I renewed SSA and bought a new $3,800 Windows computer with 3080 Ti, 12 GB VRAM Jan.2, just so I could RTRT. It 's a pain not being able to upgrade to Windows 11. I get upgrade messages every time I turn it on. I have to be careful not to shutdown or restart with updates. The good news is, I'm happy with the computer, Windows 10 and RTRT.

I don't mean to be critical. Just take this as a suggestion. I've been an electrical contractor since 1985. The only jobs I see with circuits layed-out are commercial and industrial. If this were my electrical job, I'd look at the drawings and then do it my way because I have to pass inspection. You may be able to save time by trusting the electrician to make decisions. Notes on dedicated circuits are probably all you need. Of course this is your client so please don't feel offended. One thing I would change is the code violation in the dining room. Dining room outlets must be 12/2, 20 amp, on a dedicated Arc Fault protected circuit. The light fixtures would be 14/2, 15 amp, on a different Arc Fault protected circuit. I'm assuming the Outlet at the kitchen sink #51 is inside the cabinet and for the dishwasher. Dishwashers must be dedicated Arch Fault/Ground Fault. They are not permitted to be direct wired. Dishwashers must be cord connected and plug in under the sink. The Outlet is not permitted behind the dishwasher. Same is true with the disposal. Disposal must be dedicated Arch Fault/Ground Fault. The same is true for the refrigerator and microwave. All kitchen counter outlets must also be Arch Fault/Ground Fault.

I bought a new MSI gaming computer with NVIDIA 3080 Ti w/ 12 GB VRAM. It came with Windows 10. CA worked very well. Being curious, I had to install Windows 11. I received the same error and crash as you guys. I tried 511.23 Gaming Driver and 511.09 Studio Driver, both Crashed. I rolled back to Windows 10. So far everything is good.

I thought a problem would be wireless casting from the PC to a 65" Sony TV when meeting clients. I used Apple Play on the Mac. The PC casts to the TV using a Roku.

I still have the Macs, 2017 Mac Pro, and 2019 MacBook Pro. Real Time Ray Tracing on the PC is fast, just a few seconds. 3D views are instantaneous.

I bought my first PC in 1993 but switched to Mac in 2006. Because of Apple's recent lack of dedicated video cards and no RTRT, I bought a PC with NVIDIA 3080 ti with 12GB Vram. The transfer of files and software is going well. The new PC has a 2TB SSD, 2TB HDD and 6TB HDD. I was able to connect and share the PC to the Mac Pro using an Ethernet cable. This allowed transferring data directly without using any external drives. I have 1.4TB of video and almost 1TB of photos. Add years of CA drawings and the transfer is large. Here's how I connected the two machines for direct sharing.

Which PDF software do you prefer for Windows?

Thanks everyone. Very good options here. -
I switched to Mac 14 years ago, but I bought a new PC to get the NVIDIA 3080. Which PDF Editor should I get? I don't want to pay $15/month to Adobe and I'd prefer not to have a recurring annual fee. I'd like to buy it outright. I use things like adding a signature and basic editing, nothing too involved. On Mac, I was using PDF Expert.

That's very promising, thanks

Ready to buy a new computer, what do you think about this one?
Electromen replied to Electromen's topic in General Q & A
That's true. I use CA on a Mac Pro and it works very well except real time RT. I have Windows 10 on my Mac via Parallels. I use Windows for QuickBooks and Vegas Pro. Vegas is video editing software. Parallels does not permit Windows to use the Mac video card. Editing 4K video is not an option in the present setup. It worked with HD video but I bought a 4K camcorder last fall. CA will now be able to real time Ray Trace. Vegas will have an excellent video card. QuickBooks will remain in Windows. The present value of the Mac Pro is about $1,700 even though I bought it in 2017. I'll wait and see what to do with it. I still have a MacBook Pro 2019 and an iPhone 12. Being able to open .PDF drawings and invoices using my phone on the job site is something I want to keep. I'm sure it's going to be a learning curve integrating the two but I'll figure it out. -

Good news, CA called today and I'm all paid up. Thank You. They are working on being able to update credit cards online, but it's not ready yet.
-
You guys are correct, I have new credit cards numbers but the same Credit Card Account. I also have auto pay setup with CA. Every other company like AT&T, Comcast, Amazon, has the ability to update the card online. Anyway, Merry Christmas to everyone and Happy Holidays.

I'm done calling, and done emailing. I've left my phone number by email, by phoned and support case. This has been going on since November 29 when I submitted a new support case about wanting to pay. My Digital Locker reads this: "A customized quote is not currently available for your SSA renewal. If you would like to learn more about the status of your SSA, please e-mail or call Sales at 208-292-3400." If CA wants my money they can contact me. I've made every effort to pay.

My SSA is due Jan. 6. Today, Dec. 23, I received an email that the SSA is due and to call. I called within the hour and they are closed for the Holiday with no message when they will reopen. Why send the email if you know you will be closed? There is no way for me to pay except to call. Over the past two weeks, I've emailed support, called, left messages but their only response is to call. I've tried to pay it many times via the CA web site. I receive this message. A customized quote is not currently available for your SSA renewal. If you would like to learn more about the status of your SSA, please e-mail or call Sales at 208-292-3400.

CA says it's an automatic renewal. It's due in less than a month. I sign in, hit renew and get the message " A customized quote is not currently available for your SSA renewal. If you would like to learn more about the status of your SSA, please e-mail or call Sales at 208-292-3400.

My SSA is due Jan. 6. I contacted support to let them know that I have new credit card numbers. They want to to call Sales. Why is there no way to update my account online? I don't want to stop working Monday thru Friday, call, be put on hold and have to read numbers over the phone. I should be able to do it now, Sunday afternoon.

My situation is unique. I'm an Electrical Contractor. I see the Building and Electrical Inspectors often. Over the years I've built a relationship with all of them in different counties and municipalities in this area. I can pick up the phone and call their cellphone and just ask. If you talk to them one on one, they'll tell you that they would rather have you ask in the design phase. The result is easier on them and you. Some of the new inspectors like to come out tuff and firm. Once they realize that you are professional and knowledgeable, they become friendly.

Until then, Do you have a compatible TV to Mirror the screen wireless using Wifi ? An Apple TV device will also do it. I use a 65" 4K Sony TV to mirror when I meet customers. In the upper right of the OS tool bar, you'll see an icon that looks like two sliders stack on top of each other. Click that and select Screen Mirroring. My TV shows up there and when I select it, the TV automatically switches to Screen Mirroring, select it again and the TV switches back.
