  1. makes ever so minor adjustments you will have a tough road ahead to claim any copyright infringement Copyright protects even derivatives However, as you stated: How unique is your design? Lew

It seems to me that most clients would be annoyed if I told them, "go pick up your prints at ABC reprographics down the block". Just my 2 cents. Hmmm, my clients had no problem doing this ... I had bought a brand-new HP 110 Plus - never plugged it in years later I donated it to the local library Lew

Joe: find out what the local copyshops are charging for the various sizes etc and then charge a little less to be competitive Lew
  4. Hi: ver 7 is literally an antique you might want to consider a newer product https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/ the cost can be applied in full towards upgrade to newest Chief if you later decide to go that route Lew
  5. David Potter has a decent list but forgot himself also Perry Lew
  6. before I retired I was studying Drafix as a companion for Chief https://prolandscape.com/en/software/ a smart craftsman has many tools in his toolbox "If all you have is a hammer, then everything begins to look like a nail" Lew
  7. I started with Chief after 30 years in the IT industry Lew
  8. its too late to close the barn door Lew
  9. with multiple buildings I prefer keeping each building in a separate plan and then making them into symbols to be placed in the master site plan I think you can have both plans open and then use the edit area all floors feature to draw a marquee around the house then using the point to point to place the house in the site plan manual manipulation with the house and the terrain will probably be required to get them "merged" together properly I suspect at this point making a symbol of the house and placing it in the site plan will be "easier" Lew
  10. Install chief on C: where it wants to go if you install to another drive then later when you contact tech support they will blame that put all your projects on another drive but install chief itself on C: Lew
  11. as for updates that vendor disappeared long ago Lew
  12. Hi: this should not be an issue you must have a setting off please change your signature to include Chief ver etc also include screen captures of the various settings to get better advice you can also contact CA's tech support for assistance Lew
  13. not sure about a re-install where are you getting your library items from ? when you download library items may sure you select the ones for X6 later library versions won't work in X6 not sure about prior versions - but they probably will avoid X3 if they are even there as CA created a subscription service for X3 but abandoned it with X4 system that is still in use today Lew
  14. Hi: sorry there is no way to lock the settings the short answer is too learn how to control the settings the long answer is that I find them confusing too and can't offer any real help others will chime in soon and they understand these settings better I have advocated for over a decade that we have the ability to "lock" a room, an area, a floor so that Chief can't change it without permission I really hate it when I have things set the way I want and then Chief changes them without warning due to the "next click" - even if its user error I would still like to be warned and give my permission for Chief to proceed Lew
  15. going to PDF first offers many advantages Lew
  16. I believe Interiors can open a Premier plan and probably even make edits except for features that Premier has that Interiors doesn't - those will be read only It is the same "logic" that applies to opening/editing Premier plans with the HD products but check with CA's tech support team to be sure Lew
  17. This delete issue happens to me, but not always; once it starts, it will repeat, until I close/reopen the project could be a "memory leak" somewhere "bad" coding is allowing data to overwrite an area it shouldn't you perform a certain task and the leak occurs this then leads to corruption just a guess from a former programmer review the video that experienced the problem and see if you can replicate the steps or tasks that lead to the problem if so, send to CA's tech support If not, try paying attention or writing down what you are doing prior to problem appearing then let tech support know while it only happens on win 10 it could still be a Chief programming issue or it might be a windows issue ? Lew
  18. I have never heard of the trial version having lower quality there must be another issue - with settings or the video card or ??? probably best to contact CA's tech support they are closed on the weekends Lew
  19. If this is a new house my un-informed guess would be that the turret should be "taller" than the main hip roof then where they meet would be valley or cricket and flashing etc just a WAG Lew
  20. you can place all 30 "floors" below grade you can have as many as needed above grade and below grade chief allows 30 floors - stories - levels regardless of grade Lew
  21. sometimes we sent floorplans to the trades for them to markup and provide specs then we would add info into Chief plan for permit submission sometimes the trades would supply the specs etc then we would add info into Chief plan then send back to trades for their final approval and sign off they would submit for permit or the builder would submit our permit set after signing and stamping many different ways to do it all depends on builder or client and permit office etc working in DC metro covering DC, MD, VA and 8+ surrounding counties - many, many variations plus doing work across nation via the internet Lew
  22. TIN's must be a natural concept first house I tried to measure I wanted to know where all the trees and other landscape hard features were in relation to the corners of the house the terrain dipped and rose all over the place the builder had flattened an area and put the house on it everything else was a "jumble" I started measuring and ended up with a large series of irregular triangles and dims when I got home I was discussing with my partner who understands these things better than I and doing some googling for "irregular triangles" I found TIN's and how to use them didn't help with mapping out the crazy terrain around the house but did help with accurate tree placement Lew
  23. Richard: I like the TIN method (not that I understand the math etc) but would there be a way to have far fewer triangles ??? just curious ... Lew
  24. nope, didn't look that far if you know the dims of even a bathtub you can scale the plan it won't be "accurate" but it would be "close" google around some - I gave a link to the very first set I found Lew
