  2. Have you tried having the Walkthrough follow a Spline? Along the Spline, add a Key Point. Click on the Key Point and adjust the speed of the camera movement to near zero. Add another Key Point and return to normal speed.
  3. Glad to hear the Mac Mini is working for you. When I read the specs on this new design, I thought the GPU was the biggest draw back. Your answer with the external GPU is a good solution.
  4. I had a MacBook Pro years ago but never used it to CA. I've had three different Mac Pros since 2006.
  5. Do you have both the Plan & Layout, Open at the same time? Does the Layout contain 3D views? If so, it's my experience that an increase in computer speed will not help. I've tested this with a new iMac vs my Mac Pro. To me, the answer is leave the layout closed during editing.
  6. I have a Mac Pro, purchased in 2017 3.5 GHz, 6 core, Xeon E5 16 GB mem Dual AMD FirePro D500 3MB each 250GB SSD If you want me to test you plan, let me know. Greg
  7. It IS frustrating. Comcast is a good example. Every few years I switch from a residential to a business account and vice versa just to get a better deal. Tonight, I signed my wife up for a food vendor that I buy from regularly just to get 30% off for new customers. It worked, the only difference is her email and name, instead of mine.
  8. I've been using CA since 1997, I don't use technical support, don't need it. In my business, I give long term customers a better price. I don't reward ones that leave and come back.

  11. I haven't built one for about fifteen years but I like that option.
  12. For the second time in 3 months, my 2017 Mac Pro which cost $4,200 has failed. The first time they replaced both video cards and the SSD. This time, the video quit working again. I'm looking at a Lenovo desktop. Do these specs seems top of the line? Processor 8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-8700 Processor (3.20GHz, up to 4.60GHz with Turbo Boost, 12MB Cache) Operating System Windows 10 Home 64 Memory 8.0GB DDR4 2666MHz Hard Drive 1TB 7200 RPM+16GB Optane Memory Optical Drive DVD Recordable Warranty One year Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB Keyboard USB English Keyboard Pointing Device USB Optical Mouse WiFi Wireless LAN Adapters 802.11 AC (2 x 2) + Bluetooth® 4.2
  13. Normally, these are not competitive bids, as when lowest bid wins. The bank usually wants a bid/ proposal for budget purposes. Include all of your expected costs and add some for unforeseen changes. In the Proposal, describe what's included but more importantly, spell out what is NOT included.
  14. The more common name is Gooseneck Warehouse light. You may want to rename it for future use.
  15. I agree with others than the problem is in the application or application support files. With my new Mac Pro, I did a fresh install of CA, then I imported my old User Library. Then I moved Templates from the old drive to the new computer. I did not Migrate any applications from the old computer, they all were installed fresh. Use David's advice, trash the CA app, run "cleanmymac" and install CA.
  16. Thanks for all your help so far. Here's a view from inside
  17. Thank you, That's kind of what I had in mind. There is a Mezzanine level but CA can handle that.
  18. I'm wiring a 25' x 75' steel building. The outside walls are supported by tapered steel beams 25' on center with horizontal Zee Girts and metal sheeting. The roof is Zee Purlins and metal sheeting. Is there a way to draw this in CA?
  19. I'm on a Mac. I have all the data files and documents/drawings on iCloud.
  20. Chief can't do what they require. I get them done free by the local lighting supplier.
  21. What did you use to Calibrate the monitor? The ICC is the International Color Consortium. Monitors and Printers can be calibrated to an ICC Profile. The prints and monitor will match, they'll also match everyone else in the world that have Profiled devices. You can hold the print up to the monitor and see that it is accurate. If you're using a Digital Camera, the camera can also have an ICC Profile. One of the best devices to Profile both monitor and printer is the XRite i1Studio That is what I use. After the monitor is Profiled, you use the same device to Profile the printer. Each paper will have it's own custom profile and must be selected in the print driver. TV's & scanners can also be Profiled. This works best in photography software like Photoshop or Lightroom. The problem with CA and color is how the lighting and reflective materials affect the walls and materials. I'm not sure that can be turned off.
  22. I'm an electrical contractor. I use CA to design the electrical layout. I've never dimensioned the electrical. Plumbing, HVAC, and framing change the placement your best layouts. The symbols show the desired location but the customer and I know it will change on some items.
  23. The Codec on my Mac for X10 is H.264 just like it has been in the past. H.264 is a standard HD compression widely used.
  24. I'm an electrical contractor and use CA specifically for electrical drawings. I've been asking for better control and more layers since '97. Very little has changed since then.
