Carson City Nevada Firm That Can Convert Files For Me
lbuttery replied to hccpastordave's topic in Seeking Services
PastorDave: how many files ? if there are a few I will do them for free if you have lots or need them ASAP then probably best to go with someone else I just sent an email to you Lew -
spending time on any tech support drives me nuts We can only make guesses on issues like this only tech support can assist properly Lew
-
yep, that's why I didn't try to guess Lew
-
the original cabinet still owns the cooktop CA needs to fix this Lew
-
Ray: seriously ??? tech support can't help ??? I would contact them again Lew
-
contact CA's tech support they can probably assist Lew

being a programmer for 30+ years I do my own saves using "Save As" I prefer not to rely on Chief's archive system It may work fine but I'd rather do my own I add date and time to the file name and keep "everything" until I am done with the project then I clean-up and keep only the "necessary" using Carbonite or similar is good too but I still do my own "save as" sometimes every 5 minutes when I am doing heavy editing otherwise every 15 - 30 minutes Lew

Chief can't import .SHP files http://whatis.techtarget.com/fileformat/SHP-Shapefile-spatial-data-format-used-by-many-GIS-programs You would have to convert to a format that Chief can import look at MENU - FILE - IMPORT for allowable file types Lew
-
or, just hold the left mouse key and rotate the view as needed Lew
-
normally I would suggest contacting CA's tech support for such "weird" behavior but since you are using X3 you would have to pay for the tech support you may get a solution here but most likely you will get a lot of guesses Lew
-
That is why it is often called "work" It can also be "troublesome" if you miss something Lew

Chris: it's not just a matter of time your old XP PC probably has a very old video card etc Raytracing uses CPU ram but the display on your PC uses the video card that could be one reason why they look crappy ... create the raytrace and save it as a file and look at on a newer better PC if your XP PC is connected to the internet you are exposed to a host of virus's that the PC can no longer protect against once MS stopped support just things to consider Lew
-
Chris: glad your back on the forum an 8 year old PC is probably in need of replacement maybe an upgrade - but more likely a replacement what are your PC specs ? Lew
-
the only difference might be that if you say yes to saving the plan that Chief might close before the save finishes ??? probably is best to save first - then close Lew
-
there was a recent thread about using a clip setting to restrict which framing was being shown not sure how to find it or if it applies to this situation Lew
-
yep, only HD PRO users would find any benefit from following the Chieftalk forum Lew

I think we are out of ideas This is a windows issue you need someone to show you how to use/configure Windows Explorer to see the files you could contact CA's tech support but since you have an older (antique) version there would be a charge or contact David Potter as I think he still has ver 9.5 running along with all the other versions of Chief and the HD products he advises/trains via the internet as a business so he would also charge - but probably less than CA ??? Lew

CA can be responsive IF they get a significant # of requests/complaints about a feature to be added or fixed bugs usually get fixed sooner than features CA also states they have a backlog database of 4000+ items to be worked on - maybe an individual request is probably going to go to the back of the line there are many requests that have been around for a decade or so each release has lots of new features and fixes but it is never "enough" and we all start asking for our favorites again X7 is "anticipated" around Feb 2015 CA has been trying to get to an annual cycle focused on the home show and they achieved that goal with X6 can they continue ??? Lew
