  1. Scott: CA won't give support for PARALLELS so you would be on your own if there are issues Lew
  2. Scott: assuming it is the same Bootcamp that is the only emulator that CA would support before they wrote X6 for Mac however, to use it you have to re-boot the Mac into Bootcamp then when done re-boot into Mac mode so probably easier to use your PC Lew
  3. sorry, but Chief doesn't have take-off capabilities Lew
  4. Here are some demo videos for Planswift http://www.planswift.com/videos.html Lew
  5. Why and what are they? Is there documentation? Mickey: of course not.... CA likes to be inconsistent and keep us guessing some fine release CA needs to concentrate on eliminating all these "sticky wickets" Lew
  6. Scott: I agree about Chief's ML even CA states that the ML accuracy is dependent on an accurate model but with all the workarounds using Polyline solids and soffits and slabs and base cabinets etc ??? with software like Planswift you can create "assemblies" for walls, doors, windows etc then import the floorplans and elevations and do take-offs or use National Craftsman database etc I started checking this out when Cad Estimator (Cadest) was available years ago and it looked very promising but I only had one client that was ever interested in ML or takeoffs and he retired before I could get it Lew
  7. Planswift (and other software) can do takeoffs from images I was scoping them out as a nice companion to Chief create the 3D model in Chief, then export the various images into Planswift http://www.planswift.com/ Lew
  8. Scott: being in CA I would think you should be able to get a minimum of 15 mbps download I pay $99/month for tv/phone/internet bundle so not sure what my internet alone costs but for $10 or $20 more per month I could get faster speeds but I have been very happy with 15 mbps and download super large files often Lew
  9. I thought Chief had a wall recess feature ? or is that the pass-thru tool, with a slab/ps/cabinet added to one side ??? Lew
  10. Curt: I agree If Chief can do horizontal shelves already then doing vertical shelves should be "a no brainer" surprised they weren't added long ago... Lew
  11. create a blank plan and import any new .DWG's there first then clean-up the drawing and layers as needed then copy into the real plan Lew
  12. Perhaps it might help to check and see if the poster is new if so, kindly suggest they post the plan save the rants for those who "should know better" Lew
  13. try creating the shed in a separate plan then export as a symbol and place that symbol onto the dock Lew
  14. Lew, I think it's 25Mb Yep, when I typed 10 MB I thought it might be higher should have looked it up or put ??? Lew
  15. I think only this new forum allows for .plan files to uploaded the older forum required them to be zipped CA also increased the file size from 2 MB to 10 MB Lew
  16. I have cable at 15 mbps download, 1 mbps upload I've been more than happy with it Lew
  17. Garth: you may have trouble finding Chiefers who still use ver 10 as it is 6 versions old now if the plan is edited by a later version you won't be able to open it after that Lew
  18. Len: seems to me that "copy" in T/R should be same as "copy/paste" the goal - clone the object and place it somewhere I have a guest in town - so no time to play and try Lew
  19. This will not work with Transform/Replicate - it only works with the Copy/Paste Edit Tool You gotta love Chief's inconsistencies Lew
  20. Gerry: I agree as I think CA will continue with the label "concept" and not go anywhere near what is really needed Lew
  21. i was told by TS not to submit any more suggestions or to inquiry about extending RUBY as the the program was not designed to be extended into this area Gerry: maybe TS meant - file it is as a suggestion and not as a TS query ??? the day CA cuts-off suggestions - is the day CA starts to die Lew
  22. whatever version you buy the cost can be applied to an upgrade - if desired Lew
  23. Welcome: this forum is mainly for Chief Premier users but HD PRO users can find benefit from following it check out the Homedesigner forum which is aimed at the HD products I started with PRO and would consider that the minimum starting point as it is the only HD product to have manual tools for roofs, framing, cabinets etc the other HD products are very limited in their features I have also recommended that users consider getting Chief Premier has 4 times the features over HD PRO and can save a ton of money when playing the "what if" game in relation to architect fees If you do get PRO and then bump into its limits the cost can be applied towards the upgrade be aware that Chief or HD are not engineering programs and any designs should be reviewed by trained/licensed professionals before building Lew
  24. this is why I have my partner/friend deal with manual roofs he has more patience then I do.... Lew
  25. Bill: I am buried to my "butt.." in history preservation projects not working on any FLW but he is big here in Buffalo Lew
