitor and they match. B&H sells it for $439 ICC is the International Color Consortium. In 1993, they established ICC Profiles to standardize color. They're used to calibrate everything from Computers to TVs & Television Cameras to Operating Room equipment and Textile Manufacturing equipment.. The i1Studio will create an ICC Profile for your computer monitor. You hang the device in front of the monitor and it goes through a wide range of colors, measuring each one. It then creates an ICC Profile for your monitor. The advantage to this is that the monitor is calibrated for your room's lighting and White Balance in Degrees Kelvin. You then select this Profile in your computer's video card driver. Then you profile your printer. It prints a sheet of colors, which you scan with the i1Studio. It then builds an ICC Profile for that printer and that particular paper. A new Profile must be created for each paper type. When you print, you select that paper and ICC Profile. It's possible that your monitor and printer match, BUT are you seeing the same thing the manufacturer sees? Use ICC Profiles and you will. This sounds complicated but it's simply to use. After you do it once, it's easy.
  20. .At the present time, UV light fixtures of this type are mostly available in hospital grade. GE quit making the lamps when Obama sent all light bulb manufacturing to China. Companies are quickly developing fixtures, but right now, I don't know of any available at a reasonable price. Note: Some UV light waves are extremely dangerous to humans., even from light fixtures. I'm doing more research on the subject and am in direct contact with manufacturers reps. I'll report back when I have solid information.
  21. Seat up / Seat Down My wife & I decided about 30 yrs ago that the Toilet Lid would always be down before leaving the bath. This has solved many issues including the dog, things accidentally dropped and appearance.
  22. USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 use the same USB-C connector but they aren’t the same thing. Thunderbolt 3 supports faster data-transfer rates, up to 40 Gbps, versus a maximum of 5 or 10 Gbps for USB-C depending on the device. It can also transfer data in both directions, output video, charge your computer, and daisy-chain other Thunderbolt devices over a single cable.
  23. I tried using Apple TV on 40" TV that mirrored my display for clients. It bothered me because there was a slight delay, about one second.
