CAD details from view changing line weights
DavidJPotter replied to capitaldesigns's topic in General Q & A
You can skip all that complication by NOT using "CAD to View" tool. Sending a live-connected view (elevation or camera view) you can more easily control line weight using the "Edit Layout" tool on layout. DJP -

DavidJPotter replied to capitaldesigns's topic in General Q & A
Edit layout tool while on layout. Left click on an elevation or camera view while on layout with the "Edit Layout" tool icon selected (active) then in the resulting dialog box lighten either the "Pattern Lines" or "Edge Lines" as you wish. DJP -

I recommend Dan Baumann's Chiefexperts.com as well as chieftutor.com and for personalized help, one on one I recommend me. I would start with your free "Users Guide" absolutely first and use the "Help" files and free "Reference Manual" DJP

You should first read your "Users Guide" found under the "Help Menu" otherwise I do not understand your question but sounds like you are off proper procedure for developing a 3 D model. DJP

"I proved it wasn't a printer problem - it is a software problem inside CA and how it talks to the printer driver. " No, actually you proved that your PC, Mac or printer has a problem. Like Lew said there is no problem with Chief. Rather there is a problem with your procedure or steps you take to get a negative result, look again please. I am along time user and forum member, in all this time it has always comes down to user error. DJP

I agree with Larry in terms of an "as built" plan file and a "remodel plan file" for remodels. DJP

It is a non essential way for others to evaluate whether one is useful and respectful of others in terms of "Help" or not. It is a social convention only. If you honestly try to help yourself and others, sometimes others notice and say so one way or the other. This is a Help Forum and as such you get help from others and you help others. Any other behavior is inappropriate here. DJP

There are eight dimensioning tools, have you studied them and practiced using them? You should. DJP

I never bothered to make a fully 3D symbol for such a thing (I rarely have a cause to place them). So what I do is to make a 2D symbol to represent the object in plan view and add the 2D symbol to my Electric Legend corresponding. It is not an object that makes a large impact in camera views. DJP

Outlet in kitchens will not place as GFI
DavidJPotter replied to mtldesigns's topic in General Q & A
If your room is named "Kitchen" or "Bathroom" any outlets should, when placed come in as "GFI". What did you name the "Kitchen" in question? DJP
